2013 Official Dallas Cowboys Thread (1 Viewer)

There is no explaining this horrible ### decision away. This management sucks. Floyd on the board, a top 5 guy who fits their system or a STUD safety and they trade it away and only get a FLIPPIN' 3rd?

Idiots.

This is why 8-8 is all we are going to see with these ### clowns. So pissed.

Obviously Reid is a stud. San Fran traded up to get him. Maybe that should have been a hint since they were in the damn super bowl last year.

Such a moronic bunch of jack offs.
I love draft day.

Regroup. What on earth would happen today that could salvage this draft in your minds?

I honestly can't think of anything.

Well I am not happy with the way we conducted our business but we did need O line help. As long as Frederick can play it wont matter much where we drafted him in week 1, as long as he is the significant upgrade he looks to be.The management continues to blow opportunnities and I dont blame anyone for giving up on them but I cant give up on the players. Thats who I'm cheerig for every Sunday, not the clowns in the front office.

Hopefully we look at Schwenke and B Jones and use Frederick as an OG. We have to look at Oline, safety, running back and Dline with the next 4 picks.

Im not as mad as I was yesterday, but that trade value was really bad. I am ok with Frederick there wasnt really anyone at 31 that was obvious. I trust our scouts here.

Someone lock Jerry in a broom closet today.

 Good perspective. So frustrated, though, with the reckless buffoonery in how they manage the process of selecting and retaining their personnel. To me it's not a question as to whether or not Fredrick or Floyd will succeed or fail, but has far more to do with their distorted gestalt view of the process. There are many paths to getting a good G/C. This just happened to be a terrible return on value.

I'm hoping for Larry Warford at 47. Get back to an OL that can pound.

Part of me is extremely frustrated about last night. After reading a lot this morning, part of me is much more calm and accepting of what they did.

He was apparently 22nd on the Boys' board. He was the last of 5 OL that visited the Boys with the others all going before him. Its clear that they were going to go OL in either round 1 or 2. And with the heavy push of OL in round 1, they were almost forced to do this for fear of not getting anything of value at OL by 47. If Frederick really was 22 on their board, then this works. It fills a huge need which they were going to push one way or another and opens up the whole board the rest of the draft.

Jerry loves to trade...

This was before last night

25 trades that involve "Top 100" picks over the 19 drafts by Jerry Jones.

Nobody gives a #### where anyone is on jerry's board. He's a moron. They should know their strengths and go off a cheatsheet like the guy in your FFL league that drafts for 2 years ago production for lack of any better idea. Hell just take Kiper's board and use it. Can't be any worse.

My take is the trade was laughable, literally I laughed. How many picks do the Niners have?

Floyd is fool's gold. Omobi Okoye without the youth. There's a reason he rarely gets sacks, but that's not his main issue. His biggest weakness is a terrible base. He's too easily stoned. He can be dominated at the point of contact especially in the run game. He is pretty in NCAA space, space that doesn't exist in the NFL. His high media grade was clearly not his NFL reality grade. I think he was drafted too soon, and I expect little from him going forward.

Frederick is the exact opposite. A beast in close quarters. Dominate in the run game. Technically proficient, very alert, very smart, picks up stunts and blitzes and a stone cold anchor. OL penalties and stupidity will be reduced significantly. He's not so pretty in space, but he is still developing physically. I am pleased with this pick. Gil Brandt had him as a first rounder, and there is no way they could wait for 47.

It's just insane they didn't get another second round pick for the move down.

And another thing, stop getting so married to the guys that come and visit you. Especially if you are going to move out of your slot for no value.

It was no worse that the Justin Pugh or Kyle Long picks. Floyd seemed like better value, but lets see what they do with that extra pick. This could still be a good draft come midnight tonight.

Say that extra 3rd gets Leveon Bell io top of a S and DL.

You Gentlemen can convince yourself to whatever you wish..........this was just plain stupid. We have officially become the Tampa Bay Bucks when they wore that ugly ### orange uniform! We would be perfect if we just changed for ####### color to that ugly ### orange!

Again, I don't think anyone is complaining that Fredrick is a bad player.

You just can't let your top 4 OL go off the board and take .50 cents on the dollar for your valuable 18 spot to get a 3rd round pick and move (essentially) down to the 2nd round.

And, it's not as if C is the only area of need. We need at least another OL, the DL is underwhelming and needs a boost, and we have to address the S position. Four critical areas to address...so if you're going to make the decision to move down, you HAVE to get everything you can. Forget the getting a 2 and a 3 for the move down...I would have been fine with a 3 and a 4! But, you HAVE to get that 4th pick.

