2017 US OPEN - Erin Hills (1 Viewer)

Seems like a perfect course for Rory to win a second US Open but probably doesn't have a shot coming off an injury. Feels like it sets up really well for DJ to repeat.

Played EH last summer and it was a fantastic ###-kicking! Very much looking forward to how the USGA sets the course up as they have multiple tee boxes to choose from. Fingers crossed that the weather cooperates and doesn't #### the whole thing up.

Just saw a commercial for next year's US Open at Shinnecock and decided we're going. Wife agreed (like she has a choice  :excited: ). My parents live in CT so we can stay with them and take the ferry. Can't wait!

Who would you this weekendl with making the cut and total score being the two most important components?

Keven Chappell or Byeong Hun An

An.  He's been quietly killing it.  Money from distance in, too.

Kisner, Stricker
Kisner is a great call.  Been a top 10 machine and is marvelous with the long irons. Not long, but will hit most fairways. Plus the guy is a gamer.

Who'd have ever thunk that DJ would be the relatively stable, family man, world's #1 while Tiger's in rehab and can barely break 80 it seems.

Weird.

My "dark horses":

Shane Lowry

Kisner

An

Lovemark

Uhlein

Not much buzz for Sergio and Branden Grace.  I like both of their chances.

i'm on Lowry too, also like some Koepka.

An, Lovemark, and Kisner all getting love in the DFS community.

dark horse: Brendan Steele. he's 150/1, 20th in SG Tee to Green; 36th in Driving Distance.

ETA: My throat hurt from yelling "5HOUR ENERGY!" after Furyk putted. Saw Tiger off in the distance basically waving his putter all around and throwing a tantrum after puking on himself. I think little things like that are so cool, at least worth experiencing once.
Why do people do this?  God i hate this Shtick.

Because it's funny how large the logo is on his hat, combined with the fact that it's an ad for a quirky energy/caffeine supplement? Lighten up, Francis.
You're 'that guy' if you actually did this.

No chance this course is played at -7....Par four days in a row will take this thing.
I don't think that even par will be in the top 10. While the rough is brutal and the course is scary long, Erin Hills has some of the widest fairways I've even seen at a US Open. The only wildcard is the wind:  It may not be that much of a factor this week. I think the low end winner would be -5 and could get close to -8 or -9 by Sunday.

Assuming you are not a 15 year old giggling with his buddies this is complete ##### behavior.

If you would like some restaurant ideas while you are in Southampton, let me know.

Justin Thomas 33-1

First US Open that is Par 72 in a long time.

Fescue is very difficult but the fairways are Very wide.

Need a long hitter.

Sorry for the false alarm, saw wrong info on golf channel about An withdrawing or misread something. Posts deleted.

I disagree, I had a blast at Merion for the US Open a few years ago. So cool to watch a group come through a hole you park yourself and your group. Rotate beers/bathroom breaks with whoever you go with. Walk with guys near the top of the leaderboard on the weekend days not named Phil, etc. that have a small gallery. Would absolutely do it again.

3 years ago @ Pinehurst Phil had by far the biggest crowd followed at a distant 2nd was probably Fowler.

Rahm +1 after 1 and in the fescue off the 2nd tee.

Dammit... was just coming here to post that the over under on the number of times the announcers say "fescue" this weekend is 1,200.  I'd say it'd be a good drinking game to drink every time they say fescue, but people might actually die of alcohol poisoning.

Just watching the golf channel pre game and they're saying it like every sentence.

Youll last maybe 20 minutes playing that game.

And also how many times they refer to how hard a walk it is for the players.  JFC--they're professional athletes.

one of my goals is to go to a PGA tour event but i can't see how it would be better live than on tv. do you follow a group? stay at a specific hole? try to chase the exciting trends?
At Erin Hills, I would never try and chase exciting trends.  Too many people, way too much walking.

IMO, get to the course first thing in the morning, park yourself behind the tee at a long par 4 or a par 5 (especially one with a real wide fairway), and watch the guys bomb it off the tee.  You will be amazed at how far (and in most cases how straight) they hit it.

I would avoid sitting at greens at a US Open, since you won't get close enough to the green.  At a regular PGA Tour event, you can sit close to the green so when a player misses the green, you can right up close to the player hitting their chip/pitch shot.   And watching putting is boring and it's really hard to see the actual hole.

I just put FS1 on my computer to watch a little of the play and they're showing two guys arguing (one is Shannon sharpe) about basketball with the course behind them. This is unacceptable coverage. I plan to contact my congressman. Where's the golf? I'm seriously upset. This couldn't be more annoying.

Now seeing coverage doesn't start until 11. :bag:

Masters is better IMO.  The 3rd rate announcers are bugging me.
One of the guys yells "hello" every time someone hits it close--they showed two replays from yesterday and Matsuyama getting a 2 on a par 4 and every time the tool yells "hello".
