A legit shot? 2015 Spurs.
That's 1 team in how many yrs? Plus the NBA has been all messed up with seeding for playoffs for yrs. Wasn't it the Clippers who lost to the rockets or something one year in the 1st round and people complained because LAC had a better record but the other team was seeded higher because they won their Div or something like that? Usually when one of those teams win it's because of the unfair seeding the NBA has.

That isn't what you asked. You said when was the last time. That year had nothing to do with seeding, if I recall correctly they fixed the seeding so the division winners weren't automatically the higher seeded team.

The Dubs are not interesting from a competitive perspective. We all knew they would win. But if you're a fan of quality basketball (or even a casual digging the long ball) this team is entertaining as hell to watch. It's incredible to watch KD and Curry consistently drop these 26 foot 3's. Not a spot on the floor a defense is safe guarding them. Or even watch Curry punk LeBron out on the dribble tonight. That was amazing. I can get why people get annoyed by some guys like Curry or Green.

I don't get the hate on KD. Dude wanted and deserves a ring. He did what he felt was best. I'd get the hate if he came in and took a back seat to Steph. But he joined a team with an MVP, and immediately took over that top role from Curry. He led these guys to this Finals. And is carrying them so far. That deserves nothing but respect IMO.
Right here says it all. Kids today Are entertained by that AND1 type stuff and long balls. Chicks dig the 3 as they use to say when I was younger. KD gets the hate because from at least people I've talked to who hate him it's because he couldn't beat GS so he decided to join them instead. Some feel Durant was too soft and didn't show up in big games with OKC. I think its a combination of people are fed up with great teams getting richer in terms of talent and the fact there's a lot of Russel Westbrook Supporters. RW is a great player but he's way too ball dominate and I think cares more about himself then winning as a team. Him a durant seemed like they couldn't exist together. It was either Durant resigns and Russ goes or Durant did what he did. I don't blame him for it but I do blame him for basically going to GS. I said before FA Anywhere if he leaves is fine as long as it wasn't NYK/Cle/GS. I'm not gonna vilify the guy for it but I am frustrated with the growing now continuing problem league wide.

I'm sorry yeah I said that but I meant to say and worded this incorrectly how many times has it really been where those seeds had a fair chance. Yes I realize they fixed the Seeding but SA was a much better team then their record. I'd have put them against any other team ranked in their spot or a little higher and bet on them winning.

TV ratings are in pretty good shape.

TV ratings are in pretty good shape.
That's because a lot of people I think are filled with empty threats. Myself Unless the Bulls were playing TV game I got in Philly I hardly watched a minute of basketball this year. Bits and pieces flipping through channels sure or if I was waiting for something else to come on looked at it till whatever i wanted was on mostly used it as background noise while doing other things. Really I've only seen bits and pieces of the finals. Why because i knew both these teams would be in the finals and two I know Cle lacks depth on the bench and unless they are hitting 3s this series won't be close. That isn't entertaining for me unless i was a GS fan. I'll be happy if Durant wins a title just not how he accomplished it. Plus many people have false hope of their teams doing well. For example people here in Philly IMHO are completely overrating the Sixers talent. I see a ton of question marks and holes as well as just hope. The Sixers aren't a very well run team. They have a poor scouting department and lucked on Embiid but can he stay healthy? Simmons IMHO nothing more then an overhyped prospect to keep fans of teams not involve in playoffs to get ratings for the draft. Saric? I've seen Europeans start off on fire but then aren't consistent. Saric has had consistency problems whole career. Brett Brown is a great coach but all I see is maybe potential and a lot of people throwing out prayers and hoping to get lucky. IMHO Sixers should've been a playoff team already with the amount of good draft spots they had but Hinkie screwed the poach on several draftees MCW, and overloading on Cs.

Look into Imodium. It should help with that keyboard diarrhea.

I will admit if Golden State had closed it out when they were up 3-1 last year, I would probably be annoyed by the 3-match.  But they didn't.  Game 3 should be a hoot.
Curious to see if Kerr tries to win Game 3 this time around; losing Game 3 on purpose last season is a decision he probably regrets.

Tired of all these Johnny-come-lately types suddenly acting like the NBA Finals/playoffs/season has been determined since last July. I've been telling y'all the whole time.  At least Kevin Durant asked Steph Curry if he could ride his coattails after all the hard work had already been done.

Pretty sure the whole world knew this by end of business 7/7/16.

Which is what makes it so weird that I've been pretty much the only one in here saying it.

What are you all gonna do with all the money we all won betting on this back when the odds were much better?  I'm gonna use mine on some great Wiz tickets to next season because there's way more to the NBA than who wins the title.

I am a fan of the schtick of claiming the obvious as your own personal insight.

So you are saying when the Warriors signed Durant you predicted they would be a dominant team? Wow thanks Captain Obvious.

I know right we're seeing the last of it iN SA right now as well as Dirk in Dal. Not much player loyalty to teams in any sport. It's show me the money or titles or I'm gone. I miss the days when players showed some sense of loyalty and commitment to the team and not just themselves. Too much showboating and me me me how do I get on the top 10 of SC?
I love to see you complaining about "too much showboating and me me how do I get on the top 10 of SC" with your name being DJackson10.

