It got me thinking ... we're up to eight (8) players with ACL injuries lost for the season already? Or so I heard.

Three on KC alone, ... LeShoure, ... now Britt. That's five. Who else?

Hi PrussianI think this a great topic and it was posted exactly where it needed be to generate the most in depth discussion. I'm really anxious to see how it developsHave a great seasonMOP

Several have been lost to torn achilles as well.

Some more IR'd due to torn ACL:

D. Hixon

Z. Williams

D. Gettis

G. Toler

B. Witherspoon

T. Thomas

T. Boggs

D. Bogan

Perhaps under-preparation on the athletes part?

Not working out, or not working hard enough during the lock-out?

freak accidents?

We should just do away with ACL's altogether. We got along just fine without them in the pre-merger days.
A side effect from all the steroids in the league, or that players are just softer than they were. This injury was just a sprain back in the day.

Hines Ward has done quite well, despite not having an ACL in his left knee.I've long thought that athletic children should have their ACLs prophylactically removed during the summer before they turn ten, just in case.

acl/mcl is to sprainasstafford is to sleeper
Let it go dude, 2 weeks ago Stafford was a sleeper, as he was started in less than 50% of leagues. I cant help it you dont have the knowledge to jump on board early. But from all your complaining about how bad your players are on this forum, we obviously realize how much about football you DONT know.Yes, and Stafford was a sleeper 2 weeks ago.

Never a sleeper. And not on board? As in, sitting nicely on my bench behind Brady?
But from all your complaining about how bad your players are on this forum, we obviously realize how much about football you DONT know.
I lost a week. and only one.
Yes, and Stafford was a sleeper 2 weeks ago.
and no, he wasn't.

Your posts show how much of a troll you are. Never, not ever, do you post anything with info fo rhte shark poolers.Wow you always back up all your comments with so much info! Now go pee in another pool.

A thread which states Stafford is a sleeper, is 110%, pure, unadulterated :fishing:
How bout this, I challenge you to come up with information other than comments, do your own sleeper thread.I looked and the only threads you provide are begging for advice instead of helping others...and your only comments are smart ### remarks pretending that you know something when anyone can read your posts and see otherwise. You should center your hate to the people who are asking for advice about their team in the Sahark Pool...oh wait, you would have to hate yourself a ton.

You do the same thing constantly and it's annoying.Exhibit A:

It was a question, next time I'll add the "?" My bad. Also, now post one of the many many posts where I provide information...or do you not want to do or say something that goes against your bias argument?

Begging for advice, eh?
Yes, I can post your posts and topics or people can just go there themselves through your profile.I already accept the hate I get on this board for my loud mouth, I dont care. But dont change the fact that I know what I'm talking about, sorry.

Keep the hate coming, bring it, but all you got "is Stafford aint a sleeper" lmao, how is he a bench player, not started in at least 47% of games week 1...but is not a sleeper?

ETA: 47% started in leagues week 1, if he is not a sleeper who is?

Nah, I'm done. Back to the injuries, as mentioned previously, the ACL/MCL business is just the nature of the beat. The game has evolved so quickly, that the human body is pushed far beyond its regular limitations. These ligaments cannot withstand the punishment placed on them, and thus, we have what we have today. Seems the only way to strengthen it, is to ruin it.

This might be one of the most intelligent thoughts of read in the pool in a while (on this subject especially). It certainly makes sense. With athletes getting bigger, stronger and faster - larger body mass to move, stronger leg muscles to move them, even being hit harder (as force = speed * mass) it certainly seems that it's possible that the ligaments - especially those in the knee - are put to extremes that they had not otherwise been forced to deal with in previous football eras. Heck even the turf they play on is designed to help make everyone "faster". I wonder if we'll ever get to a point with ACLs that it's like having your wisdom teeth pulled. "Okay, you're in the NFL now - time to have your ACLs removed and replaced with these artificial ones that are much stronger - just lay down. Recovery time is about two weeks...you'll be ready for training camp, no problem. Welcome to the show, rook."

Wow, you moved up from being a "sleeper" specialist to a "Doctor"? wow, thats sweet. These injuries happened all the time to players, you hear vets talk about it all the time. They just taped it up and played. Players now and days take more and more supplements and drugs could have an effect as well...So again, I ask the same question as earlier.Too many steroids/drugs in the league, harder hits, turf, or just softer players?

Female athletes have a much higher risk to tear ACLs due to the width of their hips. But with the amount of size players are putting on now and the speed, they may catch up.Think about it, they will constantly find ways to get bigger/faster/stronger...which places more strain on the bodies. In 2055 all OTs may weigh 400lbs etc.

Id love to see some stats that show whether more ACL injuries occur on turf or grass. That's be something that'd be just awesome to know about.

As for the "robotic acl", who knows... I wouldn't put it past science + the urges from agents, for players to pursue that avenue if it ever became available.

** And Just Cuz, can you shut up already? You're what I remember my mother's bout with Hemorrhoid's was like. Chronic, painful and discomforting to everyone.

Instead of always "begging for info", why dont you do the research on your own, and provide something other than rhetoric.I love the bottom line too, shows that everything I mentioned about how you provide nothing to the board is validated.
