2016-17 NBA Thread: Finals are over, please go away (1 Viewer)

Celts 1/13 3 point range. Need some better luck and they are in this game. As it is, hard to recover from that

not that it would matter and sure they got several days off in the last series, but it's kind of ####ed up in a way that the Cavs get 88 days rest and the Celts have to come back after a 7-game series after 1 day and only have 1 day between every game this series.

Though the 2-week bye leading up to the finals will be restful.

There is really no point in making excuses or complaining about the refs.  There is simply nothing Boston can do this series.  Cleveland's starters are a million times better and unlike Washington, Cleveland has a very deep bench.

How would you fix this?

That's the advantage of sweeping in the 2nd round, while the "1 seed" took 7 games to win their 2nd round series.

Just a timely reminder that Boston never considered trading for Boogie.
Sixers gave Noel away for peanuts. i have to think other teams could have gotten him real cheap, and he certainly would help the Celts a bit. there is the other side of being too cautious and valuing your hand way too much, which may have occurred with some teams

The NBA should seriously consider contracting to 4 teams, doing away with the regular seasons, and contesting four playoffs for titles each year.

The difference between Ball and Joshua Jackson isn't large enough to have to deal with this kind of circus.

Congrats to the Lebrons for making their 7th straight finals.
i think the whole NBA would suffer if the Ball family does not go to the Lakers. honestly seems like a fun match-up. Knicks could be funny too. Kings and Magic would be funny for Lavar, though i have made a very deliberate effort to avoid any news about Lavar

Will the combination of FAs, Lonzo Ball, and natural progression of players currently on the roster make up for the losses of Lou Williams and Nick Young? Probably not honestly.
:lmao:

The Lakers certainly won't be winning a title in the next couple of seasons, but Lou Williams and Nick Young are eminently replaceable. Sweet Lou is a solid scorer off the bench and Swaggy P is now a threat from 3...but that's about it.  Neither plays defense and one of them tends to be a disaster off the court.  These type of one-dimensional players tend to be wildly overrated by fans.  Outside of very specific team situations they just aren't worth what they think they are and that usually leads to problems.

The Lakers needs to select Ball 2nd overall and get the Showtime back.  Do that and the magnet of the LA market will eventually land a superstar to put alongside him, Ingram, and whatever other young players pan out.  Let those brutal Mosgov and Deng contracts get one year closer to expiring and maybe at this time next year they'll be able to dump one of them.

Landing that #2 pick (and keeping their 2019 1st while sending 2018 to Philly) was the biggest domino that had to fall their way though.  With that the Lakers are now in position to turn that team around...even without such dignitaries as Lou Williams and Nick Young.

I hope Cavs sweep. Let's just get these playoffs over with. These two conference finals are the worst in NBA history. Both league darling superteams are beating the competition by at least 20 each night. The state of the league is just stupid at this point.

Just a shame that Leonard got hurt.   That game 2 would've been intense with GS down 0-1.
