2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (2 Viewers)

Updating something I heard earlier this week: Saban is now 0-7 whenever facing an Auburn team with at least 9 wins (0-3 at LSU, now 0-4 at Bama).

I don't follow college football too much except near the end of the year and if my Spartans are doing well, but I can't be the only one that is delighted that both OSU and Alabama might not make the playoff, can I?

I know it's not going to be a popular opinion in here. I like the idea of at least one team each from the P5 and a few wild cards thrown in.
Would be almost the same as the NCAA tournament. 8 teams would be ideal for this. Each P5 conference winner, and three at-large bids. Would love it personally.

Why. Then that Alabama loss today would be totally meaningless. Devalues the regular season.
That loss might not matter but this ND/Stanford game that no one cares about would matter.  There would still be drama over the at-large teams as Alabama would get one then the last two come amongst UGA/Auburn loser, Miami/Clemson loser, Ohio St/Wisconsin loser, TCU/Oklahoma loser, Notre Dame and Penn State.  And it would be a bad ### playoff too.

I kinda hope the committee puts Bama at 4 and Wisconsin at 5 this week just to #### with everyone.  :)
That would be funny because so many people would lose their minds and forget the fact that with a win over OSU the Badgers would easily jump the Tide.

LOL Brian Kelly crapping the bed. No business leading going into the 4th and three plays and a turnover later, Stanford tacks on 2 more TDs: 31-20 Trees.

I hate Kelly but he does not turn it over.

ND isn't very good.   Offensive line has been a huge disappointment.   Wimbush isn't much of a thrower.  Defense has regressed back to expectations at the start of the year.

Every single QB has regressed under Kelly. That’s the most damning thing to point out about his tenure. Novembers have become maddeningly horrible in his tenure, teasing fans only to blow it every time hope rears its head.

It is his fault. That’s called coaching and game planning. The QB situation is on the coaches. This is eight years into his tenure watching his team play like this.
They can't run the ball and they don't have a passing qb.  I'm not sure what else they can do.  There's not a lot of talent out there.   This oline is so overrated.

If Wisconsin beats OSU, then they should be in, no questions asked. Is anyone actually arguing against that?
I guess dumb people

Lets say Clemson, Wisconsin, Oklahoma win out.   Who does Alabama take the place of?

Wisconsin.

Edit bad pasting job. That was culdeus, not Sand saying that

Bet Saban is pretty happy he slapped the collective whole of college football in the face last week playing an FCS team leading into Auburn. It would be a shame if Bama made it in with their schedule and best win against a 3 loss team.

No way Bama should be in the 4. Got to win your league, this was essentially the divsional round of the playoffs and they got bounced.
This gets back into my old question, is the playoff for the 4 best teams or the 4 teams who had the best seasons?  Because those could be different answers.

But Wisconsin is getting blasted for thier strength of schedule. Compare the two. Actually look at the numbers. I'll hang up and listen

I hope Wisconsin wins next week.  I hate tOSu, their stupid fans, and their Fred Sanford (I'm coming to see you Elizabeth!) cheating coach.  But I think the Buckeyes win by a lot, so that sucks.

The SEC Champ and the ACC Champ are in.

If Wisconsin wins they're in.

If Oklahoma wins they're in.  That would be the four.

If OU or Wisconsin lose Bama is in.

If both OU and Wisconsin lose then tOSU and Alabama are probably in, even though OU and tOSU would have two losses and OU beat them head to head.

I think Clemson v Alabama and OU v Georgia are the playoff games.

As my son and I were watching the Bama game I told him about the Bloise St. game from aught 7 against Oklahoma.  Man that ending was insanely great.

As an OSU fan, I'm supposed to want OSU in by beating Wisconsin, but personally I don't want OSU in because our defense is average at best. However, I think if OSU wins they'll get in over Alabama.

First of all, as an OSU fan I'm well aware of 1 loss teams getting in over 2 loss teams with a conference championship even when the 2 loss team beat that 1 loss team (see OSU over PSU in 2016). Wisconsin will have the same argument that they should get in over OSU for the same reason OSU got in over PSU in 2016. But I don't think that 2016 OSU scenario applies to Wisconsin in 2017. 2016 OSU got in that year because they beat a 10 win Oklahoma, a 10 win Michigan, and a 10 win Wisconsin. 2017 Wisconsin's best wins would be against a 9 win Northwestern, an 8 win Michigan, and a 7 win Iowa. 2017 OSU best wins would be against a 12 win Wisconsin team, a 10 win Penn State team and a 9 win Michigan State team. Because 2017 Wisconsin doesn't have the signature wins 2016 OSU had, nor the signature wins 2017 OSU has, a 1 loss Wisconsin without a conference championship would lose out to the 2 loss conference champion OSU. OSU gets the nod over Wisconsin.

But common opinion says it doesn't matter because Alabama would get in over OSU. But wait a second.... if a 1 loss Wisconsin without a conference championship with best wins against 9, 8 and 7 win teams doesn't get in over a 2 loss OSU with a conference championship with best wins against 12, 10, and 9 win teams, then neither would a 1 loss Alabama without a conference championship with best wins against 9, 8 and 7 win teams. Alabama's best three wins are against a 9 win LSU, an 8 win Mississippi State, and a 7 win Texas A&M. So their resume is on par with Wisconsin. I can see OSU getting in over Alabama for the same reason OSU would get in over Wisconsin.

Similarly I think TCU beating Oklahoma could put TCU in over Alabama for the same reason. TCU would be a 2 loss team with a conference championship with wins over 11, 9 and 7 win teams. Even USC could be a 2 loss team with a conference championship with better wins than Alabama (9, 9, and 7).

Alabama's best argument for getting in is.... S E C! S E C! S E C!

And to be honest, if OSU got in, playing Alabama would scare me the least. OSU beat them in 2014, and Alabama was better in 2014 than they are now.
