2017 White Sox: BEEF! (1 Viewer)

Bud Selig attempted to move the inept Sux to Milwaukee in the early 1970s amid low attendance and finishing fifth every year, but this was blocked by the American League and then Bill Veeck saved the franchise with Disco Demolition Night, a banner accomplishment for the Browns of baseball.

And then they built the "new Comiskey."

Sux gonna Suck, their new stadium was outdated the day it opened.  Despite recent upgrades it still rates among the worst stadiums in baseball, often compared with Tropicana Field and the A's Stadium which forced the Raiders to move to Las Vegas.

The White Sox have been in the bottom third of attendance every year since 2011, and bottom five in each of the past four years.
It really is a terrible stadium

It's a half terrible stadium. The upper deck sucks and not being able to get down to the main concourse from it makes it even worse. Lower bowl, there is nothing wrong with it. Great sightlines, great food, great beer selection. I think I've sat in the upper deck twice in the last 20 years, both time free. Wouldn't spend my own money to sit up there.

Yah I had upper deck when I went (around 9 years ago).   They still have the Corn Off The Cob stand?

Finally some cost controlled pitching for the Cubs.  Smart to not wait around.  Put the pressure on the Brew Crew right out of the break.

Casey Gillaspie is a semi-intriguing pickup by the Sox.  Assuming he didn't completely lose his hit tool this year, he still has Belt/Bour upside.  He's 24 and is limited to 1B/DH defensively.  This year happened though and he has to be able to put it behind him somehow.

Jose Abreu chugging around the bases for a triple to complete the cycle was quite fun to watch.  Hawk and Stone seemed genuinely thrilled by the play.

Somewhat amazed that this team didn't lost 100+ games

26 games started by Derek Holland (7-14 / 5.99 / 1.69)

21 games started by Mike Pelfrey (3-12 / 6.01 / 1.61)

21 games started by James Shields (5-7 / 5.23 / 1.44)

12 games started by Dylan Covey (0-7 / 7.67 / 1.65)

That's 1/2 the damn season of complete garbage toeing the rubber. Covey, Holland, Pelfrey probably never throw a pitch for the White Sox again and with Shields on the last year of his deal, hopefully they bite the bullet and swallow the $

Bizarre story on baseball Twitter today about BP South Side writer Ryan Schultz who in real life was a teenage (now 21) year old female catfish (or catfisher, whatever word you kids use).

The Internet never fails to amaze.

Do we have another Mark Reynolds in the making?
How about Eric Soderholm?

If Davidson could take a walk once a week instead of once a month, and get that contact % up a few points, he might be okay.

I grabbed him at the tail end of my draft. He gets over thirty games against those dreadful staffs of KC and Detroit, so maybe a spot start here and there.

He'll be bottom 3rd and the lack of walks has been a common flaw throughout the organization for years. Come June, they commonly draft athletes and not ball players and Tim Anderson seems to be the epitome of that. They've been over league average for OBP once this decade and zero times in BBs. It's just maddening to watch it happen over and over again. It's seems that Rick Hahn is steering them somewhat away from that, hopefully it continues.

Gotta think we see Eloy by June if he continues to mash.  The starters look good, the infield has some nice pieces, but that OF is :X

I think Anderson starts taking some walks, but a 310 OBP seems optimistic.  30 steals and 15 HRs seems very possible.

Guy's on pace for like 324 jacks and you're calling for 15?
