2017-18 NBA (Playoffs): A gasping, wheezing thread begs message board poster arguing how Jordan never lost a Finals to just let it die in peace (5 Viewers)

Dumb hypo. Put Lebron with literally the worst team in college basketball. Like some 6-25 team in the MAC. They win the tournament?

I'm going to say no, due to the lose one and out scenario.  Maybe with the worst team to qualify for the tourney, but not the worst in all college basketball.

Anyone want to do a mock NBA draft?  I started a thread in the basketball forum here. (Yes, a basketball forum exists.)  We did this before a handful of years ago with various posters being different teams and I thought it was fun.  I thought we'd start after the Finals are over.  We'd have plenty of time so nothing too fast or too demanding of your time.

Please feel free to bump this post so we can drum up interest.  Nobody checks the basketball forum.

Iguodala out for game 7. I don't think that changes the outcome for tonight but may be a factor in the Finals should they make it that far (they will).

I don't really care what happens with Paul, the game should be over sometime late in the third quarter when the Rockets have nothing left in the well to go to as the Warriors unintentionally roped their dope with that -17 first quarter. Had they simply blown the Rockets out Houston probably conserves energy for game 7, but instead they ended up expending a bunch of energy in a game they lost. The worst of both worlds.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Jordan Bell gets the start tonight, as he should. Looney's effort has been admirable but he's become less and less effective as the series has worn on. We should also see some minutes with Livingston in with a modified Death Lineup when Houston goes small. I don't remember seeing it in this thread but Houston has it's own Death Lineup (aka the Tuck Wagon) with P.J. Tucker at center that has seen success in this series. Time for that to end.

Somebody also mentioned how Durant is playing poorly. He was great early in the series when the Warriors were inexplicably relying on the iso, but the Warriors aren't really the Warriors we know and love/hate unless the offense is running through Curry. I'd expect Durant to come back to the fold in this game and everything to be right with the world again.
I wish I was that confident.

Being away, Houston's ability to hit 3 pointers with large volume, and the Dubs not being poised in tight games has me worried.

Klay Thompson had to bail us out twice in elimination games, we've blown a 3-1 series lead, and not getting good shots/mental farts in the final possessions of games 4 and 5 has me a bit worried.

Can't wait until game time!!

Using KP ranks, these were the two biggest rank differentials at the time of the game over last two years:

2017-18 Savannah St (331) v Michigan St (2).  Michigan St was favored by 39, won by 56

2016-17 Maine (340) v Duke (1).  Duke was favored by 37, won by 39

LeBron should be dominant enough to offset those point differentials considering what he does v the NBA.  He also potentially has an additional eight minutes of energy because of the shorter college game.

I don't think any game against a non-elite top four team would be close.

Forgot the board even existed.

I'd be in for my Suns if it gets going.

Edit: Saw someone grabbed them already. I'll chime in if I can remember about the forum.

@Capella could always fire up the 18-19 thread a little early and link it there.  I think it normally starts up as soon as the finals is over and the draft/free agency is usually pretty good discussion.  Often more exciting than most of the season discussion.

That was sort of me, though I didn't say he's playing poorly (then again he wasn't so hot game 6). I said it seems like the Warriors offense works better when he's not in the last few games. He kills the ball when he gets it and everyone else has taken to standing around when he has it. I know nobody does this anymore, but when Houston takes Capella out, they're just begging for a GS big to go down on the low block and work the offense inside out. Particularly when they're trying to guard Durant with someone 5 to 8 inches shorter than him. Put him down on the post, dump the ball into him and either the double team comes and he can hit a wide open 3 point assassin, or they don't double team and he can just turn and shoot over his guy. Instead he wants to take guys off the dribble 30 feet away from the rim. :loco:

I can’t remember one, but has LBJ ever had an injury that actually kept him out for multiple games in a row? I know he’s rested some games but I can’t think of him missing any significant time. You would think with that many minutes over that many years he would have sprained an ankle or something. Maybe he has?

Is James Harden the modern day Dominque Wilkins?

modern day carmelo anthony
:lmao:

Harden is better than both these guys by quite a bit. Especially Melo, Harden has led teams to conference finals, and been a major part of a team that went to the finals. Hard to blame him for losing to one of the greatest players in history and maybe the greatest team in history.

I'm in Tahoe. Headed to the Lone Eagle for dinner. Then the sportsbook for the game. Eleven month old Warriors to the Finals ticket in my wallet. Drinks on me after the game.

Back troubles, sat out like 2-3 weeks.  But no, never any injury where he HAD to miss games.

I got desperate and tried listening to some Bay Area radio on the internet to get a feel for the game. God, sports talk radio is even worse than I remembered. And the commercials!

That Kars for Kids still exists is a testament to how low the human race can go. Like Hitler.

Awesome basketball guys. 3fest is so entertaining. Much better watching teams miss 3's than quality, physical defense. But as long as teams score 120, it's all good.

I don't get what Houston's doing.  GS has been in the bonus for 4 minutes.  Smart play would be to drive aggressively and get the contact.  Especially since the refs are calling it tight so far.
