2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

I could have sworn you posted - this is not college football as it should be - that wasn’t you? My bad if not.
I posted that it was the way I think college football SHOULD be. 2 teams fighting it out, capable of passing & running the football.

Of course I'm gonna watch. I just expect it to be miserable.
I could see this also being a classic.  The UGA running game finally forces Saban to make a move at QB down by 10 and the freshman leads his team to a classic last minute victory.

Bama set the precedent.  Play the sisters of the poor and get rewarded.  I hope everyone starts to do what bama has been doing forever!

If Bama had lost to Tennessee by 31 points they wouldn't have been in the playoffs.  If UCF had better wins than Memphis they might have gotten into a four team playoff.  HTH

We need to go back in time and correct all the injustices of college football.

2010 TCU, 2008 Utah, 1998 Tulane, 1975 Arkansas State.  All worthy of reparations.

So you point to Tenn. As a big win no wonder bama got in lol.  Surely UCF would have got trounced by the mighty vols.

There's  actually a so-called playoffs  where this wasn't  supposed  to happen but it's a f in joke to let two sec team's in.

Curious if you know how this years Bama schedule SOS compares to last years Buckeyes?
Before being selected to the CFP, 2016 OSU beat 11-2 Oklahoma, 11-3 Penn State, 10-3 Michigan, and 11-3 Wisconsin.

Before being selected to the CFP, 2017 Alabama's best win was over 9-4 LSU.

I'm okay with teams not winning their conference making it into the playoff, but it should because their accomplishments were so great that they shouldn't be overlooked. Alabama didn't accomplish much at all this year. They were selected simply because of the eyeball test. And given what they did to Clemson, the eyeball test proved to be true. But if eyeball tests gets one into the playoff, then we will have teams scheduling weak ### teams and running up the scores again, just like we had before for decades. The new CFP "committee" has changed nothing.

:lmao:

Let's riot!  I just wanna see an 8 team tournament.  That's not too much to ask.  Not sure what would make people more angry, but I think a Bama win here might be the best case scenario.  I can't wait to see the drop in ratings for this match.  No one outside of the rebel states will care at all.

FYI as of mid December each year, 2016 OSU was #1 SOS. 2017 Bama was #10.

Lol you are really expecting that QB move. I can't imagine a world where it actually happens.

One of the kids will probably transfer, right? I know Saban would probably prefer they both stick around and compete with one another (I seem to recall he was upset when some of the other QBs left after Hurts won the job last year) but that seems unrealistic. Do you tell Hurts this spring that it's an open competition? It would behoove him to transfer before the fall semester starts but I wouldn't fault Bama if they aren't ready to make that decision yet. That's a tough spot for Hurts.

It was a competition this past off season.  Hurts won

So that's the end of it forever? I am talking about for next year. There is no way they just give the job to Hurts

Didn't say that. Of course it will be.  Esp if bama loses
I understand Hurts won the job this year, that seems pretty obvious. What I am saying is that I don't think either player will be happy as the backup next season and would prefer to transfer if he doesn't win the job. If you are going to transfer you want to do it before the fall 2018 semester starts so you don't miss out on another year. I am curious to see if either kid will decide to move on this spring/summer is all I am saying.

A day to reflect and still don't know how M. Stoops wasn't met on the tarmac with walking papers.     Scoring 48 points in a game and still losing is ridiculous.

7 times this year the Sooners have given up more than 30 points in a game.  That is Division II ball stats playing Division I schools.    I swear M. Stoops must have nudes on someone, or the B. Stoops stuck around to save his brother's job.     UGH.

Go Dawgs.

Being the OU defensive coordinator is a tough job. Everyone plays wide open spread in the Big 12 so you have to recruit and play smaller guys who can chase for 80 plays a game.

Stoops probably needs to go just because it’s time for a change, but not because he’s done a terrible job. Someone else may be able to do better, but it’s not a guarantee. Venables defenses gave up a lot of yards and points too and fans wanted him gone also.

Stoops can probably get a mid level HC job, I would think he might look into that. He’s getting more pressure as a DC than he would get as any HC in a non P5. He could go to Illinois as the HC and never have this much angst.

Saw a rare decent segment on ESPN showing some of the scheme breakdowns UGA took advantage of.  Really poor stuff.

Some interesting tidbits:

1. Yes this is an SEC clash, but Georgia and Alabama have only played two times in the last nine years. This is not remotely the same as LSU-Bama.

2. Michel and Chubb broke the all time record for most combined rushing yards by a duo with over 8000. Previous record was held by Eric Dickerson and Craig James at SMU in the early 80's.

3. Jake Fromm originally committed to Bama but then flipped to UGA after Kirby Smart became Georgia's Head Coach.
