I really hope Chicago trades Butler to Boston.   It makes too much sense not to.  Or a Butler/lopez for 1st and Crowder
Yeah I think Butler or George goes to Boston.  Add in the number one overall pick and clv finally has a real rival to get to the finals

Cavs went 21-24 for a stretch there. They basically couldn't miss. This included 30 foot threes, expiring shot clock forces. About the only thing not going in were grandiose windmill dunks ;)
Kinda how I was feeling at times.  The C's banked in two 3's (they might have changed Horford's to a 2 and Smart's was just awful), made some other horrible looks, got more perfect bounces on the rubber rim, and benefited from some crazy loose balls going their way.

The refs were putrid for the most part both ways.  Calls and non-calls.

Nuts game.

Props to the Celts for playing one full great game of defense between games 3 and 4.  Felt like we were going back to Boston 2-2.

As a Celtics fan, that was a tough game to watch slip away last night.  They had them.  BronBron on the bench with 4 fouls with 6+ minutes in the first half.  They were playing great defense. But then Jae Crowder who granted, played a solid first half, but then decided to shove his head so far up his butt that his dreads were not even seeing the light of day.

Stevens who is a Boy Wonder had no answers for Kyrie.  Why they didn't get physical knocking him around a little bit every time he came into the paint is beyond me.

They had this game and it would have been an absolute tremendous win,....but they let it get away.  Very sad day.
Irving's pretty much as unstoppable as he wants to be - no one clears shooting space like him (Celts usually let AB loaf on offense when Kyrie is hot, but couldnt afford to last nite). The traditional way to equalize him is to make him play defense to keep him out of his zone and the Celts didn't have anyone to do that.

The hole in Stevens's game is his taste in assistants. He's the coaching equivalent of IT - he's so good at what he does, that everyone else kinda stands around. For years i've been mystified why Olynyk hasn't been taught a Dirk-like stroke to match the rest of his game, why Maaaacus Smaaaart doesn't have a pre-foulshot ritual (he's so adrenalized he's like 50% on his 1st foul shot, near 100% on his 2nd) so many of their guards can't go to their off hands and NO one seems to know how to find a body to put a body on when a shot goes up, etc etc. The little things. All four years, Stevens has lacked a top assistant, a strong quality-control kinda guy. As with not at least trying to get LeBron an early 2nd-half foul, if Brad dont think of it, nobody do.

In the first half the C's did a really good job doubling the ball forcing passes. Why they didn't do that in the third when Irving was going off I don't know, maybe they were just getting tired. My son was all fired up, I told him no matter how good you play D sometimes good players just make shots. Transcendent performance by Kyrie

Jay Larranaga seems to be a highly regarded assistant on his staff

well, a lotta little stuff goes unattended and there's very little offseason growth individually, which is crucial since the Celts are largely made up of guys who work hard on the court and use footspeed to compensate for questionable-to-nonexistent ball skills

:lmao:   :lmao: Now reports are coming out that LeBron was "sick" during Game 3. This guy is a mental midget who deserves no mention in the same sentence as Jordan.

In game 3 of the '97 finals, Jordan went 9-22 for 26 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 to, 1 steal, 2 blocks.  The Jazz won the game toe make the series 2-1.

In game 4 of the '97 finals, Jordan went 11-27 for 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 to, 0 steals, 0 blocks.  The Jazz won the game to tie the series 2-2.

It's as if people have completely forgotten that Jordan wasn't perfect.

Inconceivable!

So how is he a mental midget because his teammate said he THOUGHT LeBron was sick lol?
If we really need to get into specifics and read his whole quote, Jefferson said that Bron said to him, that he started piecing similar symptoms together with what he had when Deron Williams missed a practice with the same stuff going on. So Bron indirectly pieced stuff together and came up with a self diagnosis. Which he then told to RJ. Which RJ then told to the media.

So it was professor James, in the locker room, with nightquil.

Wow dude. You are pathetic lol.

I'll be pulling for the Warriors to finish off Pop and then beat the Cavs, but at this point not only do I believe LeBron is the G.O.A.T., I also think he's perhaps the best NBA superstar athlete of my generation on the personal level.  I'm sure he's not perfect, but from a role model standpoint, he's better than Jordan, Kobe, Magic, Bird, Shaq, etc.

The way he's avoided scandal and consistently made the right decisions in this age is phenomenal.
Well said.  I'll probably lean towards the Cavs in the final, but really don't dislike either team.

That's probably why Jordan shied away from hitting the boards. Not sure how we can explain his inability to create scoring opportunities for others, though.
Jordan averaged 5.3 apg for his career, compared to Lebron's 7.0. Not that much of a gap, and the game was different... greater emphasis on spacing and long range shooting today, which has likely skewed the comparison. There is no question that Lebron has played with teammates more capable of shooting and scoring effectively/efficiently than Jordan's teammates.

LeBron:17 triple doubles in the playoffs and counting.

Jordan: 2 triple doubles in the playoffs.

Checkmate.
At the risk of you decimating my post, I'd argue that LeBron is more like Magic Johnson than Jordan.

Also, I'm not sure what triple doubles have to do with it. Russel Westbrook probably had more triple doubles this year than Jordan and nobody is going to say Westbrook.

dial me up when we judge players play by play and not game by game

made a basket: potentially the greatest athlete of all time

threw a ball out of bounds: would get cut from my men's Y league team

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw LeBron pass-out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

What's all the debate on the last goaltending?  That Kyrie had no intention of making the shot....just put the ball off the glass hoping the defender touches it right afterwards?  Or did they really think it was a "clean" block?

Westbrook isn't in the conversation for GOAT.  Heck, he isn't even in the conversation for best player in the league right now.
