2015 Shark Pool mock draft - The first one (1 Viewer)

Casual Titans fans boo at Radio City Music Hall for lack of a QB
They think that Hundley or Grayson is better than Mettenberger?
Casual fans are often ignorant.
I'm not ripping the pick personally. I like Mettenberger and I don't know the CBs.
that's what took me the longest to figure out. Still don't know if PJ is the best available. But I read good things, he played adequately in big games, and fits a need.

With the second pick of the second round in the 2015 NFL draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

Nate Orchard, DE, Utah

The Bucs need help on both the offensive and defensive lines, but with so many tackles already taken they decide to take one of the best pass rushers in the draft at this spot. Michael Johnson was mostly a free agent bust in 2014 and with disappointments DaQuan Bowers and/or Adrian Clayborn likely to leave the team they need some talented depth here.

Orchard was one of this season's breakout players. He was a pass-rushing animal for the Utes with huge pass pressure. Orchard has a fast first-step with the speed to turn the corner. He also has strength to shed blocks and holds up well in run defense. At the Senior Bowl, Orchard had a strong week of practice and showed that he could have the athleticism to move to 3-4 outside linebacker, although he prefers playing end in a 4-3.

Orchard's pass-rushing ability was on display all year. In 2014, the senior had 17.5 sacks with 84 tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles and two passes batted. He notched four sacks against UCLA.

As a junior, Orchard had 50 tackles with 8.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks, so he demonstrated a huge improvement as a senior. Orchard had 48 tackles with three sacks as a sophomore.
Senior Bowl highlights:

Utah’s Nate Orchard is impressive. He’s very quick off the snap and can bend the edge. He beat one of the top offensive linemen at the Senior Bowl, Pittsburgh tackle T.J. Clemmings, with both speed and swim moves.

The Ted Hendricks Award winner (best college defensive end), said he prefers to work in a 4-3 system, but he showed he can move well in space and stand up. He played a reverse perfectly, staying disciplined and making an open-field tackle. He got an interception later on in practice when he read a screen pass.

Only reason he fell to you.

krsone21 is picking for the Raiders but he also sent me this PM (I removed a couple guys that were already taken)

These are all players I think the Raiders will consider. These players are in no particular order. If I gave the positions priority by greatest need I would go WR which you already addressed with Cooper in the 1st, DE, ILB, DT, OL.

OL: Wisniewski could be leaving via free agency and the Raides RT spot was a mess last season. Erving is versatile and can play center and possibly tackle.

Ty Sambrailo OT Colorado State

DL: The Raiders need help up and down the defensive line. They could use another pass rusher being near the bottom in the league in sacks and could use a definiate upgrade at the DT position as well.

Jordan Phillips DT Oklahoma
Carl Davis DT Iowa
Michael Bennett DT Ohio State

ILB: The Raiders in my opinion could use a big upgrade at the ILB position. They have Nick Roach coming back from a season ending concussion which lasted all season long, one more hit could end his career and the other MLB Miles Burris had to be the worst starting MLB last season in the league.

Denzel Perryman ILB Miami(Fla.)
Benardrick McKinney ILB Mississippi State
Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA
I leave it up to you guys as I'm picking for the Jaguars next.

To elaborate a bit on the 2 picks I made earlier:

Colts front 7 needs a boost so they'll take

1.29 Arik Armstead, DE - Oregon
Armstead is a 6'7 290 lb freak of an athlete who is probably a bit raw and high on potential. Colts front 7 desperately needs athletes as well as anyone who can stop the run. Sounds like he might get snatched up earlier in the 1st based on his drool-worthy potential.

Seattle could use an O-line upgrade

1.31 A.J. Cann, OG - South Carolina
Seahawks have a couple needs, OG being one. Cann seems to be the top ranked guard and is projected to go in the 2nd. A powerful blocker who was a leader at SC with 38 starts under his belt.

Carr seems to be their future and they've already started investing in the offense with Cooper.

Plus, he's singled out a single guy there so we don't need to debate who to pick from the group.

With pick 2.03 in the 2015 NFL Draft the Oakland Raiders select Eric Kendricks ILB.

The Raiders have a need at ILB, They currently have Nick Roach who missed all of last season with a concussion and is probably one concussion away from retirement. They also used Miles Burris and he had to be the worst MLB in the league last season. Mack, Moore, and Kendricks will make a formidable LB crew for a long time.

any particular reason you took him over Perryman?

2.04 - Jaguars - Denzel Perryman, ILB - Miami (FL)

The Jags staff coached him at the Senior Bowl and had good things to say (what else are they going to say, I know).

"He stands out, just in his ability to pick things up. You can sense his leadership, right when he steps on the field," said Bradley, who got his start in the NFL as the Bucs' linebackers coach from 2006-08. "He's got a presence about him."
Kendricks Vs. Perryman is an interesting debate. I'd have had the Jags take Perryman first and Kendricks 2nd but it's really close. I really like both these guys (and more than McKinney).

Posluszny is coming off an ACL tear and much like the Vikings' Greenway still racks up the tackles but has clearly lost at least a step and needs to be nothing more than depth.

No particular reason to be honest. I was going back and forth between the two. I couldn't make up my mind so I just chose one.

