2010 FBG Post Season Contest (1 Viewer)

Assuming I made it with Manning, Collie, Brees, Colston/Hendreson, Greene/Smith/Jones.

I know I at least have a chance since when I run the queue I am the only one with Brees, Colston, Henderson, Manning and Collie. It won't run more than 5 but I have Addai to boot.

I may not win but at least if everything runs perfectly I have a chance.

25.6

thomas jones losing the job to shonn greene hurt me; so did having revis island on wayne in this key week.

hopefully i'll remember some key lessons for next year, but i kind of doubt it.

Barely made it (#925). Very lucky considering I'm in the boat of people not reading the rules prior to entering team.

Sitting with 8 players left:

Manning, Wayne, Clark, Addai, Collie, D. Brown, Indy, and Henderson.

Of course, people with Manning and Brees left will have a nice advantage; 357 of those teams left. 6 teams left with the big 4 l(manning, addai, wayne, clark) and Brees.

So how many of the final 1,000 entries have a 0% chance at the big prize money? With only two teams left I'd imagine the number is pretty high.

Doug> The querier is broken / not updated? If I run the query at the bottom to find all live teams with X number of players from "Teams still alive" the results are wrong, i.e. it's not counting just Saints and Colts.

Made the final round!

I have Manning, Wayne, Clark, Brees, and Pierre Thomas left.

Can anyone direct me to the SIM? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks

Yay. 111th place, moving on to the Super Bowl. :no:But no chance of winning anything. Just Manning, Clark, Colston remain.
See, this is what I'm interested in. There must be a ton of teams like this that are still alive but mathematically eliminated from the prize money (that is, I have neither the access nor the desire to drill to the level of detail DD does to calculate tiebreakers, but I'm making the relatively safe assumption that a player like Brees will score >0 points in the Super Bowl).

No sim yet. Drinen does that using Dodds' projections for the upcoming games. When Dodds posts his SB projections, Drinen will run the sim.

I made it, but with no chance to win either:

Manning

Wayne

Clark

D Brown

Colston

I might not be mathematically eliminated, but no shot in the real world.

LOL at no chance to win. Trying having Garcon and Hartley. Anyway, very interesting contest. My strategy worked pretty well I think, which was to mainly load up on players from non-top seed teams for uniqueness (got 4 from MIN and GB and 3 from NYJ) and then spread out to the rest of the teams except to skip the two teams I was more sure would lose their first game (CIN and NE). So I was right about the two teams losing and I loaded up on two of the four teams in the conference finals. But as luck would have it, we have the first top seed vs. top seed in 17 years. Great contest Doug, thanks!

Wow, good going Loon! You gotta shot it looks like!-QG

Collie, Stover, Pierre Thomas left. Not looking good. :( I still see this as an accomplishment, seeing as I always suck in the regular season subscriber contest.

I'd have to consider this guy the favorite.

According to the querier there are only 7 entries that have 6 or more Colts remaining. (5 with 6, 1 with 7, 1 with 8)

There are only 17 entries that have 4 or more Saints remaining (15 with 4, 2 with 5)

THIS guys is the only one who fits into both of these categories. He has TEN guys going in the Super Bowl!

Here are his 10.

Manning, Brown, Collie, Garcon, Clark, Indianapolis Defense

Brees, Bush, Meachem, Hartley

That's gonna be tough for anyone to top!

I did like most of you above:1) Picked the SB teams: IND and NO seem the most likely.2) Loaded up with 70% of my money on the two SB teams3) Used remaining 30% on WC teams from week 1, focusing on QBs because of 6 pt passing TDsI need great games from Rodgers and Romo to get me through week 1. I gambled that with 4,000 teams advancing and with other people also focusing on the SB teams that I could slip by with the two QBs, a DEF and a PK from week 1. I did not want to make it to the final round and then lose.Entry 101090This entry is still alive. 18 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Peyton Manning $29 0.00 Joseph Addai $19 0.00 Austin Collie $14 0.00 Dallas Clark $26 0.00 Indianapolis Colts $9 0.00 Jay Feely $10 0.00 New York Jets $7 0.00 Drew Brees $29 0.00 Reggie Bush $13 0.00 Robert Meachem $14 0.00 Garrett Hartley $11 0.00 New Orleans Saints $13 0.00 Tony Romo $26 0.00 Aaron Rodgers $30 0.00
Bump as this 5 Colt, 5 Saint entry obviously is a serious conteder as well.-QG

Any chance we can get stats of how many people are dead? How many people have 10+, 9, 8, 7 etc of the remaining teams left?

