1) He has to do more that work on his jumper. Working on it necessitates that there is an actual jumper already.1) Sixers' fans are just as aware as NBA fans that Simmons needs to work on his jumper, and Sixers' fans are probably little more frustrated then the NBA fans. But Sixers' fans also understand the value of the "long view" and are willing to give the kid a chance
2) Embiid didn't shake Celtics' players hands after the game. Celtics' players are salty about it (calling him out for not being "a man" with anonymous quotes). SIxers' fans understand it is immature, and as a fan it is ok to give Embiid a pass for this, and still mock Brady for walking off the field after the SB and not shaking Foles' hand. Honestly i don't blame Brady either, Foles and the Eagles did embarass him. but that is kind of the definition of what a "fan" is. And i think that is ok, as long as it isn't a permanent, unbending stance.
Would teams routinely play 10 feet off of Simmons if he shot 30% on an ok volume?30% from three is not a credible threat though. Marcus Smart is a 30% three point shooter.
Was this a revelation to anyone? It’s probably been brought up, but what a bad move by Brown announcing his team needs t add a significant piece to compete for a championship.
Sends a clear message to the current team - you’re not good enough. And if they aren’t able to add a significant piece? Quite the vote of confidence.
Couldnt imagine Stevens doing that in a million years
I wholeheartedly disagree with him. Wtf more could he want? Besides Joel and Ben (hint: you don't need a big 3 to win a title), Saric looks like he can be one hell of a sidekick to those 2. It's like a big 2 1/2. Just let them develop. If he's already giving up on them having the potential to be good enough as is after they develop, I'm not sure I want him coaching my team. It’s probably been brought up, but what a bad move by Brown announcing his team needs t add a significant piece to compete for a championship.

He knows his team better than any of us. Some teams need a kick in the ###, some teams need a players coach. It’s probably been brought up, but what a bad move by Brown announcing his team needs t add a significant piece to compete for a championship.

Now when he gets taken to the coaching woodshed again next year he can say "I said we needed to add a significant piece".It’s probably been brought up, but what a bad move by Brown announcing his team needs t add a significant piece to compete for a championship.

Right.... but you have to price in some Simmons development / Embiid conditioning / maturity / and maybe Brown learning himself and coaching betterBut they aren’t good enough.
I am way too drunk to read that ####.
Too sober here.
That's funny, I was just thinking that I'm way too sober to.
lol sentences
Stevens doesn't have to say anything. They just went out and signed the #1 free agent last year. It’s probably been brought up, but what a bad move by Brown announcing his team needs t add a significant piece to compete for a championship.

That’s not selling out your team.Right.... but you have to price in some Simmons development / Embiid conditioning / maturity / and maybe Brown learning himself and coaching better
just surprised me he would sell his team out like that
They just got beat by the Celtics reserves in 5 games, of course they need to add to their team if they want to win a championship.Right.... but you have to price in some Simmons development / Embiid conditioning / maturity / and maybe Brown learning himself and coaching better

To be fair the Celtics are deep, and have a lot more playoff experience between Horford, Brown, Smart etc. Plus that was one of the more competitive 5 game series you will see. They just got beat by the Celtics reserves in 5 games, of course they need to add to their team if they want to win a championship.
Been wondering how us locals should be pronouncing Horford?Yeah the grab ### can be unbearable at times. I do like when they talk hoops though. I flip over to local channel for Scal and Draper for halftime anyway.
Hawfud.Been wondering how us locals should be pronouncing Horford?
Hwafid?
Even optimistic Sixers fans thought they could make the finals but not beat Golden State or Houston. They need all of those things to happen plus add another player to get past a full strength Boston and compete with the West.Right.... but you have to price in some Simmons development / Embiid conditioning / maturity / and maybe Brown learning himself and coaching better

