I think bad but the fact that they keep getting there proves my point - rightly or wrongly people see Oklahoma > Utah.  They can claim each year stands on its on but I’m not sure anybody believes that.

 
What’s changing the minds of the Committee to push OU over Utah? They’ve been consistent there since the first poll.

I'm just saying as a UF fan i thought Mullen's best coaching this season was keeping it close midway thru third quarter vs LSU. LSU was a far superior team than the Gators and it was just a matter of time. Against UGA, the Bulldogs were the better team and deserved to win but i felt like Mullen had substantially closed the talent gap.

Also I think Burreaux is the real deal and Fromm is extremely overrated.

Mike Detillier is a local college and pro football analyst. He's bringing up an old quote of Orgeron's from back when Coach O was first hired.

Their numbers are shrinking slowly, but there is a contingent of LSU fans that still thinks Orgeron is a foul-up and is terrible for the LSU program. It hurts their hearts to change their minds in the face of new information ... so it seems they can't quite enjoy the current LSU success as much as those who've bought in earlier on.

 
Was listening to a radio show last night and they were saying that Urban Meyer would have probably stayed at OSU if he knew Fields was quitting the Georgia team and coming to OSU. Consensus was the Fields transfer basically saved the season for OSU.  They would have still had a bunch of NFL talent but be very weak at QB.

FWIW i think Utah gives either LSU or tOSU a better game than Oklahoma based on their defense.

Even though I’ll be rooting for LSU, I’d love a scenario where UGA fans collective heads explode when Fields beats them in the playoff.

I haven’t given comment on Utah as I haven’t watched them play once this year.  I want whichever team can be the best matchup to get 4th.  Before the Tua injury I thought that would be Bama - now I genuinely have no clue.

After the CCGs?  Maybe beating Baylor twice?  I honestly don't know.  :shrug:  

If the committee ends up split on OU and Utah, I have no problem with them giving the nod to Utah even if their only reason is "new blood/we've seen OU before."   The OU fanbase would obviously have a problem with that though.

or put another way, they didn't want to exclude Pac 12 for 3rd straight year.

They were winning the game whether or not he was there. Michigan's defense is bad, and Don Brown at the very least should be fired, and honestly, Harbaugh should go as well. He isn't the coach to make Michigan relevant again. I'm not sure who is, but I know he isn't.

Yep - that’s fair and I didn’t explain my thought well.  They’ve played really well and probably should have beaten OU the first time.  Kansas has just looked bad lately and not like the worst P5 team.

OTOH, who has Utah beaten so far that makes them a choice for #4?  I'm not opposed to seeing them play there; I'm just not convinced they've had any serious competition plus there's that cringe-inducing loss to USC.  At least Baylor has lost to Oklahoma, and if they avenge that, they'll have beaten everyone on their schedule.

That was a close loss to USC, who was 8-4.  "Cringeworthy"?   Ok....

If they throttle Oregon (and they will) Utah will go to the playoffs.  IMO.

interesting tidbit from Chris Vannini in TheAthletic-

Strong’s buyout situation is tricky. Per his contract, the buyout is only 20 weeks of base salary, which is around $192,000. But most of Strong’s buyout is tied to the USF Foundation, which is a private entity. So it’s unknown how much exactly he’s owed.

His contract was backloaded to maximize his Texas buyout in the early years. His full USF salary jumped from $1 million in 2018 to $2.5 million this year, which was third in the American behind Houston’s Dana Holgorsen and Memphis’ Mike Norvell.

USF has been focusing its money efforts toward that football building. Will Strong’s buyout affect that, and will this affect how much money is available for the next staff?
