2018 New Year's resolutions (1 Viewer)

Some of the usual for me:

- start and keep running again

- be more present and energetic with the kids.

- be less apathetic and more involved with the wife

- get new work...  :kicksrock:

What you got?

Until the beginning of November (when I got a new job), I was able to give time and labor for collecting then distributing donated food for the shelters and kitchens here in my area during the work week (Tuesdays/Thursdays and Fridays during the holiday periods). I can't do that now, and it saddens me.

However, as part of my new job, I joined the National Association of Letter Carriers union, and plan to be part of their food drive and get out the vote efforts in 2018 and beyond.

I plan to explore other ways to keep helping my local community, but for now I'll do my best through the NALC and try to branch out and be a better person in the upcoming year.

Wish me luck :banned:

I’m going to try and add sober January to sober February this year. I’m drunk now but I’ve been planning on trying this for 2018.

No more alcohol. No more gambling. I’m going Vegan. Basically, become the most boring person on Earth for a few months.

Going to try to not get banned in 2018.  Particularly since the banning rules seem "inconsistent"

Unless we can get banned for being fabulous, then it all makes sense.

Make more money this year than any other year. I have a decent chance at that but it’s gonna take a lot of work.

Continue doing things that would normally make me uncomfortable. Like last year I managed my son's little league team and ended up loving it. He became a better player, I made friends, and I will manage again this year.

Besides eating healthier, mine is to be excellent to everyone even if I feel they don’t deserve it. That includes you all. I’m sure I’ll break this resolution from time to time but I’ll try to keep it mind and start anew.

I'm gonna copy this one.

I like this a lot. I am always aware of trying to step outside my comfort zone but usually never do. Maybe I’ll do better in 2018.

Lose 50 by 50 - in fairness I started this the week of my 49th birthday in August.  So far down 36, but a lot of that I am sure was water weight.  After the first 20 came off easy it has been slow but steady progress.  Lots of water, little to no fast food.  No soda/pop/whatever else you guys call it.  No alcohol.  Lots of variable incline treadmill.  HIIT training over the strength training I gre accustomed to the first 49 years.  I'll get there.  My stretch goal is get under 210 (that would be a 68 pound loss from where I started).  One of these days I will see my feet again.

Lose 25 lbs

Work on learning languages

Be more helpful with the wife, and show my kids more ways I'm interested in what they like.

Get back in better shape.  Still paying for being down 3-4 months with sciatica earlier in the year.  I'm not bad but feel soft.  Definitely 15 could come off and could add lean muscle mass

Be more present with my wife.  She is really phenomenal.  I'm one of the lucky ones and I could do more to make her feel really appreciated.

Espanol.  Really want to be conversant before I retire.

Giving back.  Figure out what causes I want to get behind and go for it

Spend less time working or thinking about work

Stress less/Focus more. The rest will fall into place.

spent a good deal of 17 over worked, over stressed and just generally not happy with myself. That lead to a lot of things getting in the way of success. Gained too much weight because I wasn't eating right and not exercising. Work was slipping b/c I was distracted. And I lost touch with a lot of friends and connections.

2018 is about righting the ship, getting more organized and using my time better.

Haven't really done these for several years, so I thought I'd "ease" into it this year:

  • No soda for the year
  • No alcohol for the year
  • Pray daily
  • Read a book a month
Should be a piece of cake to last at least the week  .  Also hoping to change jobs within the month.  Waiting on two offers that I am fairly confident are coming (one I'm certain of and the other is highly probable).

Seriously, I am looking forward to a good year.  2017 was trending in the right direction and I believe 2018 will be a big one for our family.
