He wore out his time in Denver, but holy #### is that looking like a steal for Portland. I would have rather the Nuggets just cut him rather than trade a first round pick away to get a backup center that is about to hit a big pay day.

The joke is that everyone deep down knows that James is the MVP, but like Jordan in the 90s, it's boring to give it to the clear cut best player every year.

He is behind Harden and Westbrook in just about every advanced stat metric. I believe he is still the best player, but is sandbagging a bit, keeping his teammates involved and making them a better team in preparation for the playoffs.  Basically, he could be the MVP if that were his goal, but right now he isn't playing for the MVP and therefore isn't as high on the stats as he needs to be to pass those two up.

It is a two horse race and rightfully so.  MVP doesn't mean best potential player, but the best player as they performed this season.  Right now he hasn't been the best player during the 2016-17 regular season.

James has career high stats in quite a few categories.  Plus, I know some hate this argument, but his value to the Cavs is more than obvious.  Take him off that team and they'd be lucky to be a playoff team.  

I don't care how many triple-doubles Westbrook gets; he should not be in the MVP discussion.  The idea of the MVP being from a team on pace to win 46 games is just not plausible, especially when that guy is a 42% shooter.

He's also averaging the most assists and rebounds (and turnovers) of his career. If he wasn't Lebron James, his play this year combined with his team's success would make him the favorite for MVP.

They both still have it to some degree, right?  It's not like they stopped shooting baskets even as a hobby.  Ice can probably still go out about 15 feet along the baseline, take two steps out of bounds, and launch a rainbow over the backboard and through the hoop.  And Barry is probably still an 80% free throw shooter.

I briefly considered having the coaching staffs go 5-on-5 to 21 by 2s and 3s, but after looking over the potential rosters GSW would roll.  Kerr can probably still shoot 3s.  No one on the SAS staff could check Willie Green (to be fair Becky Hammon could probably cross Green over and get in the lane herself).  

 
I really don't know who I would vote for if I had an MVP vote this year.  Sentimentally, I'd like to see Kawhi get it since he's emblematic of the kind of hoops philosophy I grew up playing.  But in fairness Harden and Westbrook are having incredible seasons; Harden's development at the 1 has been unreal and Westbrook's intensity and athleticism deserve acknowledgment.  Yet LeBron is still the best player in the game.  

Meh, I'd probably just vote for Kobe.

Peter Vecsey.  He was snarky before snarky was cool.  He tried to get traction on "Sir Cumference" as a nickname for Charles Barkley, and was an early adopter of "Spawn Kemp" when the big SI story about the large number of illegitimate children fathered by 1990s NBA players first ran.

I got to go to the Pistons game today. As I watched the game I couldn't help but think that Phil Jackson has some nerve trying to get Love for Melo. I wouldn't trade a mid 2018 1st for Melo.

I think I remember that play- he got right up and apologized to McCollum, I think it was.  

Of course he also got shoved so hard into the stanchion on a driving layup (somehow not called) that he couldn't get up to get back on defense, resulting in a 4 on 5 the other way and a wide-open Aminu corner three for a five point swing with about two minutes left in the OT.

i wish the sixers would sign orlando woolrige to a contract for the rest of the year and just full commit to the tank mostly because i just really think orlando is a kicbutt first name take that the sunshine state as a name bank brohans 

 
i am a gigantic labron homer no two real ways about it and i wish larry sanders the best in his battles but jeez louise of the formers bucks the cavs seem to love signing i would rather have bogut be the one that does good by a billion times and not sanders that guy along with brandon i stink the bag jennings and monta lonta crappy shots ellis did there best to ruin the bangos so i do not know what to do here bromigos take that to the dear abby bank bromigos 

 
Mozgov and Deng were awesome last night. Their performances were so powerful they eradicated any mention of either player in the box score - not even a DNP listing. Jimmy and Mitch must be proud.

 
Haven't watched a single Grizzlies game this year. I didn't realize how awful Parsons has been this year 6PPG 33FG%. 1st year of max deal. 

Chandler Parsons has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the meniscus in his left knee.
We just heard rumblings from several Memphis beat writers that Parsons was likely going to be shut down, so now we know why. While this is not the knee that Parsons has had surgically repaired twice, it's still a major setback. He's "out indefinitely" and it's possible we won't see him again this season. With Parsons out, James Ennis, Vince Carter and Troy Daniels could see a bump in minutes, but there are no great pickups.
 
id really like to see the bangos make it seven in a row tonight and get a game up in the ever exciting race for eight in the east come on buckarinos take that to the bank buckhans
