What level of basketball are we talking here?  You don't need to get that close to a 40 year old accountant for them to miss.  That was not a dirty play and I would say the exact thing if someone did that to someone on the Warriors.
Kawhi says it wasn't dirty. There's a gif. I've watched it 20 times. Not dirty. And as a disclaimer, I do think Zaza has played dirtbag a few times this year, and I hate the Warriors more than everyone else on the planet combined.

interesting article on hoop rumors, makes sense, but i didn't see the Celtics having to deal with this:

Agents Reluctant To Let Clients Work Out For Kings, Celtics

May 14th 2017 at 7:49pm CST by Austin Kent

A report from ESPN’s Chad Ford this weekend details just how far player agents will go to keep their clients from being drafted into what they perceive to be less than ideal conditions. Specifically, Ford writes, that agents have been actively avoiding the Kings and the Celtics for two very different reasons.

Ford writes that this year, just as last year, agents are keeping their players away from Sacramento’s front office, refusing workouts and, in the case of Wade Baldwin IV, even declining to share medical records. The hiring of reputable Scott Perry as the organization’s new general manager, has had little impact in that regard.

It would be malpractice to let my clients play for them,” one longtime agent told Ford. “I’ve had clients there. It’s still the most dysfunctional front office in the league, by a mile. How can you trust those guys with one of your players? It’s going to take a long time to build that trust.

A similar movement is afoot with regard to the Celtics. According to Ford, the agents of top prospects are reluctant to approve their players working out for the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed, citing concern over future playing time.

Agents fear that their clients, like Jaylen Brown in this year’s rookie class, may be faced with a loaded depth chart to navigate through before earning any consistent starter’s minutes.

I have deep respect for the Celtics,” another agent said. “They may have the best GM and head coach in the league. But I’d have to understand what the plan would be for my client before I let them come. They are loaded at every position. There’s a real danger that they take a player and either he plays a limited role off the bench, or he becomes an asset to be traded to a situation that we’re uncomfortable with. It’s tough.

I started playing basketball when I was 13 years old.  I started off playing street ball and I hooped with my high schools junior varsity and varsity team. I didnt play on the teams because I was working part time (under the table) when I was in high school and didn't have the time or the resources to commit to the team.  I continued playing as I went to the University of Califoria at Irvine--both street ball and in very competitive intramural leagues (where teams mainly consisted of ex varsity players from high schools around the US).   After graduating UCI--I have continued to play in highly competitve recreational leagues--some of which where ex college and even a few ex NBA players have played (back in the day--sean rooks and Cedric ceballos came out to some of the games).  While I'm in my late 30's now and my fitness and activity levels are not what they used to be--I assure you that I have enough experience playing basketball to have a relevant "basketball opinion" on this topic. There are unspoken rules in the game of basketball.  You don't take the legs out from a player that is airborne, if you foul--make a play on the ball..etc.  Even high school players with limited training and experience know that when you contest a jumpshot--you do not put your foot/leg in the landing zone of the shooter.   Not only is it a foul as the offensive player is allowed to "land"---but it's dangerous.   Anybody who remotely believes that an NBA player with the training that Zaza Pachula has--had zero idea that he was positioning his foot/part of his leg in the landing zone of Kawhi Leonard on that shot is probably more of a basketball viewer than they are a basketball player.  In regards to what Kawhi says about the play--of course he's going to say it's not dirty.  If he calls it dirty--it's just bulletin board material for the Warriors to play with more motivation in game two.  Essentially what I'm saying is this.  Even if you don't want to call it a "dirty play"--it was a dangerous play at best--and a play that Zaza knew was dangerous.  Make no mistake on that.

I get it re: Boston, specifically candidates for that first pick. Specifically PG's.

Zaza can't even control his body well enough to make a borderline contested layup.  He's 7 feet tall, and consistently misses put backs.  Yet you somehow think he is coordinated enough to subtly place his foot under Leonard......in a way that is deliberate in the heat of the moment?   Yeah, I just don't think he's that coordinated.  Maybe the intent was there, but IMO he's just clumsy.   Can't believe he's in the league.   He's a buffoon.