They needed that this year, but Simmons and Embiid should improve quite a bit next yearEven optimistic Sixers fans thought they could make the finals but not beat Golden State or Houston. That isn't a very good analogy. They needed that this year, but Simmons and Embiid should improve quite a bit next year
put it another way, I manage a team at work. People’s first instinct when faced with a challenging project is to tell me they need more people / hire contractors. Sometimes they do, but often you can get it done with what you have if you focus on strategy and efficiency. This is what I like about Brad Stevens. You take away two of his best players and he doesn’t tell the media why he can’t win with what he has. Instead he just goes and wins anyway in spite of that
What are you talking about. Wilked = Brad Stevens of the corporate world. That isn't a very good analogy.
In Brad Stevens' dreams. What are you talking about. Wilked = Brad Stevens of the corporate world.
No reason to think that because the best basketball player ever did it, everyone can.Teams were still backing off of LeBron's jump shot as recent as his Miami days. Now he almost seems to prefer the 3 point shot. It's crazy how much that part of his game has improved. Can't see why Simmons wouldn't mirror that development.
Lomachenko fight in about 30So dumb there's no game on right now.
He's a monster. The brown thing was a little bit of a weird sequence. He was asked by a reporter about the perceived schism among fans about “growing organically” vs bringing in free agents. Brown said that from his perspective that bringing in a free agent was required and then said a bunch of things about how nice the city and organization are and why any free agent should want to come here. Then he said that they needed help to add to the core of Simmons, embiid, saric, tj and fultz (I think that’s who he named, tj was definitely in there).
I agree that it was odd the way that he phrased it, but I think that he more was saying that it was all part of the process of building the team and that they want to grow their talent pool and that bringing in a free agent would make sense.
Jaylen Brown had 215 minutes of playoff experience. The etc. is who exactly? Rozier had 376 minutes. Morris 144. Baynes 208.To be fair the Celtics are deep, and have a lot more playoff experience between Horford, Brown, Smart etc. Plus that was one of the more competitive 5 game series you will see.
And Redick is a role player, please tell me how many minutes their starting 5 had other than Redick going into this year.Jaylen Brown had 215 minutes of playoff experience. The etc. is who exactly? Rozier had 376 minutes. Morris 144. Baynes 208.
Horford is really the only one who can be considered a playoff veteran.
JJ Redick has more playoiff minutes than the entire Celtic team minus Horford.
Maybe there is a two for one discount on shot re-working coaches.offdee said:I'm guessing the Fultz jump shot situation (and basically making him a different player) within the same organization isn't helping anything here.
wait, Sixers sink 2 open shots (JJ's 3 last game and i forget the other) and the series is 3-2 Sixers. Adding something will certainly help, but let's not pretend there is this gap between the Cus Crise and the 6'ersThey just got beat by the Celtics reserves in 5 games, of course they need to add to their team if they want to win a championship.
funny how things are omitted to fit arguments. How about one of the main cogs in the series, the head coaches? Wasn't Stevens swept in his first 2 playoff runs? this is Brett's first playoff run, i would think playoff experience may play a part here as wellJaylen Brown had 215 minutes of playoff experience. let's also not forget this is a Celtics team minus its two best players that a lot of people were surprised got past a 1 1/2 man Bucks teamwait, Sixers sink 2 open shots (JJ's 3 last game and i forget the other) and the series is 3-2 Sixers. look, my Celtics' piss and hate is toned down for now. Celtics won the series, it is what it is. but to say the 4-1 series means the Celtics are head and shoulders above the Sixers would be naivelet's also not forget this is a Celtics team minus its two best players that a lot of people were surprised got past a 1 1/2 man Bucks team
Pretty sure the Celtics plan is to rotate 3-4 guys on Lebron and try to wear him down over time. I suspect Morris, Brown, Horford, Smart and Ojelele will on be on him. Regardless, bottom line Lebron is going off this series. I still give Boston a punchers chance though. So Celtics plan on having Morris defend Lebron. that should be fun. i get trying to protect Brown again from getting decimated, but making Morris your sacrificial lamb is pretty cold
Same with the East. Stevens troops imposing their wills vs Lebron's could be classic.Agreed. That's what is going to make the west finals so interesting. Both teams have an identity and style and it will be a shoving match to see who imposes the most.
I think Boston will be more reactive as the series goes on. If they leave Boston without 2 wins then I think Cleveland rolls.Same with the East. Stevens troops imposing their wills vs Lebron's could be classic.
You're crazy.RE: Missing Celtics two best players.
I'm not so sure that Heyward is one of their two best now (assuming he heals fine). Horford and Tatum, as well as Brown may have already eclipsed his talent. Admittedly I didn't see him play much but I don't think its a foregone conclusion that he is one of the two best players and he might even be fifth best right now (or sixth Rozier).

Just a counterpoint to the whole "Sixers lost cause BOS has a super experienced playoff team"
no one said that, but please keep making up these fictional counterpoints. if if anyone did, subtracting Horford is really dumb.no one said that, but please keep making up these fictional counterpoints.
