I've got quite a few players with regular season games in December. So even if I leave some slots open in weeks 1-14 I still can't play those guys in week 15? Why don't we just cap it at 14 games per slot and play for the full regular season? Too complicated?

That's how it used to be, I think. There's a change this year. It has been a debate for as long as this league has been around.

29.11 Jeff Driskel QB UF

That was difficult to type out, even in the 29th round.

Edit: ####. Didn't see pumpnick's pick. Will choose again shortly. Can't believe I'm upset that I didn't get Jeff Driskel.
Ok I'll give this another shot.

29.11 Alex Zordich QB Buffalo

The rules have been different every year. The free agent frenzy to fill up starts with short week players has been a major issue in the past. With only like 8 games in December this year, it was much easier to simply use 99% of the season rather than figure out a rule set that prevents picking up Cincinnati's 4th string RB to start for you in December.

I understand how that could be a pain but the flip-side of that is some pretty marquee players miss out on a game. Have you guys had caps on the number of starts in the past? What's the downside of doing it that way?

The picking up of every free agent available in the short week to create a bastardized version of a championship week where everyone is trying to reach their cap. We one year had a rule that a player had to be on your roster at an earlier date but it still caused tension.

Next year the rule might be different. I think it has been almost every year. I made it very clear that some players would be short of 12 games. Similar to the fact that every year a few teams get 13 games due to playing at Hawaii. No matter how you design a NCAA league, it will always be imperfect.

This is true. There are merits to both sides of the argument and no matter which way you set the rule there will be complaints to change it to the other way the next year. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix... you just have to set the rule one way or the other and stay consistent for the season.

I didn't mean to give the impression that I was complaining or anything, the rules were definitely clear I'm just thinking out loud. Wouldn't most teams already be at their cap heading into the last week? Wasting a start on some FA scrub just because he has a game the last week of the season seems like a losing strategy.

I already know the problem this year. When your WR mystically does not play due to an mysterious injury or infraction and you can't make up the game.

I don't think any team was at their max prior to the short week. I myself didn't start full lineups because my better players played in the short week and then an injury might force you to scramble and pick up anyone you can to at least get a couple points.

I honestly don't see either as ideal and I was the one that fought for Army-Navy to count. I just saw that their were only 7 games after the 1st 14 weeks and this was a much easier solution (and much easier to explain clearly). We will see what everyone thinks about this set up and make a decision for the future. But also the fullish 14 week schedule is very rare.

Guess I forfeit. I had no way to keep up with all these late picks and have no idea who is available.

The next piece of college football news I read will be my first.

SinsterKid, use the link in the first post and join at fantrax so I can input the rosters. And as noted, the rosters were final at 10:40 PM Central Monday night so Rudnicki currently has 29 players and golden_domer as 27 players. The first free agent bidding will occur the Wednesday after the first weekend of games.

Can you please refresh my memory and explain how the bidding process works again? Thx.

Every Wednesday (beginning after the first weekend of games) each owner will have $200 to spend on free agents. The highest bid at 5 PM Eastern Wednesday will acquire a player (tie goes to lowest in standings/worst first round draft order week 1). Multiple players can be bid upon. One thing to keep in mind is to set all free agents you bid on to reserve (in the window that pops up) because fantrax will reject free agents if you have too many starters as a result (I will fix when this happens).

One hour after the bids are processed FCFS will open and last until the games begin Saturday. Each FCFS pickup will retroactively cost $1 in bidding cash.

Running List of Player not in System Currently

Rodriguez Moore, RB, Cincinnati/Cheese

Robbie Rhodes, WR, Baylor/golden_domer

Riley Burrough, RB, Michigan St/sinisterkid

Michael Dyer, RB, ????/Slider6

Anthon Samuel, RB, ????/The Ref

Markeith Ambles, WR, Houston/The Ref

Nick Marshall, QB, Auburn/timschochet

Thank you. We have $200 every week? Or $200 total throughout the year?

Also, do we post the bids in this thread? Or at Fantrax?

I should be done with all the roster aside from the players above that are not in the system. Check your rosters for errors and also if I just missed the players above. Tomorrow I will finalize the draft.

We bid at fantrax. $200 for the entire season.

I expect the missing players will be added to fantrax soon enough. If not by mid month and they are on a roster, I will contact fantrax.

boubucarow, I got an email that said the draft was complete, but you only have 29 players on my team. You forgot Nick Marshall, QB, Auburn.

As I expected, Dyer is going to Louisville. I assume Fantrax will add him soon.
Nice gamble. Now, if he can remember how to play the foosball...
Yeah, 2 seasons off. Hopefully he's not too rusty. It's not like UL plays a tough team at all this season though.

My other gamble seems to have failed though:

Attorney for Terps RB Wes Brown says client suspended from university for at least fall semester (via @sunjeffbarker).

When I add the players it will show as a $1 free agent add, I will adjust your bidding total back to 200.
