**MNF Lions at 49ers** (+3.5, 50.5) 8:15 (2 Viewers)

My first thought was to do a 3/120 contract for Purdy although I don't think that would be accepted since most qbs are getting 50 mill a year

:kicksrock:

lost the first round by <6 whilst scoring a season high in points (10-1 in all play)

would have easily won the Semis & Finals had I advanced, beat my Week 15 score thus week

a) that‘s not how any of this works, b) nobody cares,, and c) :ptts:

Lions D generally... fairly terrible, though they actually got turnovers, which was a refreshing change.
Lions O rolling throughout, though. Could too easily be a preview of what they need to do to win playoff games.
Did they “get” turnovers though? Did they?

Or did Brock gift wrap a few ducks to them?

Playoff QBs won’t make those throws in a close game.

Yeah, came here to post that. Felt a lot more like Purdy's mistakes than it did the D stepping up. Glenn better come up with something new for the playoffs

He tried to throw 3, but 2 were on back to back plays saved by a questionable flag.

*shoulder shrug emoji* They hadn't had any turnovers in 5 games. I'll take them however they happen.

I think Purdy is better than Tua or Love. They both got paid.
I agree with this. Further, he’s a damn near perfect fit for what Shanny wants to do. He doesn’t have the deep ball accuracy, but he throws on the run, improvises well with his legs, and has beautiful touch on short & intermediate passes.

But I also believe the 49ers will see what Darnold is asking, assuming the Vikes don’t franchise tag him. We know Shanny likes Darnold.

It would be fascinating to see how the rest of the league values Purdy.

That’s my point though.

The Lions defense, especially the secondary, was a sieve tonight.

They couldn’t stop a stiff breeze for 3 quarters of football. Very little pressure on Purdy behind a makeshift OL held together with bubble gum & duct tape, and the turnovers were both absolute gifts on terrible throws.

So really tonight was a continuation of the last 5 weeks. My entire point.

Not trashing the Lions - they’re my favorite team left in the playoffs (to watch). Just trying to be fair in my evaluation of the team - they need to get their ish together on defense or they’re gonna be playing a lot of edge of the seat games.

I'll say it again...NOT a star
OK, you're the GM, if you're Lynch what do you do in the off season?
Purdy will be on Year 4 of a 7th Rd rookie deal and has been to 2 NFCC and 1 Super Bowl

I'd like to hear what people are thinking is possible here
with the way QB's are paid and how hard it is to get a franchise guy? 5 years 210 million? Just north of 40/yr?

COuld see stretching that a bit if it's team friendly in the later years. You definitely try to resign, just don't pay him like the top 5 guy he's not
Very rational and I agree but we're talking about the QB market, I can see this number swelling
Purdy’s getting $50 mil per year

I think he'll be viewed higher than Darnold. Purdy doesn't have any bad years on his resume, Darnold had only that until this year. I think Purdy is considered like a low-end Pro Bowl caliber guy. Like QB10-ish.

I feel like Darnold is more in the Mayfield category contract wise, if he doesn't get franchised.

I dunno - I think the league would see it opposite. Darnold has the benefit of the doubt that the Jets & Panthers were both trash teams with questionable coaching.

Purdy was on a juggernaut this year and was meh to start the season. He looks like he’s regressed. I know he had issues around him, but Darnold has an impressive college resume - probably why he kept getting chances.

Size alone might give Darnold a little edge - one of the knocks on Purdy is he can’t see over the lines - 6’5” vs 6’1” is significant.

Interesting debate - probably moot since MIN probably franchises him.

Wouldn’t expect that. They are going to have to outscore teams. The Buffalo and today’s games are what I would expect.

The problem is that BUF actually has a good (and improving) defense. They’re getting guys back.

But even to get to that, they have to get past MIN. IMO MIN is the most dangerous team in the playoffs because they can play defense.
(ETA: I meant NFC team)

GB has a nice D as well, but Love is kind of a wildcard with bad turnovers.

Gonna be a hell of a postseason.

That was tough to take I missed 2nd place and $75K by just a couple pts. Had you told me before the game Gibbs would get 26 pts I thought for sure I would get 2nd palce.

In the end though I miss out and finish 3rd by a few points and take him $25K. A nice prize which I am sure many would be happy with just tough for me under the way it went I can't believe LaPorta picked tonight to blow up and have his best game of the year.

It is what it is and I will be back once again next year to try it all again.

Man, 2 points for a $50K difference.

When I was a top 25 team around week 10 I looked at the payouts and wondered to myself what that would be like to go from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd.

$25K is a nice payday, but I can see how that’s brutal. Congrats on your season though dude - you killed it again.

Congratulations. Try to remember that you didn't "lose" 50K. You never had it and you didn't control the circumstances that prevented it.
What you DID do was make 25K. You didn't lose anything. Great job.

They all played
The whole game
Don't ever doubt The Head Lion
Play the over in the Lions/Vikings game
Great game to finish the regular season

Kirk Cousins, coming off an achilles injury signed for 2 years, $90M ($45M AAV) last offseason. You think Brock Purdy is taking a 3 year deal at $40M AAV?

If I'm Purdy's agent, I'm looking for 6 years, $366M ($61M AAV), my floor for Purdy would be a 4 year, $220M ($55M AAV) contract. The $120M you offered is what I would be asking for in guaranteed money.

It’s definitely going to get a little bit better when Alex Anzalone is back on the field.

Iffy creating havoc will help as well.

no which is why I said

I don't think that would be accepted

50+ seems to be the going rate for QBs these days. He had a terrific year last year so the question is, is this just a down year or is this more normal for him? The question was should SF resign him or not. I'm a big Purdy fanboy but I'm a little skeptical if he's SFs answer at QB. Maybe he is. Maybe you don't resign him and make next year a "prove it" year. I think your suggestion for a 4/220 is very realistic and I could see it happen.

This sounds very similar to Goff last year.

If I remember correctly, I was right on the money in the Goff thread with his contract range. I see Purdy getting a couple million more than Goff after Jerry Jones crapped the bed with Dak.