All this talk now about how Fredrick would have been taken early in the 2nd is just face-saving. He would have been there for us at 47.

The post draft press conference had some interesting findings. They spent a TON of time with Frederick. Got to know his personality. His work habits. They even sent Callahan to Wisconsin to work out this guy. He is very much a RKG. Smart, hard working. He is very strong and rarely gets pushed back. You're not likely to see him rag-dolled like Costa has been on many occasions.

Those plattitudes aside, it was very clear that they were absolutely positively going interior OL in round 1 or 2. And when the big OL push came, they probably did force this pick by half a round. They just were not going to risk losing this guy. They did say there was another guy drafted who had the same grade who was on the board at 18. So they equally liked either Pugh or Long.

I think they honestly did have him 22nd on their board. Now there is some significant need influence on this ranking. But if you're looking at what Dallas needs most, getting a physical presense in the middle of the OL is at the top of the list.

These 3 picks tonight will really turn this draft though. If they get 3 more solid contributors, it will be an overall success.

I dont think any Cowboys fan has a problem with the pick. I LOVE THE PICK. I DONT love the round in which it was made. The guy WOULD have been there at their 2nd round pick. WITHOUT question. I do love this guy though. He is a road grading bearded awesome guy that will probably be the guy we have been looking for for the last 10 years. The problems is he wasnt a VALUE pick.

The other problem is getting trade raped by the damn 49ers. How do you not hold out for a friggin 2nd? Make the pick yourself. Then you have Reid to dangle to San Fran. If they dont bite, then you have the best safety! The guy was a 4.0 student and was HIGHLY recruited by Stanford. That is a big deal to me.

I am a lot more upset with this trade than them taking the center. Whether or not Frederick graded out at that pick is beside the point to me. If the Cowboys had received proper compensation for the move down....then hey, grab the best Center in the draft and build with the extra picks. Jerry just proved he is a moron...again...and that he has no business whatsoever running a draft or a team. He is a bafoon. Does anyone see Ted Thompson making this horrible of a trade? The Falcons? The Pats? The Giants? No. Of course not.

Really not thrilled by the chatter about us targeting RB in rd 2. Not buying it either. Safety or DL with 47. After that, go hog wild on the RB, WR, QB stuff.

Here we go...

This is how I feel too. I guess the bottom line is that Dallas needs a "real" GM. Especially for this kind of stuff.

I am reading the Cowboys are targeting a RB this round too. Seems a little silly in my opinion. 3rd round WR and RB would be fine.

Jerry Jones said yesterday that he thought the Dline was a "strength of the team." Is he serious???? No depth. Rat isnt young.

We might get saved by AZC. Wouldn't be surprised if Cowboys take Bell, even if Lacy still on board. Really getting the vibe they want RB here with this pick, just depends who's higher on their board.

I'm just totally stumped with the Boys drafting this year.

Enough said about the drop back and reach yesterday.

Today they have needs at OL,DL,S and RB.

So what do they do with several players that fit needs on the board?

Yup, they go TE. :wall:

Everyone says great value here? Really, not for us!

Guy can catch and is big, but can he block?

I thought we were worried about getting a TE late that can block, no?

OL again would have been beautiful.

Maybe they have some FA's i.e. Winston on the hook as soon as Free drops off in June. Maybe just maybe.

I see no point in this pick whatsoever.

There are so many holes on this team. TE was NOT one of them.

OG, S, DL, RB, WR....hell, even a punter....not a TE. Hanna was solid and getting better. Witten is getting old but ISNT old. We dont need a TE at this point.

These guys have no friggin clue. Seriously. No one wanted to trade?

Oh boy...
I'm trying to figure out the tone of this post  Oh boy...(impending doom)Oh boy...(boredom)Oh boy...(sarcasm)
Oh boy...that is not what I wanted at all. I see no reason to draft a TE....none. Bell and Hawkins fly off the board as smart teams wait until we try to look smart.I admit I dont know a ton on this guy, but initial reaction is anger.
I'm not getting it either. Wanted safety-Swearinger maybe, or OL, or DL. Just totally don't get that pick. Thought Hanna looked good at the end of last, why pick another TE

I've really got nothing left other than mixed feelings that MAYBE the backlash and probably failure of the upcoming season may cause change. Would Jerry ever step down and admit defeat? Probably not so really just defeat for the fans.

So as we approach our pick what is the worst possible option? What if they have one of the QB's clearly as best value remaining?

We better score 35 points a game. One more value pick here in a few minutes. J. Franklin right?
