1) He has to do more that work on his jumper. Working on it necessitates that there is an actual jumper already.
2) Garnett and Pierce used to walk off the court without shaking hands. Celtic fans didn't give a #### about it then. Its' not immature so much as just how some dudes are.

It’s probably been brought up, but what a bad move by Brown announcing his team needs t add a significant piece to compete for a championship.
Sends a clear message to the current team - you’re not good enough. And if they aren’t able to add a significant piece? Quite the vote of confidence.

I wholeheartedly disagree with him. Wtf more could he want? Besides Joel and Ben (hint: you don't need a big 3 to win a title), Saric looks like he can be one hell of a sidekick to those 2. It's like a big 2 1/2. Just let them develop. If he's already giving up on them having the potential to be good enough as is after they develop, I'm not sure I want him coaching my team.

He knows his team better than any of us. Some teams need a kick in the ###, some teams need a players coach.

To be fair the Celtics are deep, and have a lot more playoff experience between Horford, Brown, Smart etc. Plus that was one of the more competitive 5 game series you will see.

Even optimistic Sixers fans thought they could make the finals but not beat Golden State or Houston. They need all of those things to happen plus add another player to get past a full strength Boston and compete with the West.

put it another way, I manage a team at work. People’s first instinct when faced with a challenging project is to tell me they need more people / hire contractors. Sometimes they do, but often you can get it done with what you have if you focus on strategy and efficiency. This is what I like about Brad Stevens. You take away two of his best players and he doesn’t tell the media why he can’t win with what he has. Instead he just goes and wins anyway in spite of that

The brown thing was a little bit of a weird sequence. He was asked by a reporter about the perceived schism among fans about “growing organically” vs bringing in free agents. Brown said that from his perspective that bringing in a free agent was required and then said a bunch of things about how nice the city and organization are and why any free agent should want to come here. Then he said that they needed help to add to the core of Simmons, embiid, saric, tj and fultz (I think that’s who he named, tj was definitely in there).
I agree that it was odd the way that he phrased it, but I think that he more was saying that it was all part of the process of building the team and that they want to grow their talent pool and that bringing in a free agent would make sense.

Jaylen Brown had 215 minutes of playoff experience. The etc. is who exactly? Rozier had 376 minutes. Morris 144. Baynes 208.
Horford is really the only one who can be considered a playoff veteran.
JJ Redick has more playoiff minutes than the entire Celtic team minus Horford.

It is pretty easy, 0 between Covington, Embiid, Simmons, Saric, and McConnell.
You are confusing me saying the Celtics had more experience vs. them being an experienced playoff team.

wait, Sixers sink 2 open shots (JJ's 3 last game and i forget the other) and the series is 3-2 Sixers. Adding something will certainly help, but let's not pretend there is this gap between the Cus Crise and the 6'ers

funny how things are omitted to fit arguments. How about one of the main cogs in the series, the head coaches? Wasn't Stevens swept in his first 2 playoff runs? this is Brett's first playoff run, i would think playoff experience may play a part here as well

look, my Celtics' piss and hate is toned down for now. Celtics won the series, it is what it is. but to say the 4-1 series means the Celtics are head and shoulders above the Sixers would be naive

Pretty sure the Celtics plan is to rotate 3-4 guys on Lebron and try to wear him down over time. I suspect Morris, Brown, Horford, Smart and Ojelele will on be on him. Regardless, bottom line Lebron is going off this series. I still give Boston a punchers chance though.

I'm going to take the bait and dissect the Sixers/Celtics discussion that is going on in here. I do want to make clear that I'm a Pacers fan--so I'm not taking sides here. If you are a die hard celts/sixers fan and you want to debate me on my opinion--don't waste your time. It's an opinion and not a hot take. Also--if you are not a fan of medium/long posts--I apologize. Feel free to ignore me or scroll past.
As a person that has played basketball for 25+ years--I can tell you that there are many things that factor into who is victorious in a basketball game. However--there is no reason to over analyze each and every one of those factors because it all boils down to one thing. In basketball--the team that is more successful in imposing their will and their style on the game is the team that is more likely to win that game. This imposing of style and will can transcend talent deficits. There is a belief that the primary role of a head coach is to teach his players how to play basketball. At the NBA level--this is not the case--the main role of a coach is to teach his players how to impact the game in a syle/manner that the coach feels gives his/her team the best chance to win.
Brad Stevens is a great coach because regardless of roster--his team believes and plays in the style of his liking. While the individual players might change on his lineups(maybe due to injuries)--his players still play with the same philosophy and they all impact each game in a manner that is beneficial to their team concept/style. If you watched the Celtics/Sixers series--you will find that the Celtics were themselves---but the Sixers were not the same team that they normally are. The Sixers were lacking a concrete identity to rely on. Simmons did not play with the same aggressiveness or swag. They also failed to establish that they were going to pound the ball to Embiid inside at every given opportunity and force the Celts def to collapse on him. If you watched that series on mute and just focused on the style of the games--the Celtics were more successful in imposing their style onto the games. This is exactly why Stevens is so great. Regardless of matchup-and regardless of the active players that he is working with---he's really good at doing what he can to make the style of any given game favorable to his team. The sixers will learn to be better at this with time and experience. They have a very nice core, and I think Brown is a very good coach. They took a big step forward this season and they will learn from this loss. Both fan bases should feel very good about their futures.

I think Boston will be more reactive as the series goes on. If they leave Boston without 2 wins then I think Cleveland rolls.
RE: Missing Celtics two best players.
I'm not so sure that Heyward is one of their two best now (assuming he heals fine). Horford and Tatum, as well as Brown may have already eclipsed his talent. Admittedly I didn't see him play much but I don't think its a foregone conclusion that he is one of the two best players and he might even be fifth best right now (or sixth Rozier).