If you're talking about me you can look back at my post history.  I have been 100% consistent since Durant went to GS.  I'm not as prolific of a poster as you so I might have only said it 15-20 times this year.  But I'm certainly not just coming to that opinion.

Good call. I remember all your posts earlier this season agreeing with me that people were still undervaluing the Warriors and that they were vastly better than even the Cavs.

Perhaps the greatest call on this board since Finless called Tiger's demise

Umm I am a casual NBA fan who barely posted in this thread all year. I didnt realize I had to post in here just to confirm my OBVIOUS suspicions that the Warriors would be a dominant team this season. I'll keep it in mind next season if they resign Durant.

Whatcha gonna do with all that money we're gonna win?

I say we buy World Series tickets.  I'll bring you for the games at Nats Park, you bring me for the games at Yankee Stadium  :excited:

:kicksrock:

Was hoping for a good finals, but man is GS overwhelming.  The only way the Cavs can win is to play perfect basketball for 4 out of the 5 next games.  I just don't see that happening.  GS just has way more forgiveness in their team when they make a mistake.  That is a hell of a basketball team hitting on all cylinders right now...

You forgot to add "take that to the bank brohans" at the end.

No offense SWC. :P

Well unless you get shoddy officiating. No way NBA allows this series to be a sweep. They'd be embarrassed by the lack of competition these playoffs plus with the way they'd had the media including their people at ESPN hype this up imagine egg on their face if Cleland and LeBron their poster boy get swept?
The NBA has tried that in games 1&2.  It looked like Wrestlemania out there.  Still didn't matter.  You're right though, the NBA will gift at least one game to Cleveland.  With KD, they won't be able to hand the whole series to Cleveland like they did last year.

What were their odds at the beginning of the season? I havent gambled on sports in my life (unless you count fantasy football).

The Dubs put it on the Cavs in games 1 & 2 last year, so I think it is preemptive to crown them as of yet.

With that being said, I don't know how you can defend a team this good. They're almost unstoppable when they're playing decent and absolutely unstoppable when on their game.

Cavs came out for a high scoring shootout yesterday and sorta hung around for a little, but I don't think that is how you beat this team. Dubs will win the high scoring shootouts most of the time. I think the Cavs formula has to be defense and a slower pace.

I was listening to local sports talk in DC this morning and one of the guys made a good point: it feels like the Cavs have to score on every possession to win. I mean the Warriors had 20 TOs last night and still won by 19. I don't know what more Cleveland can do at this point.

I was going to comment on the number of nut jobs posting in here but then I remembered that it's the same as day 1...

Cleveland's bench doesn't have a prayer of guarding anyone on golden state. So unless Cleveland's starters can play 45 minutes at peak efficiency, they have no chance.

Warriors are just too good. Cleveland only won last year because Draymond got suspended and Barnes went 1 for the series. Now it's Durant instead of Barnes taking those shots. Game over

Let's get this straight. You want to be done with the NBA (which we know you aren't) because the Warriors are dominating right now? BUT you are okay with LeBron  dominating the East and going to 7 straight finals and winning 3 championships because you like him?
Might want to just put Weebs on ignore.  We get it, you don't like him or his hot takes.

This sounds about right.

Man just wanted a good series.  Not going to get it.

Clv was playing fairly well last night until they collapsed in the third.  It's hard to see them playing much better and they were still down most of the game and got blown out.  Hope I'm wrong but this is smelling like an easy sweep.

I'm not a huge NBA fan, but I tend to watch playoffs/finals.

This is entertaining, no doubt.   But more along the lines of Globetrotters/Generals....

And I'll keep watching.

What were their odds at the beginning of the season? I havent gambled on sports in my life (unless you count fantasy football).
Warriors were roughly -120 to win the title after Durant signed. That is unprecedented for any of the major 4 sports.

Celtics were completely overmatched and managed to win a game.  While CLE is overmatched as well, I am hoping they can at least win 1 game, put a sniff of fear into GS's hearts

Unfortunately I think they get swept

NBA was already ruined. LeBron just opened the NBA's big wound and made it larger. The last CBA could've solved plenty of issues but the CBA currently only put a band aid on many issues that need to be taken by the horns and solved immediately like One and done, protecting teams from losing stars especially smaller market teams (Did that in a way but still not enough). I hate the dude but LeBron became the punching bag because he's the most popular figure plus there's still old school sports fans who believe in team loyalty by athletes which is very rare anymore. No sure how much soccer people here watch but one of Soccers legends Francesco Totti of Italy played in Rome his whole career. Had huge offers to go else where make more money and win more titles but chose to stay at his hometown club. Said one league title in Roma means more to me then 10 at Milan, Manchester Untied or Barcelona. Instead of sucking it up lebron took advantage of the system in all fairness with the way the league is put in place. Also LeBron didn't endear himself having a 1 hour special acting like he was picking which college he was going to with THE DECISION.
That is why I don`t get people complaining about Durant.

KD paid his dues and earned the right to chose where he wants to play.  One thing about this series that I did not realize is that KD might be the best player in the NBA. The guy is awesome.

Weren't the Warriors even more dominant last year in Games 1 and 2 with everyone thinking sweep?
People weren't wrong over who would win the series, they just didn't anticipate the events that occurred (ie losing Green).

Similarly, if KD goes down with an ankle injury it will change the series.  It's just not a likely event