I guess you and I just see things differently--which is not impossible.  People can see the same painting or movie and have different thoughts and beliefs about them.   This is why I don't think it makes sense for me to try to convince you otherwise--or you try to convince me otherwise.   When I see that play--I clearly see a defender that runs exactly towards Kawhi's landing zone--and even takes an extra step to get there.  If it's because Zaza is a big heavy guy that can't control his body--it's a dangerous and reckless play at best. This isn't much better being that he's an NBA player with full knowledge and training of how dangerous and reckless it is.   Nobody can or convince me that an NBA player with the experience and training that Zaza Pachulia has is not aware of the dangers of not allowing a player to land cleanly.  That to me makes it dirty--but to everybody is entitled to their own opinion.  In any case--regardless of what anybody wants to call the play--let's just all hope that Kawhi comes back and makes this a good series.

I'm not defending Zaza.  Whatever his intent, Kawhi got injured, and Zaza should know better than to do what he did (whether deliberately or otherwise).

As a few others have mentioned, those of us who don't like the Spurs might call this karma.   The difference being that Bowen spent years clearly doing this on purpose, over and over.

I'd love to see players who take dangerous actions like this - consistently - receive a meaningful suspension.   And yes, I also hope Kawhi comes back.  The Spurs were the superior team with Kawhi on the floor yesterday.

As a former Kings fan, workouts helped them decide to take Tyreke Evans over Steph Curry, and an absence of workouts led them to pass on Mudiay. The latter seems preferable at least for them.

I can't believe 1 of these 2 teams is actually going to be in the conference finals. Actually the worst part is no one can argue that these 2 teams are the 2nd and 3rd best in the east.

This is pretty weird. The Celtics have enviable depth but Isiah is the only superstar. I would think a top-4 pick would have a chance to be an upgrade immediately everywhere but PG.

Odd officiating, letting them play on a lot of physical stuff that looks like a foul but calling a bunch of touch bs.

It's like watching the NC Central/UC Davis teams fight for their lives knowing Kansas is on deck.

Just curious how come traveling wasn't called on that rebound that the Boston got while half on the ground. He lands on his feet then falls to the ground with both feet in the air. Am I missing something?

How do so many teams miss on Thomas. The guy is an absolute beast out there. Maybe 10-12 people ahead of him in the league right now who I'd want if I'm starting a team.

So we are talking Wall, Beal, Crowder, Morris and Horford starting. With IT as the 6th man, Porter, Bradley and Gortat as the bench. Cavs in 6, it might go 7 of Cavs have home court.
Yeah sorry... IT is not coming off the bench as the 6th man.

So what do Celtics fans do when the team inevitably loses and doesn't win a championship? Was not getting Butler the difference between them actually having a chance and just being another team in the lead-up to Cavs-Warriors? I actually am curious how it will be looked at, happy to be close or pissed because you didn't go all in to actually win the championship. I believe there are some tough decisions with salaries coming up either this year or next for the Celtics, so i don't think their window for an opportunity is that big

Wasn't even that he couldn't hit. He looked so damn passive out there. He is a beast when he is driving to the hoop
Wall was not lights out tonight, but he was still solid. My cursing was mostly focused on Gortat, Morris, and Brooks being slow to get Gortat and Morris off Olynyk.

Only five points from the bench was pretty terrible too. (Not sure why Brooks kept Oubre on the bench.)

Oh well. Still the best Wizards season since I became a fan. Hopefully they can add some more pieces this offseason and make another run.

What is funny is that I read the same post somewhere after they beat the Bulls

how about wait til the lose a series and we'll talk. Until then, looming forward to having the best odds at the ping pong balls tomorrow

Cavs are already -550 for the series. No idea what you're talking about the Bulls for.

Cavs are a 2 seed going up against the 1 seed

so far adding Butler could not have helped the Celtics. He couldn't have helped them get a better seed in the playoffs. they have won without him and they have the most figurative ping pong balls tomorrow.

Point is Ainge has already been proven correct. Are you trading Fultz+ for Butler right now?
