2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

I seriously still can’t believe that OU didn’t let Mayfield try to make a play on a few of those 3rd downs.  I think there were about 3 of them that if they convert they most likely win.

Agree. They got away from their gameplan and it cost them.

They did on the 3rd and 2 on the last drive in regulation. He tried to hit the wheel route and missed. I’m sure there are other reads or options on that play and Mayfield has the freedom to choose where to go. Mayfield wasn’t really that great in the second half but the defense had a lot to do with that. 

The end around in OT seemed like an odd one to me, but if it works he’s a genius. I think if you’re going to run just give it to Anderson. I do like that Riley is willing to be creative in big spots but it looks bad when it doesn’t work.

I’m really stewing over the squib quick at the end of the first half. Yes, the kicker is supposed to get it past the first line of defenders but there’s really no reason to put him in that position. His touchback rate was one of the best in the country, kick it into the stupid end zone and they probably just take a knee. So dumb. 

 
I’m curious if this year’s game will be highest rated or worst with two teams from the same conference?

Personally, I couldn’t care less about the outcome or watching the game.

No reason for SC fans to do it either.  I can't stand the chant.  A replica of the trophy doesn't come to Columbia.

I personally was hoping for Oklahoma to take it all.  Never can pull for Clemson, only pull for Bama when they play Clemson (and maybe Notre Dame or OSU), and never pull for Georgia ... but will against Alabama.

(granted I may pull for Alabama or Georgia during the regular season if their victory benefits the Gamecocks in conference standings)

 
It's going to be an atrocious title game to watch. Lsu-Bama levels from 2011 imo. Both teams want to run run run and play suffocating defense and Kirby is going to mimic Saban's week of prep. I guess it sucks OU lost because they would have at least been fun. 

We got a taste of a Saban-less joy-filled CFB game yesterday and it's nice to look into the future and see what that's like without that succubus stealing all the fun out of the sport, but alas, we have to wait till his heart finally goes or he ends up in an illegal Ponzi scheme like every other Alabama resident.

I think I’ve mentioned it, but I lived in Cola for 6+ years. I have a lot of Gamecock friends and the banter is always fun except the conference circle jerk. I couldn’t count the number of times I heard “if we didn’t play an SEC schedule instead of the weak ACC, we would have 10 wins too and blah blah blah.”  Then they’d celebrate Bama or Cam’s Title like they won it. My BIL was legit ecstatic when Cam won the title over Oregon. It’s very odd. I’d almost understand it if it were just the sidewalk fans, but he’s an alum. All of those friends were alums actually.

Sorry. Your team is so irrelevant that sometimes I forgot it's from Alabama. 

And it's not bitter, except the fact that one semi was an all-time classic and the second was a 3.5 hour death march to nowhere. And I have a good idea what the finale will be more like.

Also I forgot, nice win yesterday. I’d be lying if I said I watched it all, but I caught the final score. It was 19-3 when I flipped to the Peach Bowl. 

 
Are people really not watching the championship game because they don't like the teams in it?  Wow.  I like football so I pretty much watch as much as possible.  You guys will miss a great game

If things are close, I will watch it.  When its two teams I don't like and one pulls away then I'll play video games instead.  :shrug:

Just not interested in another SEC championship game really.  Really thought OU would pull through, but the D screwed the pooch on the last play.

For me it's not about not liking the team's it's just Alabama  didn't  deserve to be in.  It's a travesty and I didn't watch the Clemson game and i certainly  won't watch the  NC  game because they didn't deserve to be in it.

UCF the Real NC anyway.

There were lots of bowl games I had no interest in watching. This will just be another.

Less that teams are deserving/undeserving for me and more of "it feels like I'd be watching any other CBS Saturday afternoon SEC game."

More along the lines of why watching UT/Missouri play again was boring to me since that used to be an annual conference game.

They were favored against and then defeated the defending national champs in pretty convincing fashion, but don't deserve to be there?

My favorite thing is people using the UCF over auburn victory to validate how UCF should be in, but then refuse to validate the same for Bama over Clemson.
