A great day in sport. As always, I hope a player wears a fireman red suit.

Hoping for a bang from the Celtics, but expecting a whimper.

Something about the overload of rumors just makes me think they don't have enough to complete a trade for an All-Star.

7am Mock Draft

1. TWolves - KAT

2. Lakers - Okafor

3. Orlando* - Prozingis

4. Knicks - Russell

5. Philly* - Mudiay

6. Sacramento - Winslow

7. Denver - Stanley Johnson

8. Detroit - Super Mario

9. Charlotte - Frank Kaminsky

10. Miami - WCS

11. Indiana - Myles Turner

12. Utah - Trey Lyles

13. Phoenix - Cameron Payne

Id be surprised if Orlando moved up to take a guy that could very well be there at 5. I expect Philly to keep the pick and take Russell.

Philly moves down, acquires more assets and drafts Hezonja. IF there's a player they covet at 14....they'll move OKC's pick next year back to OKC for the 14 and some salary dump.

Like the OKC idea a lot for Philly. Do you think taking on Novak and P Jones would be enough? That would be about $5.75 + whatever they would have to pay #14.

Still thanking God that the ping pong balls bounced our way and we not only kept the pick, but moved up two spots. Lucky to be at the 2 spot with a clear top 3. I think all 3 will be All-star caliber players.

Assuming the Wolves take Towns, I'm slightly favorable to D'Angelo Russell over Jahlil Okafor. Happy with either of them though.

At 27, hopefully we find a SF like Justin Anderson or RHJ. 34 will probably be a Euro stash.

Looking forward to an exciting day.

1. MIN- Towns

2. LA- Somebody unlikable

3. PHI- Asset

4. NYK- Trade for a bum

5. ORL- Most athletic player available

Boom, just saved you time tonight.

Rumors are at an all time crazy overload.

If you believe what you read today, 29 teams are trying to acquire Aldridge and Cousins.....AND move up in the draft.

I love everything about the draft except how trades usually aren't announced until after the player is picked. That forces the player to have to answer interview questions and analysts to explain "fits" to the viewers for a team everyone will know he won't be on 15 minutes later. I wish they'd change the rules so it would work like the NFL draft and the trades are announced before the pick.

And Houston is trying to get Aldridge AND Love
I think you are misreading that report - they are looking at ways to get enough room to get one of them. That would mean getting rid of Ariza and probably Jones.

They also have Kostas Papilikoua's deal which is non-guaranteed until 10/4, which means he can be traded as a salary dump up until the beginning of october.

at some point i am kind of hoping hoops free agency will start before the draft. this makes sense in putting together a roster, so i suppose this will never occur.

I think Russell is the wrong choice at #2. I believe Okafor is the obvious guy here. He's Tim

Duncan.
I disagree. The reason JO slipped from #1 has to do with his defense and a perception that he doesn't love the game, he isn't hungry. Forde was saying that his agents brought in a bunch of new trainers since the season ended and he had no interest in working with them. He's been using the same trainer since 8th grade and has said repeatedly he will "stick to the script."

No one would ever accuse Duncan of being apathetic or not trying on defense.

I usually support picking the best player available, but if the Lakers have a legit shot at Aldridge or Love, I can understand not drafting another big.

How is Russell on defense?
He's fine. Not a star or anything at this point and he's not an amazing athlete so he'll never be an all-defensive team guy, but he's got great vision and a high basketball IQ so he should be ok once he learns the schemes and what not.
