Somebody dropped Carolina in my league.

Good defense playing at home on a short week. Should control the eagles run game and make them one dimensional.

Is anyone else rolling with Caolina?

Thanks for the response. I am pretty much scrapping the barrel right now with options. Either Carolina, Green Bay, LA Rams, or Titans are my only choices.
Whats wrong with GB? They have been a decent fantasy defense and face a Vikings team led by Case Keenum, Latavius Murray and possibly no Diggs.

#3 offense in the league behind only NE and KC. I wouldn't bet on it.

Stuck with Pitt with Buff on a bye.  Redskins out there but I have a bad feeling with that one plus they're beat up on D.

I think a real sleeper is Tennessee at home on MNF against Indy who is giving up the most pts to defenses according to yahoo. I just dropped the Eagles whom I like but not this week.

Seahawks on bye this week. I am rolling with NO at home, coming off the bye, with 4 sacks in each of the last 2 games, going against a Detroit team that has given up 6 sacks in each of the last 2 games with a injury addled OL. Other interesting options on WW are GB, Ind (if mariota is out), and Cle (Collins is back this week, and Garrett in his 2nd game).

 This is a solid week coming up to attempt to acquire an excellent defense after waivers run.

A couple defenses I have seen dropped in my leagues this week...........  BUFFALO, SEATTLE, CINCY .

NOTE - They are on bye.  So if its someone you want to try and hold, you don't have to worry about a bye down the road.

How actively are you cats trying to snag one of these?  In one league I am pretty much a dead LOCK to be able to get one of these, and I am eyeing BUFFALO.

 BUFFALO has a nice upcoming next 3 weeks, and the are are ......TAMPA BAY, OAKLAND, @ JETS . As a cherry on top, they get INDY and MIAMI  @ home in weeks 14-15 of the playoffs if you can hold them.

Its not too early to start looking ahead to the playoffs, and targeting the easier schedules. We should at least begin to keep these in mind.  (those of us that plan on MAKING the playoffs anyway)  :excited:

Thoughts on anyone you might be trying to acquire this week after waivers run...?   (I wait until after ours clear when appropriate, I know some of you may claim some of these along with your other pickups)

How is this an easy schedule? TB has a good offense, Oakland has Carr back and looking ahead to the playoffs, Luck will be back.

Like others here, interested in whether the Bills are good hold candidates for ROS. Sitting on my wire looking VERY tempting.

Just to try and add more value to my post, while Buffalo has looked for real early this year, here are their current rankings based on Yahoo:

29th in passing, 182 pypg

16th in rushing, 106.6 rypg

31st in total yards, 288.6 ypg

Yards per game doesn't tell the whole story (though my league scores for yards given up) -- while they seem middling in terms of sacks, they are tied for second in points allowed per game, and 3rd overall in INTs. Given my scoring, they are the #4 D overall.

Seems like a good investment to hold and, if you have the room, pair with another D to stream matchups.

 Winston has not been great by any stretch.....at least not yet. Carr isn't even healthy they are rushing him back by all accounts, or so it seems,  and Luck is another that throws plenty of picks.

 Even though we both can agree, he can put up a ton of points, Luck was supposed to be back "a couple weeks into the season". Well guess what, he doesn't look like he will be on the field any time soon. (I would THINK Luck will be back by the fantasy playoffs, but at least as of right now, we have nothing to fear from the Colts)

 And, the most important part of this all, is that the Bills have been solid as a DST so far.

 All of the above means I am going to get Buffalo, and not even think twice.  Its a DST, we can drop at any time.

If you don't like Buffalo at least the first couple of weeks, then I don't know what you are looking for. But thats why we are here, point out a few, and I might reconsider.

Not saying they arent a good defense just that I don't think their schedule should be pointed out as a positive. TB is 29th in my league in points allowed to defenses and OAK is 19th (and that's with 2 almost full games from Manuel).

 In 4 games, Winston has had 2, that he threw only 1 TD. Against the Giants he threw 3 sure, but in the other game he threw 2, and he threw 3 INTs that game as well.

I know Martin being back will help the offense, absolutely, but I just don't see them as playing their best quite yet. Winston has not exactly been "accurate".

I think their immediate schedule isn't a worry, and from limited options on the wire, i like them as good as any, at least short term.

 BUT, I'm glad you raised these points.  It caused me to go check one specific wire, and some goose dropped BALTIMORE to get Alfred Morris. :excited:   Baltimore's immediate schedule is even better indeed.

Just noticed Detroit is out on the wire as well.

Who do you think is the better prospect for season long hold, Bills or Lions?

And, do you think they actually would be great to both hold?

Possible combined schedule here on through playoffs:

@NO

TB

OAK

@NYJ

CLE

@CHI / @LAC)

MIN

@BAL

IND

MIA/CHI

@CIN

 I had Detroit in 3/4 leagues last week.  The had been about as consistent as you can get, then last week they fell a little flat.

 I dropped them in 2 spots, because I don't particularly care for the @NO matchup.