The Bucs will be in the mix for these linebackers as well if/when Mason Foster leaves. This would be a great way for the draft to fall for them.

With a draft that's light on offensive line talent, I think a double shot of Ray and Perryman (should they play up to their ability) would be a big boost to the Jaguars prospects.

Then if they can figure out a way to sign a top FA RB....

I like this pick for the Raiders, since it will give them a nice trio of young LBs to utilize in a lot of formats/options - including an increase in pressure when rushing the passer from any number of directions. This in turn takes the onus off of their secondary which hasn't been to good the last couple of seasons. I made a fortune in the past by having Oakland safeties/CBs on my IDP squad.

And UCLA LBs have for the most part been productive in the pros.

33 Tennessee - PJ Williams
34 Tampa Bay - Nate Orchard
35 Oakland - Eric Kendricks
36 Jacksonville - Denzel Perryman

On the clock
37 NY Jets

38 Washington
39 Chicago
40 New York Giants
41 St. Louis

NYJ select: Cameron Erving C/OG - Florida St

Picking for value here as well as a position of need. While Nick Mangold still has a few years left the team can move Erving to guard for a few years where they had some serious holes last season. Erving played both C and OT at FSU, so he's versatile.

Going with back to back Seminoles is purely coincidental but I guess it will help make our rookie QB a little more comfortable in New Jersey.
Sorry, no. Went to the Panthers as a make up pick after initially selecting Ogbuehi.

My bad for having it mis-spelled on page 1.

Oh - missed that.

Re-pick for NYJ

Jalen Collins - CB - LSU

This team is devoid of talent at the CB position. While I expect the team to add a corner in free agency, this pick will provide depth and push Dee Milliner, who has looked like a bust thus far.

Chicago picks Quinten Rollins CB Miami (OH)

Would like to take a Safety, but after the kid from Alabama, the talent drops. Need a CB to take opposite of Fuller and take over for Jennings when his time is up. Also the Bears get caught in the run of CB's that just went off the board, this happens all the time in the real draft.

Other options is OLB like Orchird or Harold if available. May be even take Brett Hundley to put some pressure on Cutler, he could sit a year and learn, because he's not ready right now to play. QB pick would be a big if for Gase and Fox, but you never know.

This really is a great exercise as it gets some of the individual team's perceived needs exposed to the rest of us not in the know.

With pick 2.40, the NY Giants select Devin Funchess, WR, Michigan.

Pairing a WR with the size and physicality of Funchess with ODB is an OC's dream. I'd like to see Philly, Wash, and Dallas matchup with ODB, Funchess, and Randle on the outside while having to deal with the power run game led by Williams and first rounder Scherff. The defense will certainly need to be addressed but Eli is given everything possible on offense to lead this team back to the Super Bowl.

1.9 Brandon Scherff

2.40 Devin Funchess

As a WR or TE? Donell chopped liver?

JettMaxx, were you presuming that Victor Cruz won't be back when making this pick?

I envision Funchess as a Benjamin, Jeffery type on the outside. On the other size of ODB?!? That's insane.

Cruz's injury was a bad one but if he comes back mid season next year, he can go back to his slot position where he earned his $$.

You have high hopes there.

Hard to see a quick player like Cruz regaining his speed and ability to cut following such a serious knee injury like that. :2cents:

2.41 - St Louis Rams - Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB - Oregon

The Rams look to have struck gold with last year's pick of EJ Gaines, but they still need more as Janoris Jenkins appears to have hit a bit of a wall in his development.

2.42 Atlanta Falcons - Jay Ajayi, RB - Boise State

In the early rounds of the draft the Falcons are going to need to hit on solid picks. I was hoping one of the better LB prospects would have fallen but with Mckinney, Hendricks and Perryman off the board they will need to look for help in another area.

In the second round the Falcons select Boise State RB Jay Ajayi.

Steven Jackson is done and will be let go, and the RB's left in the Falcon stable are pretty bare. Antone Smith (injury) and Jacquizz Rogers are both free agents too. That leaves undersized Devonta Freeman as the only RB left. While Freeman did a good job as a rookie he is not the bell cow the Falcons need to transition into a more balanced offense.

Ajayi is a big back physically similar to Marshawn Lynch. And the Falcons hope so too.

2.43 - CLEVELAND BROWNS : Eli Harold DE/OLB, Virginia

For the third pick in a row, I feel I've stolen a player.

Browns have a need for a guy like Harold, in both positions, and he really fits the 3-4 well.

Freakish and athletic as as hell. A Pettine type defensive guy

Andy and all I am so sorry for not making my Rams picks. The fam and I were at Disney last week and I didn't bring my laptop with me cause I didn't know we were starting last week.

I agree with the Rams taking oline with the first pick, not sure about the cb with the 2nd. I actually still believe in Jenkins and yourright, Gaines was a stud. I could see Beckum being the Rams pick int eh 2nd round. Missouir kid and we have shown recently to take a chance on players with trouble. He would really add depth to a wr core that needs that downfield threat.

I am not a big Britt fan and don't know how Quick will come back.

I do like Bailey a lot but doubt Austin will ever be more than a gadget player.

Again, sorry for holding you all up.

Please let me take the Rams next time.
