2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Why would anyone hire Sumlin?  Wasn't his work ethic called into questions multiple times?  Or was that because he was drunk and he's all better now?  Someone tickle my memory glands...TIA.

I would do the Tennessee job just for shtick and my current salary.  I could guarantee them I'd sell out The Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl, how could they turn me down?

Is this where we find out that all of the coaches that turned the Vols down (and received handsome raises) share the same agent? And then when Tennessee finally hires choice #23, Currie arrives at the press conference, peels off a mask and reveals that he's the agent's evil twin brother.

MUAHAHAHAHA

I heard today that Jimbo Fischer and Willie Taggart have the same agent.  Smells like shenanigans to me.  Think Taggart stays at Oregon, no idea if Jimbo leaves FSU.

Jimmy Sexton is practically everybody's agent. He's the most powerful man in CFB, by a good deal.

OU went into Columbus and crushed tOSU. Since the committee hasn’t valued much of Wisconsin has done, it would be hard to fathom them ignoring an earlier head to head. That and being beaten like a drum by Iowa should mean Cheater U should be out regardless.
Plus putting Mayfield in the playoffs isn't bad for ratings.

Cheater U? Are you 12?

Volnation

It's real life Bizarro world. Hours of fun
Yesterday I dropped in for a second. Top thread was someone suggesting that Vol fans should stop using social media to threaten/harass the AD and prospective coaching candidates.

All the responses disagreed with him :lmao:

I admit that I laughed when Tee Martin was brought up originally. I didn't realize he had been an OC for a few years. He really is the only name that makes sense at this point because:

A) Vols really need somebody who won't turn them down

B) If your budget doesn't allow enough money to pry Jeff Brohm away from a football powerhouse like Purdue,  it's time to start looking at coordinators.

Just leak something like "officials in Knoxville are extending their search into next week in order to evaluate coaches playing this weekend".
He seems to be the clear choice at this point. Well, him or Les Miles. Whoever would say yes first.

UT's 2nd favorite son might be able to heal Volnation.

My UT buddy said, poetically, I thought, "I didn't want the search to start there but I sure as hell hope it ends there. Today."

And let me also just add that it's a real shame that Butch Davis's early sixties were wasted way after that stupid UNC scandal. He's a damn good football coach. I wish he was still at UNC and he'd be perfect at UT if he were a few years younger.

Wasn’t he the cause of the scandal?

I don't get this. It reminds me of Bielema's wife. UT didn't do anything to Kiffin but pay him a lot of money for one mediocre season. He screwed them over and now he's going to act like a ##### towards them too?

I guess it really isn't acting with Lane so I've probably answered my own question.
Probably why many schools will avoid hiring him as a head coach.

Interesting theory I heard yesterday, if there is anything to the Jimbo/Taggert rumors ...

Would Frost spurn his alma mater and actually go back to Oregon?

Les Miles HC, Tee Martin OC.  That'd be a better hire than Schiano at least.  It would stop the bleeding.  I have some memory of Miles trying to hire Martin at some point.  Hell, bring Chavis in on D and we'll have some real fireworks.

He's kind of boys with the AD.

The connection is 3 million more in annual salary than FSU is paying him with an 8-10 year contract.
Woah, A&M is willing (and able) to pay him $3MM more per year than FSU?  :loco: #### loyalty.

Oh yea he would be nuts to stay. 8-10 years guaranteed too.

From what I've read this week, A&M has mad money.
Fake Army U fans loves seating licenses so they can watch cheer team dudes throw around other cheer team dudes.  This is not even shtick, they should rename the college Texas S&M University.  Never met anyone from there even halfway normal, pretty sure they're all mutants.

A&M fan today on twitter:

????@ lesser program. Keep poking the bear. A&M could buy FSU's football program and use it as there own personal flag football facility. Love those shots you keep sending Bud

fsu guy (bud Elliott): A&M can "buy FSU's football program", but can't buy color TV highlights of its last national title because the technology didn't exist in 1939.

For realz??

@newyscruggs: Sources tell @NBCDFWSports that former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach is working on a deal to become the next coach at Tennessee.  A deal could be announced Friday.  I’m working on more details.

Signing Leach would make the Vols the guy at the country club that the members make fun of until he shows up at dinner party with a young, attractive, psychotic woman who tries to seduce a couple wealthy members and tells the others to eff off.

I'm for anything that makes Leach more high profile.
