So, uh, are the Rangers just trying to sell a few extra tickets to Spring Training games?

They want him to make motivational speeches.
Not a bad way to spend 12 grand. Have a guy who is clearly a winner and competitor hang out with the rookies and young guys for a few weeks, take some hacks, field some grounders, etc. All about having a winning environment around your team at all levels.

Plus Texas has a thing for football players, go figure.

So they trade Dexter Fowler because he's expensive, but spend 5.5 mil per on a LOOGY.

Makes sense.

@TBTimes_Rays: #Rays apparently got their man Loney back, per reports from @Buster_ESPN and @Ken_Rosenthal, at $21 million for 3 years

Seems reasonable.

Infante to kc for 4/30. Yanks offered 3/27
Thoughts on this fantasy wise for Infante ? He was a pleasant surprise last year.
hes never been much of a fantasy option
He was a solid fill in last year. 2B is such a black hole for fantasy purposes. A guy who can hit .280-.300 can be useful. I see him as a nice guy to target at the end of a draft/auction if you have to start a 2B AND a MI.

Juan Uribe gets 2 years, $15 mil to return to the Dodgers.

We should all admire Uribe for all that he's been able to milk out of his pathetic career.

Despite being a huge fat-###, he does somehow manage to put up really good defensive numbers. He's pretty valuable when he hits decently, which curiously seems to happen in contract years. I guess the benefit of a 2 year contract is that 50% of the years are contract years.

Mike Pelfrey back to the Twins. They're also very interested in Arroyo. After already signing Nolasco and Hughes.

Can't recall the last time a team has overhauled their rotation with so much mediocrity.

Mark Ellis to the red birds on a 1 year deal.

Great insurance if Wong doesn't pan out. At least becomes a platoon guy since Wong is weak against lefties (he bats lefty).
Not too shabby with the glove either. Will be interested to see the compensation he receives, but it will be pretty hard for it to be a bad move on a one-year agreement.
I could see him sticking around beyond the year if he pans out. By all accounts, he'll fit in the clubhouse perfectly. He may need to learn to play 3rd (only 8 games there in his career), but I don't see why he couldn't play there occasionally.

I don't doubt your homer acumen :)

But just because a guy is a good 2B doesn't necessarily mean he will be a good, or even competent 3B.

I do think it is a good signing though and hope that he can in fact play some 3B and even SS.

He will be 37 next year. He has played 1314 of his 1342 games at 2B. Might be too late to switch him to utility infield guy.
3B is easier on the defensive spectrum than 2B, where he is already a master. He could handle it.
Actually, 3b and 2b are roughly equivalent.

I had assumed they were giving 3rd to Carpenter. Am I wrong about that?

They are. I'm just thinking on days Carpenter needs a break or, god forbid, he gets hurt.

they have options w/ Peralta and Descalso.

Gavin Floyd to the Cobb County Braves. 1/$4M plus up to $4.5M in incentives. No team option in 2015 which is kind of surprising.

He had Tommy John surgery in May so he may not be ready on Opening Day. If healthy, he's no worse than a lot of guys.

Addison Reed to the D-backs for Matt Davidson.
Towers really seems to be all in for this year. Davidson probably will never be a star but he's better than Connor Gillaspie. Reed is arbitration eligible starting next year.
