This is another pretty good reminder that, generally speaking, Laker fans are dumb.  And apparently some are willing to put their money where they're brains were.

wonder how Celtics fans will feel if Ainge and company can't add anybody this off-season. From the reports it seemed most assumed Heyward was going to Boston, so this surprised me a little (from rotoworld):

Gordon Hayward - G/F - Jazz

Jody Genessy of the Deseret News is reporting that Gordon Hayward wants Utah to re-sign George Hill and that Hayward's "decision could hinge on that."

The issue for Utah is that they would purportedly prefer to find a cheaper option at point guard, which would ideally give them the financial flexibility to bring back both Hayward and free agent swingman Joe Ingles. With just 12 hours until the start of free agency, we'll surely see plenty of additional rumors attached to Hayward's name, as he is one of the most attractive free agents on the market.

Why would anyone want to put money in their head, when they could take it to the bank, bromingo?

Jesum Crow - as we say in the NE Kingdom - i'm getting the dread again. The Trader Danny Mad Launch Into Nothingness™ dread. The same dread i felt 48 hrs before the first trade deadline where a Jerseypick© went unswapped, the same dread as before the "anyonebutMaaacusSmaaaat" draft (i was kinda wrong about him, tho), the same dread of Jaylen "Trumphands" Brown (who i will be RIGHT about ending up a bum, the 3rd best '16 Celtpick, behind Dancing Bear & Itchy Icicic) being picked instead of Kris Dunn (or, better, the clearly higher trade value of Dunn), the same dread as 2 wks ago not making the trade of 1.01 sting for any rival who wanted it and then of taking hi-floor Tatum over hi-ceiling Jackson.

I got, and the whole town is starting to get, the dread that absonuttin' is happening this weekend as projected - no Hayward, no George, just GaGa (Gallinari or Gay) for toomuch, toolong after the smoke of the better efforts of others clear a week or more from now. Oh, the dread is strong in this one.....

Seriously.  Any Laker fan reading this who is tempted by the 66-1 odds, I'll offer double that (122-1) odds for as much action as you want.

If all the Celtics have to show for all this cap room and all these assets next year is Tatum and Rudy Gay it will be deemed the greatest failure of an off season ever.

Sup Gunz.  I'm off my game admittedly, but the one thing I know is that when you're fishing for Laker fans, just about any bait will work.
Hope all is well Max. Can you stop doing less important stuff like being a productive worker, an interested family member, etc. and get back to posting more in this thread?

TIA.

Calculator, brah..  With that being said--I agree with your general sentiment that even at 132-1--that shouldn't be enough to place a bet.

Free agency is still eight hours from starting

Also your city has won ten championships in the four major American pro sports since 2000.

Dont know what it is, cuz i only sweated the Sox & Bird-era Celts for the 40yrs i lived in the desert, dont like hockey and earned my PatsyNation (JawwnyCumLatelyBandwagonJumpahs all of em) hate by going to Boston Patriot games in all of their first 5 venues when no one wanted em, but i have gotten my hopes up to no result more about the Ainge/Stevens Celts since i moved back to NE a few yrs ago than in my 50 years as a Sox fan before they broke Da Curse.

For those following the Bulls' march to the most ping pong balls:

Rondo cut
Very surprised they couldn't trade him to a team that needs cap relief and then they could have cut him. I would have thought the Cavs would be interested in this, or would that not work?

Predictions?

Hayward- Miami

Blake - Miami

Iggy - spurs

Reddick- Houston

Lowry - clippers

Ibaka- raptor

Holiday- 'cans

Noel - mavs

Teague- pacers

Hill - spurs.

Millsap - Nets

Apparently they had been shopping the contract.  Regarding the Cavs, I don't really see a contract the Bulls would want in return and the Cavs don't have much as far as sweeteners.

I would be extremely disappointed if Hayward does not become a Celt...that is the piece they need to secure and I have felt that way for over a year...he is the perfect fit for this team...add him as a FA and it will be a lot easier to figure out the rest...don't do it and what they do next is anyone's guess and there will be far more heat on Ainge from the talking heads...that being said I would rather they be patient then force something they will regret...making a move just to make a move Is far worse then doing nothing...that is the type of stuff that has got the B's and Red Sox in trouble over the years...

He's going to regret not signing that extension earlier this year for 3/$75. Unless he just really hates Utah.
That's what I thought as well, but Tim Bontemps had a Jazz reporter on his podcast a couple days ago and the reporter said the Jazz's extension offer was much lower than that. So who knows.

Sacbee article today suggested that Sacramento could go after Otto Porter, being a restricted free agent that Washington couldn't afford to match.  I don't know if that will happen, but I wouldn't be upset to get him.  Of course they'll overpay, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Hard to know what might have been spin by the jazz (though they don't really strike me that way?) but at the time the reporting was much different, though it did say that he wanted to stay there.

Simmons article is slightly interesting.  TlDr let Blake go, fire doc, move to Seattle.
Good article. The paragraph pimping Seat Geek, and how it's literally a reason for the Clips to leave LA was also top notch.

Yup, but note how all those reports say Utah was "able" to offer $88m, not "did offer" $88m. If that was in fact the offer, I agree with b-fish that his agent likely screwed up by not pushing him to take it.

Yeah, I definitely was looking for that kind of thing in re-reading it, but definitely the points about what his representation was advising seemed more or less legit.

Synergy, baby!

Hasn't Simmons #### on the league for ripping the Sonics out of Seattle? I don't see how that's any different than ripping the Clippers out of LA.

Also I'll bet that Iggy stays.