I guess I still have a chance because I have a unique roster left, but it's gonna take a miracle...

QB Manning

K Stover

WR Meachem

TE D. Thomas

K Hartley

I also have a unique collection of players, so winning is technically possible but realistically doubtful.

Colts: Manning, Addai, Stover

Saints: Brees, Pierre Thomas, Hartley

Just based on a few of the posts above, it looks like I'll need huge games from Thomas and Stover and low scoring from the likes of Wayne, Clark, Garcon, Collie, Bush, Meachem, Colston, both defenses, and I'm sure a few more players I'm not even aware of yet.

While winning is doubtful, it's been a fun ride just getting to the final and having a shot, no matter how unlikely placing may be.

I barely got in the first two rounds but made top 100 in this last round! Unfortunately my ride stops here compared to most of your rosters who are still in.

Manning

Garcon

Meachem

Henderson

Kudos to some of you who stacked Colts and Saints, granted this was the "dream" matchup for the NFL getting by the first three rounds wasn't easy. Good luck. I hope the SB matches the fun factor of the Saints-Vikings game.

Even though I have no shot at placing... I'm addicted to this contest!

Doug, will you have a sim for the SB? If so... when!?

Thanks again, I've enjoyed the ride. I hope you guys run this same format next year, now that we have a clue (speaking for myself) as to how to play this format.

Heh, I hope they tweak it just to keep us all off-balance as usual :lmao:This definitely was an awesome contest format, though.-QG

Wow.. talk about luck on your side. This team is looking great now but geez.. Everything worked out perfect in that 1st round game. 6 TD's out of the only 3 guys he took off of teams with Ray Rice,Doucet & Edelman,Finley also had a great game. I can't believe he made it out of week one with those players.. But this team is looking great now. That is why this contest was set up really cool..

So Doug, does this mean no stats, no sims, nothing? I know there are less people but I think you would have given us SOME little morsel this week...

ETA: After reading that it sounded I didn't apprecaiate what you have done up this point. Great contest. Thanks for the sims and the stats. I probably have no chance at winning this thing but was hoping for something.

Thanks.

Hmmm...looking good midway thru the 3rd.

So when can we expect the results? It seems like they were out first thing Monday in the early rounds. I may actually have a shot at placing...

I saw a thread in the free for all, someone had 130-something? Wow.

I had a respectable showing with 69 points, far from enough to make top 100, but still not too bad.

With a grand hangin out there, some people must be very anxoius to see the final results, me thinks.

I think I have 123.85 points, team #101778. I've searched pretty hard using the contest querier and have found a team ahead of me. #103461 199.55 points. During the search I've found 23 teams over 100 points with 14 of them over 110 points. Haven't checked my math and I'm sure I've missed some combinations. Wish it could get posted so I'll quit checking.

Like I said, the person who predicted the 2 Super Bowl teams and picked the most players there was what was going to win :goodposting:

Make that the person who predicted the 2 super bowl teams and then survived with the most players there. Great contest!!!

Right, but my point being those that tried to spread it out had 0% chance of winning. There were tons of entries that had multiple Colts and Saints. Was just a matter of just ONE needing to make it through. When you consider that week 3 is a virtual lock if you've got those 2 picked correctly, it's a matter of making it through 2 weeks.I'm not saying it's easy to win. I'm simply saying you HAVE to go for broke or you have no shot.

#2 GB, congrats!-QG

Interesting to note the lack of ties.

Also interesting to see that numerous combos could have done better than the winner who didn't have Thomas or Addia.

Yahoo!

 FBG have been verrrry good to me.

I just don't know what to do with two life time memberships? How do I keep track of the second one when I'm reincarnated? Even if I come back as a monkey, I'll still want to play FF, but I won't be any good without FBG advice. I've now have finishing in the money 3 times in FBG contests.

Can anyone match that?

Thanks Joe, David and Staff.
