***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

You pay a billion dollars for David Price, and you go with a guy with a career 1.3 WHIP in game 1.

Well I'm shocked by that turn of events.

So glad the tbs  microphone is close to a person where every Indians positive pitch/out/hit gets a

"Clap,clap,clap,clap,clap,clap... clap, clap" in same spot on said persons palm.  :toilet:

About the only thing positive I can say about these two franchises right now is, if either was playing the White Sux right now, I'd buy the jersey.

Clayton Kershaw has a 4.59 postseason ERA, I'd run him out there against anyone, every time.  Small sample sizes are a dickie, Dunn.
Interesting comparison. Kershaw certainly has had some hot-and-cold to him when it comes to pitching in October, but I agree with you.

You got an extra ticket for tomorrow?

If I did I can't think of anyone I'd rather drink a :banned: with more than you gb.

Go Nats?

The irony here is that the Red Sox made Miller a reliever, before that, he was complete ####.  Now he's a serious difference maker and probably the key to the Tribe's postseason hopes.

I mean I'm not John Farrell, guy has a World Series and stuff, but the difference between Price  and Porcello is significant IMO.  I like Porcello too, I think he's a really good middle of the rotation innings eater who induces ground balls.  Guy had a phenomenal season, but Price is an elite arm capable of things Porcello isn't.  Group think throws Porcello out there tonight, John McGraw and Doctor Detroit throw Price.

they still would have lost.

This is a very good point that most will say Porcello won 22 this year while Price was inconsistent and has a crappy postseason era. I agree, DD, you go with the more talented guy and hope he's on.   Cleveland bullpen is much better and Francona is a better manager, and I like him in the postseason much better.   Papi's last game could be Sunday.

Big Papi provided me the worst moment in my baseball fandom, and I still can't hate him.  Dude is balls deep, not sure what else to say.

He's 1-7 in his 8 postseason starts with a 5.33 era in those starts. Small sample size sure but Sox are looking at being down 0-1 and need a big start from Price.
That doesn't count the 2013 wild-card tiebreaker game where Price was pretty dominant.

No it doesn't as he was lights out but he pitched out of the pen.  For games that Price has started in the postseason he's been pedestrian at best.

No he started that game and pitched a complete game. You are thinking of the 2008 Alcs

There were always rumors Kershaw was tipping his pitches to the Cardinals but his regular season stats against them really didn't seem to support such a claim.  His ERA in the postseason against STL was 6.13 and his ERA against all other teams was 3.24 so who knows.  Dodgers pen has always been crap too.  When he gave up that bomb to Adams in 2014, it looked like he was starting to lose command, but Mattingly left him in there too long because he was afraid of turning to the pen.  That type of situation shouldn't happen often on playoff teams as you expect their pen to be better equipped.

Good game here, beats the poop show we saw in game one.

I'm going to Kershaw-Scherzer tomorrow, then to the GREAT WHITE NORTH for ten days.  You honkies take care of this thread, you hear?

"You hate to see a game like this end like that"

so it's better to give a guy who went around first base? Who are these ####heads?

My head nearly exploded at that. I'm pretty sure it was Darling, who is great on Mets broadcasts but seems to go ####### nuts on the national stage.