 I'm betting I can reacquire them after that matchup if needed, then proceed from there.  I try NOT to hold multiple defenses unless I am already in the playoffs cherry picking matchups.  I'd rather use that bench spot midseason for a lottery ticket.

QUICK EDIT - THEY ARE ON BYE AFTER THAT

For clarity sake, the OL is not "injury riddled". They have had their starting LT Decker out since mini camp so from what I can see, the new developement lately has been Stafford holding the ball too long. He's been a bit indecisive and staring down receivers the last 2 weeks. I believe the sacks can be attributed more to that and it's correctable as long as Stafford starts playing a bit better. The O will probably get Golladay back this week which should open things up a bit. I would think NO would be a middle of the road play at best IMO. I think you can do better.

I don't know man, from what I saw he had zero time while trying to stage a comeback last week. By the time the ball reached his hands there was already a 300 pound dude breathing down his neck.  :shrug:

Going Tampa this week but not feeling great about it. Just no other options on wire really. I know they are getting healthier but they are on the road. No doubt, this will be the game that Palmer throws 4 td bombs to a combination of the Browns and Nelson and the whole game is a shootout

I think in predictable passing downs during a comeback situation with the D pinning their ear's back, you are going to be susceptible to that. I'm referring more to the regular game play that I've seen. I'm a diehard and Stafford has not played well. Too many times I've said "You have to throw it, you have to throw it!" and he isn't. He used to throw people open and lately he's waiting for them to show. That's a recipe for disaster. Our line is not great to begin with but they did bring two highly sought after veteran FAs in Lang and Wagner.

Our line is a bit of a constant source of disappointment to me. Okay we've missed Decker, but we've brought in Lang and Wagner. Swanson was good for stretches in the last two seasons. How is it that we apparently improve on Rieff by letting him go to the Vikings, who had a terrible line last year, yet this year it seems to be better than ours ? I'm sure somebody could produce stats that would disprove all this, but sometimes I wonder about the Lions offensive line coaching

cant wait for Decker to come back

Decker-Glasgow-Swanson-Lang-Wagner

That should be a good line in theory.

I hear you but I'd argue that Lang & Wagner hardly need coaching at this stage. Robinson is a backup starting at LT and he's been exposed at times but also has been ok for the most part. I honestly believe the truth lies in the run game. We haven't (still don't) have had a runner that installs the fear into a DL to hesitate with their rush a bit since a brief stint with Jahvid Best and nothing between him and Barry. This slows down a pass rush by making them honor the rushing attack. If I were a DC, I wouldn't worry about us either. Sorry for the hijack, I'll move my ramblings to the Lion's thread.

Going ATL home to Miami this week but I always seem to choose badly when it's a case of taking a DEF because they're going against a crappy offense, nearly always goes wrong. Texans just got dropped and will be available Sunday so may pick them up, home vs Cleveland even without Watt looks good.

Eh I'm starting to get cold feet on my Texans vs the Browns matchup I stashed a couple weeks ago... Hogan might actually be pretty good this Sunday....

Pats hit our wire this week & cleared second waivers without a nibble. Awful this year IRL & FF. But pretty cake schedule Weeks 11-16, and Matt Patricia has a history of defenses peaking at YE.

Stii nah?

Going back and forth on these two, leaning Atlanta since coming off bye.

There’s been some movement towards New England, and while I keep thinking they’ll right the ship, I wonder if it’s just their reputation causing it.

I really wish the Titans D solve some of their issues, schedule is nice ROS.

Rolling New Orleans over Tampa this week
You deserve some kind of prize. The Saints D was absolutely ferocious yesterday. They had 16 defensed passes at the line. 3 scores. Constant pressure. Lattimore is the real deal. That 38 point stat line is deceptive, as the Lions had 2 DST scores themselves and got extra help from the refs. Now they get Hundley and Trubisky next.

Never fails   :kicksrock:

This is one of those weeks where the longer you can wait to decide (and obviously that may not be possible), the better. So many match-ups will be determined based on injuries. For example, the Chargers could be a good match-up if some combo of Siemian, DT and Sanders are out (and Brock is throwing the ball). But otherwise they're just middle of the pack. Same deal with Buffalo vs TB if Jameis sits (I don't care what Fitz did yesterday, I'll bet on him throwing multiple picks every day of the week).

I think NO has to be the top target. Playing great and they get Hundley. Dallas @ SF in Beathard's first start could be interesting, but they're not very good, and he looked decent vs. Washington yesterday. No idea what to make of NYJ @ Miami. You could make an argument for either, which to me makes it a stay-away.

Lol thanks

yes doubling and tripling down on saints d is under consideration

Going Pittsburgh in one and Baltimore in the other.

Baltimore had been playing well but if their offense doesn't start to play a little better I'm worried about them.  Still i don't really want to carry 2 def and there's nothing better on my ww.

Went NO.

I’ve got a limit on number of moves I can make per week. Hope to hold for a couple weeks, next four games GB - CHI - TB - BUF.
