2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

I hate scUM with a passion but kudos to Jim Harbaugh for patting Patterson on the helmet after he fumbled, if that’s Brian Kelly you know he’s SCREAMING at his QB until his fat red head explodes.

@hagmania has me following all these Kansas games now. The score app shows different stuff every time I look. It was 20-18 Nichols State with 25 seconds left in game, but Kansas somehow came back to take a 20-17 lead with 6 minutes left. Now that’s a game.

Also Kansas Christian lost today.

Kansas lost 26-23 in OT. I’m going to petition the school for the game film so I can be the only person to ever rewatch that game.

Why? He turned Stanford, which was basically Kansas, into a juggernaut and took San Fran to the Super Bowl. He crushed at San Diego too. It’s extremely surprising.
Palo Alto - beautiful, temperate, world class academics

San Fran - One of the most cosmopolitan cities in America. Great football tradition and great location.

San Diego - Uh, this one doesn't even need a location, location, location thing, does it?

Ann Arbor - State school (rigorous academics but no Stanford), cold, way, way up north. Simply tougher to get people with a choice to go up there and subject themselves to the rigors of big-time DI football in that weather and climate and location

That may all be true, but it's also true of Wisconsin.

I dont really know why he isn’t calling it...the college football world saw a Bama offense not seen before under him, one that can put pressure on the D in every way.

Tua’s drives included an average of 56 yards with 5/6 TDs (WR fumble), and 6/6 on 3rd down.

Why didn't Jalen Hurts transfer? He is not going to be the starter for Alabama unless Tagovailoa has an injury.    Alabama could win with either QB but Saban wants to play silly games and not name a true starter.  I guess Jalen can still transfer?  Redshirt?

He graduates in Dec, so can transfer without penalty then.

Feels to me like this whole sham of a QB competition was about getting Hurts to stay even though Saban knew Tua was going to be the guy all along.

I really thought Harbaugh would have this thing humming by now. Kind of hard to believe this is the result of 3 full years.
It might help if he'd put half the energy into recruiting O-Linemen as he does everywhere else.  They always seem to be an after thought.  They have drastically improved at every other position than those.  I don't know what the block is there.

If he transferred this year he had to sit out.  Waiting until December lets him play this year, get his degree, and transfer and play immediately.   No brainer for him to stay.

There’s also a new NCAA rule that goes in effect Oct. 15 that prevents schools (wink wink) from barring players from contacting other schools if they want to transfer, or restricting them from certain schools.

Conferences still can have separate rules, however.

Maybe I'm nuts but the Pac12 was garbage last time I checked.  I am reminded of the game in 2011 when Oregon went down to Dallas and got walloped by LSU.  Jake Browning is a noodle arm.  Is there any reason why I shouldn't wager my son's 1st year of college tuition on Auburn today?
BOOM ####ER MOTHERS!!!!! BOOM!!!!!

Is there conference that is really up this year?  XII, Big10, Pac10 all seem down to an extent.
I don't think we're there yet, but it seems like there's a drop in youth participation in football. At least there's a reported drop. If that holds up, it's going to yield some lean times for the talent level in college football.
