GahhhhWas that the first close game of the series? I think it's more likely Houston wins the next 2 over anything else.

No. It was the worst effort I've ever seen by an MVP candidate in a must win game. Ever. At home in a game 6? It was out of body, Twilight Zone stuff. If he goes 5-25 so be it. But when the season was on the line he didn't even want the ball in his hands. Seriously, he looked drugged. At the post conference too. He had no energy. No quickness. Zero defensive effort. Just a total zero. He hurt the team in every facet of the game. I'll go on record now as saying he will never live down this performance the rest of his career. It will haunt him. Soft. He's going to get the Dwight Howard treatment. Unless he wins a championship he'll be remembered for tonight. Can anyone remember more of a pathetic no-show in an otherwise competitive series than Harden tonight? I'd be super pissed if I was a Rockets fan.

and Cappy knows no shows...seasons that is...oh who am I kidding...ducking Melo.I love that Westbrook and harden will finish 1-2 in MVP voting while Lebron just sits there. So dumb. These voters are all idiots.
Kobe in Game 6 in the 2008 NBA Finals comes pretty close. Shot a little better- 7 for 22 from the field. But only put up one assist to 4 turnovers (Harden was 7 and 6) and finished -35 on the game, even worse than Harden's -28 last night. Much higher stakes, too; nobody involved in last night's game is winning a title this year.No. It was the worst effort I've ever seen by an MVP candidate in a must win game. Ever. In total agreement!I watch most regular season games on the local cable network, is it me or do the national channels really suck at replays? I feel like the local channel squeezes in a lot, sometimes multiple angles of out of bounds plays etc. Your lucky if the national channels give you one, I'm often waiting for a replay and it never comes. WTF![]()
Ya, and it seems most of the times they give you a replay, it is from the previous possession, not of the foul, questionable call or exciting play that just happened.I watch most regular season games on the local cable network, is it me or do the national channels really suck at replays? The big differentiator here is the competition. The Spurs didn't even have Kawhi last night. At least the Celtics had their big 3 at its apex in Game 6 in 2008. The Spurs had...Simmons? Um, the competition should include playing against one of the greatest coaches of all time. It's amazing how many people don't understand the importance of having players in optimal spots on the floor. There is no coach in this era better than Pop at doing that with any caliber of player. The big differentiator here is the competition. The Spurs didn't even have Kawhi last night. Rockets getting run out of the gym by a backup PG, "Slo-Mo", an undrafted wing, a 20-yr old rookie and a veteran big waived last year.
The public perception that the Warriors are invincible inflates the price. There are even people talking about them going 16-0 lol.Warriors are heavily favored vs Spurs, and rightfully so, but I'll be wearing the #### out of my lucky Kawhi t-shirt next week.
Wishing good health for both teams.
Thanks for not taking me up on thisTobiasFunke said:Anyone want tickets to a playoff game tonight?
I had a comp 7th row midcourt I had to turn down because of work. ####### ouch. Glad you got to be there, TF.Thanks for not taking me up on this![]()
There's always hope...Monster week for the Celts...game 7 on Monday and the ping pong balls on Tuesday...hopefully winning that #1 seed and getting home-court pays off and that is the difference in this series...

Trading for Butler or George made no sense as they still wouldn't be good enough to win a title. It would have cost one or both of the Brooklyn picks. Danny made the right call.It would have been a real monster week if they had traded for Butler or George.
They would already be in the conference finals. Yes, they would have been an underdog, but they would have pushed the series 6 games at least with a punchers chance at winning the series.
Instead they are pretty much the last car that the monster truck has to run over to get to the finals and like a lot of other teams in the league their hopes for a title rests in some ping pong balls and hoping that player hits.
Is the lottery really that big for the Cs? I haven't been tracking too closely but I was under the impression that while there's general agreement on the top pick, it's not universal and there's not considered to be much difference among the top guys.Monster week for the Celts...game 7 on Monday and the ping pong balls on Tuesday...hopefully winning that #1 seed and getting home-court pays off and that is the difference in this series...
No he didn't. You hope one of those picks become as good as George or Butler and there is a slim chance.Trading for Butler or George made no sense as they still wouldn't be good enough to win a title. It would have cost one or both of the Brooklyn picks. Danny made the right call.
wasn't going to matter this year regardless, and there is still another year to make those deals when they would presumably be cheaper, plus you learn more about where the actual picks are and whether those guys will be willing to sign long-term. Trading away a potential 10-year point guard star for one year of a good conference finals could be terrible if PG or Jimmy walks. It would have been impulsive and not made it any better of a deal to do it at the trade deadline. I also am not totally sure about re-signing PG or Jimmy if they also would have Horford and Millsap/Ibaka on the books at a max contract. No he didn't. You hope one of those picks become as good as George or Butler and there is a slim chance.
If you give the Cavs a run for their money there is a good chance the Celtics could land a Millsap or Ibaka in free agency and then they would have a real chance to beat the Cavs next year.
As it stands now the Celtics need the ping pong ball to bounce right, draft the correct player, and hope that player develops into a top 20ish player in the league before guys like Horford and Thomas start to slip. Those aren't good odds, not impossible, but your chances were better the other way.
How did Ibaka work out for Toronto? No he didn't. You hope one of those picks become as good as George or Butler and there is a slim chance.

I think the great majority of the draft community has Fultz #1 (I don't think I've read anything that has Fultz #2 since the end of the tourney) even though the idea that Fultz and Ball are neck and neck seems to be a big talking point. It seems that there is a tier below Fultz of Ball, Tatum, and Jackson, then a tier behind them of Fox, Issac, Markkanan (I think he'll fall), Monk and maybe Smith. Is the lottery really that big for the Cs? I haven't been tracking too closely but I was under the impression that while there's general agreement on the top pick, it's not universal and there's not considered to be much difference among the top guys.
Plus with a team like the Cs that's already ready to contend I'd think it was as much about fit as anything. Seems like they need rim protection and a big wing who can score more than another point guard. Would the plan be to move Thomas to an undersized shooting guard type role?
ETA: or I guess maybe the idea is the better the pick the easier to trade for George or Butler?
Don't ever do this again, GB. Unless your work involves human life, YOUR life is 100x more important.I had a comp 7th row midcourt I had to turn down because of work.
I couldn't get around it. Everything we do is time-sensitive and it does involve hospitals, so sorta. We had a skeleton staff due to people leaving town for Mother's Day and the offer came yesterday afternoon. There was no way. But I hear ya, any other job I've ever had I would have bailed in a heartbeat.Don't ever do this again, GB. Unless your work involves human life, YOUR life is 100x more important.
How did Ibaka work for Toronto? What does that have to do with anything? How did Ibaka work out for Toronto?
I don't see why George or Butler couldn't still be in play for the Celts, most likely at less the cost. I wouldn't make a trade for either but it is still an option.
Not sure who you root for but beating the Cavs isn't a goal for any Celts fan I know. Making the moves you outline still doesn't get them past the Warriors IMO. It also really shortens their window to be a contender.
