2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Hell of a game.  JMU is a fun team.  That D is awesome except for the fourth quarter tonight.  First time someone has scored more than 14 on them all year.

Playoff football is great and their regular season isn't diminished at all.  Homefield advantage is huge.
I think it was you that said a week or two ago that JMU's coach is gonna be gone soon. Good for him, but I'll be sorry to see him leave. I live about a half hour from Harrisonburg and the Dukes have actually generated some buzz in the Valley, which is filled with VT & WVU fans.

I think Frost was a great hire for Nebraska.   Good guy and excited to see what he can do there.
Yeah I think he is gonna do very well there. I remember reading why he first went to Stanford because Bill Walsh was there for his second go round, but left because Walsh quit after he declared. Or something like that. To go from a West Coast based offense to the Nebraska offense back then was like a total switch in mechanics, yet he still won as quarterback.

Which hurt his draft stock going into the NFL - he went in as a safety - and obviously that didn't happen, but he is has very smart football mind.

Guess we can write Oregon off for the next 4 years. Absolutely insane hire.
It might have made sense to just sit this round of coaching hires out, as Oregon just did. A lot of big jobs were available this year, without a lot of great candidates available, plus Oregon got held up with the timing (FSU waiting on Jimbo to negotiate every last penny from A&M) and got a late start on the search.

I'm not sure what the alternatives were. Makes sense to just take a knee. Maybe they get lucky with Cristobal, but most likely, they've just given themselves a full year or so to go ahead and do a full coaching search while he flounders. Plus, being an in-house guy without much track record, it'll be easier to fire him early in the season.

I have no issue with the Herm Edwards hire besides the ESPN going away crap today.

Todd Graham is one of the worst coaches I’ve ever seen and ASU is a 7-5 program. Why not try a guy like Edwards? What do you really have to lose?

No reason ASU shouldn’t compete in the PAC :X
I'd rather Texas than ASU in the Pac 12. Why? Who cares about ASU?

He won 10 games twice there.  He's that bad?

This is where I am on it.  I spent yestersay trying to convince myself it was the right hire and that maybe he's a better coach than he's being regarded by some in here.......and then I got in my car and listened to his long, rambling, meandering press conference that felt like a long car ride to nowhere with several stops and starts and direction changes.

If he coaches like he talks to the media, this team will be a gong show.

As long as Nebraska beats OSU, UMich, and Sparty while losing to Penn State I'm fine with it. :D

Interesting way of looking at it. Kind of makes sense but there were still decent candidates. Maybe waiting for a home run though.

Keep moving the goalposts.   Your whole mantra has always been recruiting and you have no chance to be elite without it.  What I still can't figure out is why Florida State went after Taggart.   Sure he can recruit well but who can't at Florida State?  He can look like a deer in headlights on the sidelines when forced with a quick decision to go for it or not in a game.  His play calling is very frustrating.  I think Cristobal will be at Oregon longer than Taggart will be at FSU.
That....that has never changed. That is rule #1-3. But that doesn't mean you are elite because you recruit well either. When I said that's all that matters, that is true if you want to win a national title. But you still need solid coaches. I literally cannot believe I have to explain that.

Shame on you @PlasmaDogPlasma, don't expect that from you. Smh ??‍♂️

Well I didn’t say he was a good safety lol. I forgot who he played for after he was drafted. Its not like any of those championship Nebraska teams back then produced NFL quarterbacks

Just curious - how hard/easy is it to get tickets to see Army-Navy?
My wife and I put feelers out all over the place this year, trying to get tickets.  No one could help us out.  No one even had any leads.  eBay had maybe three sets of tickets, all in the upper deck for at least $600 a pair.  StubHub's cheapest was $500 for the last row in the upper deck.  You could get a pair at field level in the corner of the end zone for $600, or field level at the 20 for $800.  50 yard line and club level were as much as $1500 a pair.

My Dad is a Vietnam Navy veteran (enlisted).  He's always wanted to attend the game and we live halfway between Baltimore and Philadelphia.  He turns 70 next year.  I'm going to have to pull the trigger on a pair.

I have access to many people who can get them but I’ve only been able to score some (4) once. I was offered a ticket this year from someone I know locally, but I declined because I had a charity event today.

My advice to you is talk to Eagles season ticket holders, they get a good allotment to the game and I think they do a lottery. That or USMA or NA grads, they at least have a path to face value tickets.

Thanks DD.  I appreciate the advice. I never knew about Eagles season ticket holders.
