2017-18 NBA (Playoffs): A gasping, wheezing thread begs message board poster arguing how Jordan never lost a Finals to just let it die in peace (1 Viewer)

Meanwhile, a source told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that the Celtics offered three first-round picks -- they did not include the Brooklyn Nets' pick in 2018 or the Los Angeles Lakers/Sacramento Kings pick -- and two starters (Jae Crowderbeing one) for George on draft night but were rejected.
Sounds like a pretty terrible offer.

Danny Ainge is that commish in your fantasy league who makes you a bunch of crap offers and then gets upset when you select a different crap offer.

Then tells everyone he would've offered all this gold but was turned away or never given the chance.

Stephen Curry has agreed to a 5-year, $201M deal with Golden State, agent Jeff Austin of Octagon tells ESPN. No player option.

Who the #### is this babbling redhead on ESPN2's Free Agent Show? I realize ESPN made cuts and it's midnight EST but this is cringe. Really the best they've got left?

What in the hell would they want with Rudy Gay? And couldn't he get a lot more money from someone else?

Woj never said that. Dunno what account this is.
Okay, that makes sense.

Kawakami is talking about Gay on twitter now though. He just opted out of what, 15 mil? He's not gonna take 5 or whatever from GS, unless he just wants a ring I guess. Doesn't seem like the type to do that to me

Why do so many respectable NBA reporters spend time conversing with obvious morons/trolls on twitter?

I don't know that he's necessarily an upgrade over Rubio. But I'm a Rubio fan.
I don't think he's a talent upgrade, but he is definitely a fit upgrade. They're a better team on 2017 with this trade but I think they'll regret the signing at some point.

It makes no sense. Iguodala's coming back, he's just shopping around to get an offer in hand for the Warriors to beat.

Rudy Gay is the antithesis of Iguodala. And I mean that in the meanest, most negative way possible.

Agreed, I was saying it makes sense that the info didn't come from Woj

Per Royce Young - Expect the Thunder to be in contact with unrestricted free agent Michael Carter-Williams this weekend as free agency opens.

Ugh

glllll

He's ..... frustrating.  Could be good, maybe, in the right circumstance.  I'm not sorry to see him go.
I wouldn't either in your shoes. Not the same type of player but I could see a Danny Green type of situation happen with him

Comparing Belichick to Ainge is insulting to anyone in Bill's family. Bill does incredible things, Ainge has done some good things, but really most of what he did what rip off an idiot of an owner and GM a few years ago. Ainge hasn't won anything as a GM.

Forgot about 09 :wall:
Did the hot take thread not make it thru the upgrade?

Gets them off Olidipo though if they weren't hot on him.  Low risk, high reward.

Celtics playing for 2022
Shouldn't everybody be? I like what the Celtics are doing here. They were just the "#1" Seed in the East, and the East keeps getting worse, probably including the Cavs. But none of it matters. George or Butler weren't putting them past the Warriors. George, particularly, as a one year rental for an outside shot to get swept by the Warriors made absolutely no sense.

Brilliant for OKC. This puts them one year closer to spending very little money for a few decades, which has always been their goal.

Hang on a second, I'm confused. Granted I had a few drinks last night and my kid has been awake on and off since 4:30am...

How did OKC trade for Paul George after he already agreed to a three year extension with Boston????

I'm kind of disappointed in a handful of the teams with cap space. I was kind of looking forward to Sacramento or BK or somebody throwing a giant contract at somebody like the Blazers and Lakers last year. I think the FA PGs are being overpaid, but not terribly so. And a few of the reported deals so far (Livingston, Nene) are a little less than I anticipated. Bummer.

I for one am glad the Mozgov and Deng deals continue to hold their spot in history.

Don't worry, the Denver max offer for Milsap is coming.

The way it worked out on the duncd on mock offseason, there were definitely a lot of lower deals.  That pod was less entertaining than last year when anyone could do anything, but I don't think the depressed market is that surprising with the cap situations of a lot of these teams at this point.  Which I think is what is helpful about those mock offseasons, not to try to get everything right (as someone suggested a few pages back), but to work through the process and understand more about the conditions and climate.

but yes, not nearly as fun so far.  It seems like Sacramento and Brooklyn are pretty much hunkered down to ride out the pain.  I think Indiana might be the best bet to do something stupid now.  Maybe the sixers will throw out a 1/30.

I would be totally down with a 3 year max for Millsap but that 4th year would be sooooo bad. The third year would be an overpay too, but I don't think it would affect any plans. I'm more worried about their conversations with Hill than Millsap.

I love the narrative around here that the Warriors are going to own the NBA for the next 3 - 5 years. So all the other teams should start scouting high school and even middle school teams since they have no chance.

The biggest difference between the Dunc'd On offseason and the real NBA are the length of deals handed out. Pretty much everybody used all their cap space in their mock off-season and there was enough mediocre talent when they finished up that most of the exceptions would have been sucked up. They just didn't hand out many 3 or 4 year deals.

Liar Danny......................no more Trader Danny. Liar Danny, Fool me once, shame on whatever.......................Liar Danny.

The Celtics could not possibly have offered what they implied to Chicago for Butler, to Indiana for George and those teams settled for what they did. No way. Same thing last year - a lot of locals wanted the 1.03 traded for NNoel. I can see not doing that, but the Philly folk swore up & down they offered us NN for the Dancing Bear & Itchy Icicic pix (1.16 & 1.23) and Ainge turned em down. Liar Danny

Capella's right - Liar Danny is the Secret Squirrel in your fantasy league would rather win trades than titles.
