People knock the ESPN broadcast but they just did awesome job. Yankees backup catcher is 0-22 in his career. They go into a long story about how he had 2 balls last year that could've been hits and they hope he doesn't go into baseball lore as a moonlight Graham story. Almost next pitch dude crushes a bomb.

What the hell is a ryne stanek?
Kid from KC suburbs with a fastball approaching 100 MPH.  Named after Ryne Sandberg.  Drafted by Mariners out of high school, didn't sign, went to U of Arkansas and pitched his way up to the first round.

Has a pretty good slider, but he's in the show because of Mr. Triple Digits Four-Seamer.

I don’t know what’s stranger: That Joe Mauer played an entire game at 1B without a putout or assist, or that it was the first time since only 2012 that has happened.

@Epic Problem

Dave Roberts’ baseball team just let Rich Hill, DLDLDL Rich Hill, tag from third on a medium flyball to CF. There was one out and Cody Bellinger was on deck.

In related news...Mikael Franco plays for a manager who would run through a wall to catch a batting practice flyball.

Today Franco hit a deep shot and stood at the plate to admire it. The ball hit the wall and Franco barely got to round first. That’s why he isn’t playing every day, he just doesn’t really care to be out there.

ETA: Rich Hill leaves game with sore neck/shoulder :lmao: :hot:

Braun out again after playing 2 games in a row.  Sore side this time.

Injuries that caused missed games this season alone. A Cal Ripken JR he is not.

1. Sore Side

2. Tender lower back 3 times

3. Jammed finger.

4. Calf twice.

5. Stiff neck

6. Sore wrist.

7. Sore arm

Braun put on 10 day DL today.

Hoping the Brewer's somehow find a trading partner dumb enough to take him. Even if they have to pay a HUGE part of his salary to get somebody to take him off their hands. Time to start playing Broxton full time

Another masterful managing job by Dave Roberts. Way to get Wood out of there when he's at only 76 pitches and the 7-8-9 murders row of Marte, Maldonado and Calhoun are due up.

How does Snell not make all star team? That might be the biggest snub I can remember
There’s always 2-3 starters that aren’t available to pitch, and I think they already said that Verlander won’t, so assuming his availability is good, he’ll be on it

Castellanos, who was deserving regardless of how bad his team is, was told he wasn’t going because the AL didn’t have enough pitchers. So Joe Jimenez is there and if he wasn’t, both Castellanos and Snell would be on the team. Which would be right.

They need to get rid of that every team requirement (they won’t, I know). The Orioles and Royals are a combined 82 games under .500. Why is it necessary they have an all-star?

(I know, Machado is amazing but the point remains)
