In the early days of the show, Kimmel had a lot of trouble booking A-list guests. At the end of one show, as a joke, he said "Sorry we didn't have time for Matt Damon tonight..." And it got the biggest laugh of the night. So he said the same thing the next night, and the next night, and it became Jimmy's catch phrase for about a year and it led to a fake feud between Kimmel and Damon.

The bit peaked a couple years later when Jimmy's girlfriend Sarah Silverman made this video.
