2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

:goodposting:

Anyone watched Rutgers football lately? I did yesterday, when MSU made lots of really stupid mistakes and beat them 40-7. And earlier this year when they became the first Big Ten team ever to lose to Eastern Michigan. And last year when they got blown out by a really bad MSU team. I'm personally of the opinion that Rutgers is so bad the Big Ten should have its Power 5 status revoked just because of their presence. And Schiano won there. That's something. Doesn't necessarily make it a good hire, but it's something.
True... but let's not forget that Schiano's Ohio State defense is so bad that it gave up a passing TD to O'Korn..... oh and 55 points to Iowa.

He was good there but he wasn't winning in the Big Ten there.  It was an average Big East conference back then.   And he's been not very good at other places.  If Michigan State had an opening today and hired Schiano would you be excited or happy?

I think Schiano must put neck braces on the corners so they can't turn their heads to look for the ball.

I'd just prefer the debate to be about the #8 team instead of 4, and for teams like UCF, Western Michigan or MTSU to have a remote chance of playing for the trophy.

That's a reason to prefer college basketball.
I've got plenty of reason to prefer college basketball these days.

All true. I probably wouldn't be excited, but I wouldn't be crushed either. I'd give him a shot.

In 2006 when MSU last had an opening, I'd have considered him a home run. But obviously his stock and MSU's have been moving opposite directions since then.

I agree.  It is dumb if Morre gets elected.
We're voting against him but Tim's line about being "guilty of pedophilia" is wrong.

Not to mention completely irrelevant and apparent trolling.

Wait, let me understand this: Tennessee is not going to hire a head coach because someone said he might have known about pedophilia, but at the same time Alabama is going to elect a United States Senator who is guilty of pedophilia?
Neither the time nor the place for this discussion.

So, the FSU job is really coming open? I find that shocking.

Who is going to be left for them to go after?
I still highly doubt he leaves, and so does the main guy who always has great sources. Thinks it's another money and facilities play. Although, FSU could finally tell him to pound sand. Have to have some kind of balls to ask for more money after this season.

Lol so true

I hate that but it’s not Schiano. They’ve been teaching that style for several years. Drives me nuts every game, I am constantly yelling at the tv for them to turn around and they never listen to me.

Off the pedophilia track, but Is it true that UF's facilities are considered subpar?  Someone on the radio here made that comment yesterday when comparing the UCLA andlorida job openings?

Figure Venables gets some interest.
Arkansas is apparently interested.  If that’s what he wants, I hope he gets it. I’d of course rather him stick around, but he’s earned the right to do what he wants. His kids are committed to play for us, not that it matters too much yet.

First it’s not wrong, and if you want to discuss that aspect of it we can do so in the politics forum.

Second, I wasn’t trolling. If Tennessee fans are really going to push this guy out over this issue, then there’s an incredible irony going on here and I can guarantee you I won’t have been the last person to raise it.

Finally, sorry Ka El but this absolutely IS the time and place for this discussion. The main reason I and many others were opposed to the Politics Forum in the first place is because these issues intertwine with each other.

Tennessee fans don't want Schiano because he's mediocre.  Take your Alabama political nonsense where it belongs.  You and some bored college kid with a can of spray paint are the only two that think they are intertwined.

Here’s a hint: Not everyone wants to have politics infused into everything- INCLUDING AND SPECIFICALLY the things we do to get away from that bull####.

Get with the program here or get out

I was flat out shocked that Mullen left for Florida.  You guys could embarrass me with past comments about how I thought that Florida would be the last place he went.   Its kind of shady, our old AD who is an Alumnus poached Mullen less than a year after taking the job at Florida.  Can't be bitter, he left us about a million times better than when he got here.  Don't know how well he'll do there though.

First names for the Miss State opening coming out...Pruitt (Bama's DC) as the head coach and he has Chip Lindsey (Auburn's OC) to be our OC/Associate HC.  I'd do that deal in a heart beat.  Pruitt is pretty unproven, but that combo fits footprint as good as possible.
