Tony Bosch is just destroying A-Rod on 60 Minutes.

This freakin guy was dirty morning til night.
Allegedly received death threats from camp A-Rod after declining a bribe. Amazing stuff.
Not that A-Rod isn't the most guilty of all these steroid guys, but Bosch is about as believable as a $10 hooker.

Enough with the integrity of the game. Always laugh when interviewers solemnly put forth that question. Why don't people just say it's the entertainment business? A kid's game with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. Chance to set generations of your family up financially. Most people would take a pill if it would make you better at your job and make you a lot more money. Especially with doctors telling these drugs will make you feel better and are not that risky in comparison to lots of common behavior will all indulge in.

Passing on millions of dollars because you don't want to impugn the integrity of the business of baseball is for saps. That said if you get caught ban them for life. The risk you take.

Between the Arod decision, the Hall of Fame controversy and the Cubs' mascot, it's been a pretty rough PR week for baseball.

Wow, the arbitration decision is pretty horrible. The logic, or lack thereof, is about as bad as I've seen in an opinion.
What makes you say that? You privy to all the details?
All the details? No. But the decision was made public as part of ARod's suit in Federal Court to overturn the arbitration. So, while I don't actually know the testimony, I do know the opinion verbatim.
And what exactly concerns you about the decision? Seemed pretty spot on to me.

Explain to me why he deserved a 162 game suspension based upon the current rules.

Yeah i still dont understand how the agreement calls for suspensions of 50, 100, and 150 games and he got 162. Plus the arbitrator said he used three different substances so he considered that three separate violations. As if the other guys only used once?

The ruling reads as though he decided to suspend ARod for a year and then tried to come up with a BS way to get to 162. Plus, he suspended him for the playoffs too, which makes the term non-definite - counter to every other suspension allowed for under the JDA. His reading of the JDA would earn him an F on a contracts exam.

If he were limited only to the JDA, perhaps. But, the obstruction of the investigation opens ARod to further penalties provided by the Basic Agreement. ARod got off easy.

Multiple substances infractions over a considerable period of time and obstruction of the investigation. Thee penalty structure as laid out in the JDA is not limiting or absolute. It is a guideline under which just cause for additional sanctions/penalties were provided in cases like this, particularly given the totality of the infraction(s) and attempted cover-up.

Dodgers sign journeyman lefty Clayton Kershaw with a 7 year, 215 million dollar contract and invite him to major league camp.
a max of 32 starts per season so lets say 30 starts a year. that's a million dollars a start. if he throws 100 pitches per game...that's $10,000 a pitch. hope everyone's having a great day at work like i am now!!

Amazing what LOOGYs are getting this off-season
Mark Mulder just fired his agent.
Remember when the Cards traded Dan Haren to get him? Good times.
The universe still needed to be balanced from the Brock/Broglio deal. That trade did it.

It is a legitimate deal for him relative to the rest of the league, but it still seems insane to me to make that much of a commitment to any pitcher.

10K a pitch WTF! I am sorry I just can't get my head wrapped around this figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget warm-up pitches, throws to first, throws for a fresh baseball. It gets that price per pitch down to something respectable.
In fairness to CK, he doesn't just wake up in the morning and go to the ballpark 30 times a year. There's training and workouts/lifting, throw days, etc. Baseball has become a job that's probably around a 300-day-a-year commitment. So I mean, ya know, pffft...it's really only like a hundred thousand dollars a day when you think about it.

I guess Melvin thinks Juan Francisco didn't strike out enough for his taste

A good source confirms #Brewers are close to signing Mark Reynolds to be the everyday first baseman. Story coming to the site.
His race to break the Brewers' single season strikeout record will keep the home fans interested in September

The Braves going to take Heyward into the arb hearing over a difference of $300k (5.5mil vs. 5.2). :loco:

Wren is in way over his head.

This is stupid. One of those things a player/agent will remember when its time for free agency and the Braves are looking for a hometown discount.
