2015 - Le Tour (de France) (1 Viewer)

Pinot and Rolland have been a little disappointing. Especially Pierre Rolland. Thought he was stronger than he has shown so far.

What the heck happened to Voeckler? Was following online and it said he was in the lead pack for awhile, now he is no where to be found on the stage classification.

What the heck do I know. Very casual fan. Heard of him and thought he was good all around rider. Not complaining, just an unknowing observation.

Pretty big deal for Quintana to not lose time today. After he dumped a minute and a half already, this could have been a really bad stage for him.

Another crash fest today. Checking in occasionally online, seems like there is crash/pile up every time I check in.

Oh, and my team sucks. Lol.

4 points total through 4 stages from Sylvain Chavanel, Thomas Voeckler, Pierre Rolland, Thibaut Pinot and Andrew Talansky. 0.2 points per stage per rider.

Wasn't expecting much from Chavanel and Voeckler. Maybe some break away points. The others are more disappointing.

I doubt the GC guys really look to ride hard tomorrow, but it could be interesting if they do with a cat 4 climb 30 kms from the finish and then a punch 7% climb for 800 meters into the finish. Classified as a sprint stage so 3km crash rule is in effect, but a classics or GC guy is going to win the stage. My guess is there is a break and it stays away, but hopefully the GC guys want to test each other again.

Way to go Astana!

As if Astana weren't already playing the role of pantomime villains convincingly enough, one of their riders appears to have hit a six-year-old girl in the head with a bidon yesterday, leaving her needing stitches.

How does an empty bottle do that?
I have no idea what type of bottles they are using, but if they are the cheapest throwaway stuff, the lids/tops are generally made of fairly hard plastic...much harder than a Camelback bottle for instance.

Stage Finish - holy wow, Sagan was flying...
Came out of nowhere.
I finally caught the full replay this morning... Sagan was actually doing a great job holding Greipel's wheel, but got boxed out when he broke. Had he been able to stay with him, I have to imagine he would have had an easy win.
I'm not sure about that...part of the reason Griepel won was he timed his effort to the amount of time he would be in the headwind to perfection...Kristoff (who had to once Renshaw pulled off) and Cav (who should have waited) went much too earlier (400 meters). Yes Sagan was boxed in, but he if he hadn't been, he would have been in the wind sooner and died like the rest of them.

In any case, I'll sort of be surprised if he doesn't win today...Tinkoff certainly thinks he should as well.

Not a good tour for the wearer of the Maillot Jaune. 2 active yellow jersey wearers crash out of the tour so far. First time in one year 2 yellow jersey riders have abandoned the tour (according to Wiki).

Martin pulls out...Froome in yellow for tomorrow...though my guess is TJ takes it over after the TTT on Sunday. Sky may let a break go (I mean really go) tomorrow though since I doubt they want to be defending going into the mountains. Only thing stopping them is tomorrow is one of the last best sprint stages.

Sucks for Tony Martin. No crash is minor but that didn't look like a crash that would break a collarbone. You could tell by the way he's holding his arm though.

Just watched the stage. What the hell was Martin doing there? Looked like he jerked right for no reason and caused the crash. Unreal.

Never mind. On closer replay he touched a wheel in front of him. Sucks. Bad luck it seems.

in retrospect, he does go down right on his left shoulder. I can understand the collarbone in that case.

Hell of a sprint finish there.
Yeah...Griepel and Sagan still aren't quite the pure sprinter Cav is when Cav times it right. It also took some balls from Cav to stay on Griepel's wheel instead of moving to Renshaw's, but it was the right call.

If Sagan keeps getting these time bonuses he could move up to yellow.

Unfortunately the mountains start next week.
