2015 Shark Pool mock draft - The first one (1 Viewer)

Well since you're here, Doc Oc, I'll make the Washington pick.

3.69 - Chris Hackett, FS - TCU

He's gaining momentum as a prospect and is likely a high 2nd or even low 1st round pick now. The Redskins' safety play was atrocious last year.

He was a leader on the filthy good TCU defense last year.

So the Redskins are happy with their RG3 led offense as they grab 3 defenders? Just curious as I haven't been following them all that closely lately.

I am fine with a 1 hour time limit on picks from here on out...

No, but if they don't take the remainder of Winston/Mariotta in the 1st then what's the point? The rest of these guys are stiffs and are a waste of pick any earlier than the 4th.

I'm really liking the Jets draft so far. Not sure what old man Chan Gailey can do with their offense, but the picks are good.

Is there anyone that is uber smart and has loads of time on their hands to do a Draft Breakdown, team by team?

It'd be interesting to have that, then look back end of season, and see how hits become misses, and misses become hits. (nto to dog the doing the analysis, because we all know that guys getting paid millions gets this stuff wrong alllllllllll the time)

I'm not nearly smart enough to do that and won't have the time until after the weekend.

Gailey is basically the godfather of the pistol/fast paced type offenses. I think as long as Winston (here) or whoever ends up quarterbacking the team is competent the offense should be fine. We're talking about a guy that made Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tyler Thigpen productive QBs.

Yes, three good picks for the Jets but...no WR?

They're going to release Harvin and the rest of it...oooof.
Decker is actually a very good WR, who suffered under Geno's inaccuracy. The guy can play. Kerely is a decent enough possession type, and they will need Amaro to step up. They could/should also address the position in free agency.

Yes, I like Decker. But he's not a #1. Really good complimentary guy though.

Sorry for not making it here in time. I think this is a geat pick for Washington.

Eh, not your fault. We didn't really agree/disagree on whether or not we were doing the 3rd round at all.

Glad you approve of the pick.

I really enjoy these mock drafts. I think they should be a weekly or biweekly thing. Starts Monday ends Friday. Those who were one in already, have to pick a different team each time. That said I don't have the patience to organize this. I'm guessing they will get quicker the more we get to know all the prospects.

In

3.71 - Chicago - Jaquiski Tartt, SS - Samford

Your new starting safety on the all-name team, this small school prospect is also moving up the boards after a good showing at the Senior Bowl.

3.72 - St Louis - Hroniss Grasu, C - Oregon

They need all the o-linemen they can get.

Atlanta is up.

3.73 Atlanta Tre Jackson G Florida State

The draft really hasn't fallen the way I was hoping for in rounds 2 + 3. Oh well. The reasoning...

Justin Blalock is an expensive and aging G. Falcons need to solidify the OL. Jackson fills a major need.

Falcons have a good bit of cap space so hopefully they can address their defensive woes in free agency -

Good grab, was eyeing him for HOU a few spots later to pair with XSF.

Likewise for Miami.

Interesting to see Tevin Coleman drop this far. I don't expect that on draft day(s).
Neither do I. I had thought about taking him with the Jags' 3rd rounder but he should have been long gone by now.

Danielle Hunter was another guy that went far too low here.

I considered him for the Raiders 3rd round pick, I like Latavius Murray but he hasn't been the main ball carrier for a whole season yet and who knows how well he will hold up and not much after him on the depth chart. plus it couldn't hurt to surround Carr with more weapons. However, the need for DE was much greater then the need for a RB.

At this point, I think we'd see Philly trading up for Hundley.
Doubt it. More likely they take Bryan Bennett in the 6th/7th.
Why would that be more likely?
Bennett played for Chip Kelly in Oregon. The asking price on him is smaller. Non first round quarterbacks rarely pan out. Hundley lacks a great pocket presence. Hundley has issues reading defenses. Hundley doesn't really have great anticipation as a passer.

They are better off using this pick on offensive guard depth because they missed on that last year when Howie said there was a run on offensive linemen like he's never seen before. Mathis and Herremans aren't getting any younger.

edited to add: I really don't like Hundley. I think they role with Foles if Mariota doesn't make it into the teens and it doesn't look like Mariota's making it past 6 (Jets).

That much is clear.

I don't think he's great either. But we're in the 3rd round now and he might be worth the gamble here. Athletically, he's just what Kelly is looking for.

He should have come out last year.

3.67 - Jacksonville - Jake Fisher, OT - Oregon

3.68 - Oakland - Trey Flowers DE Arkansas

Thought hard about taking Tevin Coleman for the Jaguars.
Thanks for taking the list Andy.

3.68 - Oakland - Trey Flowers DE Arkansas

It's no secret that the Raiders have one of the worst defensive lines in the league especially at DE. The Raiders finished near the bottom in sacks on the season. I do expect them to address some of the defensive line in free agency this season. However adding more playmakers and depth at the defensive line is a must.

Trey Flowers can not only get after the QB but does well in the run game as well. He has extremely long arms to help swat down balls and he is adept at creating fumbles. He would replace Woodley who was a big dissapointment.

Here is the Raiders draft so far:

Amari Cooper WR Alabama

Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA

Trey Flowers DE Arkansas

With this draft the Raiders added an offensive playmaker to help further Carr's development and the Raiders need a #1 WR in the worst way and Cooper will provide that for the Raiders.

With rounds 2 & 3 the Raiders added more playmakers to the defensive side of the Ball in Kendricks and Flowers. The Raiders had one of the worst defenses in the league last season and need some upgrades like Kendricks and Flowers. AT LB the Raiders now have a young trio of Mack, Kendricks, and Moore. Adding a young DE like Flowers who can learn from Justin Tuck for a year or two is great. Tuck has been an excellent team leader since he came over from the Giants.

HOU selects WR Rashad Greene, FSU.

Time for the Texans to start thinking beyond AJ at the WR position. Very excited to see him and Hopkins lined up together.

And if someone doesn't pick Tevin Coleman before I'm on the clock again later in the 3rd, I might grab him just to keep him away from the Colts despite having taken Abdullah in the 2nd.

Since Slapdash made the comment about Jackson being taken, he should be happy to get the better player in Matias.

I'm going to make this pick because Borden is here to make the Bills' pick.

78 Miami - Josue Matias, OG - Florida State
79 San Francisco - Tre McBride, WR - William & Mary
80 Kansas City - Rob Havenstein, OT - Wisconsin

Matias went 55th already.

Pwingles (niners) texted me order of need as Edge, corner, wr, te.

Za'Darius Smith DE
Jacoby Glenn CB
Clive Walford TE

Not sure Mcbride is even a 5th round talent.

He was already drafted. Not sure there is another guard worth it here....I'll take Coleman. In a meeting so will write up later.

All right, I'll put ZD Smith in there. Change made above.

McBride is making waves in the pre-draft process.

3.81 - Bills - OLB/DE - Hau'oli Kikaha - Washington

Jerry Hughes could be gone and as a pure pass rush option I like this pick.

Assuming the team is going to take care of RB in FA. No pick in the 4th but the draft isn't attacking QBs and there's some deeper QBs that I might prefer over Hundley.
