2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Justin Fuente turning down all suitors.   Good man.  You can't beat Blacksburg for a long, enjoyable HC career.  Good pay.  Cheap cost of living.  Trustworthy fan base and administration.

Duh! He's a star football player.
I really didn't even want to get into it because I understand how it looks, and it's obviously nothing to joke about. I thought we might be able to have a somewhat normal conversation about it in here but clearly not, thanks for being so quick about it. If he did anything wrong he needs to go to jail, we can leave it at that for now.

Yeah I don't know what happened just like I didn't know what happened when Treon Harris got accused at Florida. I was just making a dumb joke about a dark subject. Most of us here probably remember the Jeremy Stephens story that came out several years ago. I have no doubt that Washington and Baylor aren't the only places stuff like that has gone on.

This is definitely not a Jerramy Stevens situation

Several reports locally have said the woman tried to contact Anderson to attend social gatherings together.  Sounds like a bootie call/one night stand gone wrong and when the girl wanted more Anderson blew her off.   We should all know the entire story in a few days.   Sad that on the local football forums her picture and social media sites were shared.

Hasn't been much talk about it in here but this Rodney Anderson rape accusation is really weird. It happened on November 16th, and she didn't remember anything until December 4th. The police report is incredibly sparse, and according to Anderson's attorney he has multiple text messages from her (in between the 16th and 4th) where she is trying to instigate a relationship with him. He is denying everything. I'm not sure if he's still with the team right now or what but from what I am reading they expect the investigation to be done soon and charges are extremely unlikely.
OK, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing, but what is "rape by instrumentation"?

Please tell me it doesn't involve a sousaphone.

Reports from what sources?
His attorney. I'm sure he still has the messages. I'm not really sure why that would matter if he did rape her in November since she's claiming that she didn't remember anything until last weekend. It's just really weird and sad.

Here is the statement.

“Mr. Anderson first learned of (the woman's) request for a civil protective order Monday evening. Mr. Anderson is shocked and disturbed by (the woman's) claims,” it read. “The allegations are patently false. Mr. Anderson did not, nor would he ever, force himself on any woman.

"Following November 16, 2017, (the woman) attempted to pursue a relationship with Mr. Anderson. While we can only speculate as to (the woman's) motives in seeking a civil protective order, her claims surfaced only after Mr. Anderson did not reciprocate a desire to pursue a relationship with (the woman). In fact, Mr. Anderson declined several social invitations from (the woman) between November 16th and December 4th."

“There are undoubtedly true victims of sexual assault, for whom Mr. Anderson carries a tremendous amount of compassion,” read the statement from Anderson's attorney. “However, there are those accused of sexual assault which they unequivocally did not commit — as is the case for Mr. Anderson.

“We are confident that when authorities have all the information surrounding this circumstance, Mr. Anderson will be completely exonerated of any wrong doing, and he looks forward to the conclusion of this investigation so he can focus on his obligations as a student-athlete.”

Pruitt to UT seems done. Good hire considering the ####show they had, as long as he doesn't bang all the women in the admin offices.

Oregon insiders

Twitter has really devalued the word "source"
You just can't help yourself from being an ### can you?  By the way, Leavitt himselt tweeted "what makes you think I am going to FSU "  I think he probably goes unless Oregon offers him the head coaching job.

It sure is nice of UT to help Bama figure out if Pruitt will be a decent successor to Saban or not.  That way Bama won't have to roll the dice on Pruitt themselves in a few years having no idea if he can be a HC or not.

I’m guessing that’s Dabo’s job if he wants it when Saban retires.

Every year pre-CFP. I doubt he stays like Kirby did. Lupoi slides in but we’ll have to pull from somewhere to fill a big hole (especially DB oriented).

That’s what everyone says. It’s funny because I mentioned it 5 years ago to a few Bama friends right after we beat LSU in the peach and had 11 wins.  You would have thought I suggested Hitler with how appalled they were that someone named Dabo could take their prized Bama program over some day.  Now I can barely get through my coffee without someone razzing me about “when momma comes calling” and how Dabo is heading for Bama.  I digress.

I think theyll offer it to him, but I do sincerely think he won’t take it at this point.  It’s weird to think of it this way, but I think Dabo’s love from that time in his life is actually more for Gene Stallings, and then somewhere down the line for Bama itself. Besides, he’s been in Clemson for over a decade now. His son goes to Clemson, his next son will go to Clemson, his wife is super involved with the local church and the LIFE program.  I’m not saying it won’t ever happen, but I think every year that passes it becomes less likely than the year before. Besides, who wants to be the guy that follows Saban and lives in that shadow when you’re a living legend already in a Clemson?

Yeah he's going back to bama at some point.  It's in the bag.  But he may not be the next guy.  I agree that I wouldn't want to be the very next guy...

If you had asked me a few years ago, yeah I would have thought so. I’m not so sure now. He’s built the program to the point that he can do the same things he can do at Bama.  He won the title and it’s not one of 12 like it would be there, it’s one of two. He’s going to get a statue, he’s going into the ring of honor, he’s a living legend at Clemson now.

If it happens, it happens. I just don’t think it’s in the bag. Not anymore.

Yea I wouldn't assume anybody is ever going to leave a place where you can get a statue of you put up.

Edit: well I guess Jimbo just did this but he didn't build FSU up like Dabo did Clemson

He's in the process of building his own "Bear Bryant"-type legacy at Clemson.  Why would he leave that to go and try to live up to both Bear and Saban?  Doesn't make sense unless it is stupid money.  Even then, Dabo is about as genuine as you'll ever see. I don't think dollar signs motive him.  I'd be very surprised to see him leave SC for Alabama, or anywhere else.  But time will tell.

Why be the next Bear or Saban when you can be Clemson's iconic coach.

Oh good christ, Mike Shula and Mike Dubose were given jobs to coach this school.  Can we dial back the reverence just a touch?

And the guy who was doing the stripper the night he got hired!

Alabama fans DO seem to forget that 15 year period before Saban, and act like it can't happen again when that guy's heart gives out -- Gump and jplvr excluded.

That'd be Mike Price. I tell all the young people to enjoy this, because a stretch like this may never be seen again.

Bad premise - Saban is heartless.

Oregon State: Former Nebraska and Oregon State head coach Mike Riley has rejoined the Beavers as an assistant head coach. Riley went 93-80 as Oregon State head coach from 1997-98 and 2003-14. New head coach Jonathan Smith was a player and assistant under Riley.

I like this.  Good for Smith and Riley.

Best agent in sports.  "Jon, you've got a layover in NY, so please send a few tweets about how much you love the city and would like to live there someday. Then you're going to have dinner in Knoxville - there will be a Vols hat shipped to your hotel room for you to wear about town. Take lots of pictures. We've got another Corona shoot and then we're going back to ESPN to re-work your deal."

Dabo asked why he voted OSU #4 and Bama #5 in the last Coaches Poll...while standing next to Saban (obviously this poll is serious business):

“You want the honest answer? It was a moment of insanity,” Swinney said. “It was 3 o’clock in the morning driving on a bus and I said, ‘Oh, I have to do this bowl thing.’ I looked at it and saw Ohio State had 11 wins, Alabama had 11 wins, but Ohio State had just won the Big 10 Championship … It was a moment of insanity.”

“He was just disrespecting his alma mater,” Saban said.
