2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Wow

I would be shocked if Taggart left Oregon after 1 year.  I would guess perhaps a 20% chance he bolts.  I heard a rumor FSU is preparing to offer him $20MM for 5 years, which is what he would make at Oregon.  Count in the fact he has an unbelievable recruiting class coming in and an easier path to the playoffs on the Pac 12 with Clemson and Miami doing well.
Why wouldn't he want one more year with Herbert?  I think he's the best underclassman QB in the country.  He can make Taggart look great as evidenced by the games he didn't play where Taggart looked outfoxed.

I can't believe FSU is putting up with the "Is Jimbo staying or leaving?"    I would think FSU would be if you want to look at other jobs let us help you out...you're fired.
Fsu would owe him 40 million if they fired him. So....no.

Chance of suspension though? Growing by the hour.

  this is great. Only need NCAA sanctions for a cherry on top of this turd pie.

How exactly is Fulmer sabotaging the search?

Supposedly Currei would target someone and people inside UT (Fulmer) were calling the candidates and telling them it's a toxic situation, the AD is going to get fired,  don't come here.

THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE ROCKY TOP!!!

Link?   Thats insane if true

Another source: Tennessee’s own people have been ambushing (John) Currie’s (coaching search). They shoot themselves in the foot, #### the gun & shoot themselves in the other foot. It’s been going on for a week"

Yet another source on Tennessee situation: “Your tweets about (John) Currie (& coaching search being sabotaged) are exactly accurate. I know the situation well"

Others confirm like Bruce Feldman:

Industry source: “Throughout this entire (#Tennessee) coaching search Phil Fulmer has tried to undermine AD John Currie in hopes of becoming the AD there.”

And now they have fired Currie.

Just to reiterate, he was super great for most of his time here, but also 10-10 in his last 20 ACC games, 5-6 this season, and lost to BC 31-3. Crazy!

Someone inside the athletic dept. also obviously leaked the news Sunday that Schiano was about to be hired.

For some odd perspective this will be my first coaching search I get to obsess over.

*was born in 1978

*Bowden hired in 1976

*Bowden retired/pushed out in 2009 and Jimbo was the coach in waiting as the OC.

Wild. How do I track a plane?

I think you PM @chetand he follows it in his plane.

Dabo, leaving the ACC title game presser: "So Jimbo took that job, huh?" Sitting outside the press conference room is more entertaining than actually being in it.

I still think the perfect candidate for FSU coaching job is the Lions offensive coordinator.

Noles could troll everybody by replacing Jimbo with Jim Bob.

My nerdy son has an ap on his phone where he tracks planes.  He'll point it up in the sky and say "That's Delta 212 heading to Minneapolis".

I wish I were kidding about this.

It's amazing that Jimbo decided to take the job today, looked around his house and thought "well I gotta get rid of that tree."

It's times like this I get sentimental...it was 11 years ago exactly that we were tracking planes thru the Rich Rod fiasco.

That’s pretty cool imo :nerd:
I went up to his room a few months ago to empty his trash and noticed his laptop was up and untended to.  Figuring it would be my parental obligation to check his internet history just to see what's what, I was met with several links to a message board.  A message board about airplanes, flights, flying, how to become a pilot...no porn, no devil music, nothing sinister, just.....myriad links to a message board about airplanes.  When I saw him coming up the stairs, my reaction to him was like this.

I have a couple of friends who have this app. One of them does some pretty amazing airplane photography ... so much so that when he tags an airline in a photo a couple of them have bought the pictures from him to use on their websites, social media, etc.

My buddy here at the office is the same way.  He listens to their approaches too.  We work across the street from the airport.  It’s boring.  :bag:

Can you, uh, let me know how he listens in on approaches?  :nerd:

DD, let me know how best to start selling the Air Force Academy.  I know it's damn hard to get into but he's got the grades so far and unlike his dad is squeaky clean.  Is there a better route to flying planes than that?

This would not upset me too much as a Lions fan. His playcalling isn't the best.

Has anyone new turned down Tennessee today?
No, but Fat Fulmer is officially the AD now.

"Phillip Fulmer will begin serving as athletic director effective immediately," Davenport said. "I have taken these steps in the best interest of the university."

"I am confident that Phillip understands the need to support our student-athletes and our commitment to excellence in all athletic programs. I appreciate his willingness to serve during this critical time."

"No one better understands the storied history of Vol athletics and its deep connection to alumni and fans, and I believe he will be a unifying presence for all of us committed to the university's success."

A former Tennessee football student-athlete, assistant coach and national-championship-winning head coach who has dedicated more than 40 years of his life to UT, Fulmer will now lead the continued search for a new head football coach.

Fulmer is the second-winningest coach in Tennessee football history, compiling a 152-52 career record in 17 seasons at the helm of the program.
Why did they fire him again?

Why did they fire him again?
Didn't win a national championship with the older Manning, wasn't able to recruit the younger Manning.

Lost three of the last four against Bama.
