2019 College football thread - It's 2020, yo. Go to the new thread. (1 Viewer)

I have no rooting interest at all but for me, you can’t give OSU “credit” for beating Michigan while LSU beats Arkansas and not do the same for LSU this week.  In addition, I think LSU’s body of work is more impressive than OSU - although it’s close.
They both played top 10 teams. Both won. I don't think it's going to be enough to change position when OSU was ahead before the day began.

I know nobody else cares, but I can't see how Navy isn't in the Military Bowl in Annapolis.

FWIW, Sportsbook.ag has the current lines to win the CFB Playoff at:

LSU +160

Clemson +225

Ohio State +225

Oklahoma +1000

This isn’t true at all. The committee has said dozens of times how you win matters.
Both teams beat top 10 opponents in a championship game. I don't see it changing the order. If OSU played a Wisconsin team that was 9-3 and ranked 20+, then ok. Too close to even to say one is better than the other based on just these games. Therefore, they keep the order set prior to the week

I know people will say this doesn’t matter but it does. ESPN has the deal with the playoff as well as the SEC. The Big 10 does not. They’ll put the SEC team higher.

They didn't lose any of them. We really don't know how good they are. Had they lost one game, I think they'd be out.
Yeah I agree.  Just seems weird that the ACC is so bad and all the teams Clemson faced will land outside the top 25 per predictions.

This. Talent eventually takes over. Losing Orr really hurt because he can fight through blocks and go sideline to sideline

No. No he doesn't. You're misguided per usual. He doesn't make adjustments well, I will give your that. He doesn't deviate from the initial game plan, I will concede. But he doesn't go Uber conservative. That's sports talk radio mentality
Agree to disagree. Nothing in that second half looked close to what they ran in the first half.

It's what have you done for me lately. LSU hopped OSU when they beat Bama and OSU beat Maryland. Then OSU hopped LSU when they beat PSU and LSU beat Arkansas.
Blowout of UGA >>>> one half of a blowout vs. Wisky
I will say that though I think LSU should be #1 ... the way Ohio State played the second half conclusively established dominance over Wisconsin. Were the two teams more evenly matched, Wisconsin wouldn't have gotten shut out in the second half.

Put a loss on their schedule.  Who are the four teams getting in ahead of them?  It's like some of you have never watched them play.

I think he has his pluses and minuses mixed up.  Not a chance that Clemson -4.5 vs LSU is accurate.  I say that not knowing how probabilities work yet I am positive I'm right.
Ok, this line that was cited came from an ESPN producer's tweet from Nov. 27th.

If Clemson is ever -4.5 vs LSU from this point forward, I'll film myself eating a Dodge Dart.  There is no way that line comes to fruition.

What you are leaving out is the week that occurred in the middle, where OSU thumped a 9 win MIchigan team by 29 in Michigan Stadium, while LSU played a 5 loss Texas A&M team. This did not result in OSU passing LSU, because OSU had already passed LSU. If anything, it caused LSU to lose ground on OSU.
No way to mathematically prove it ... but is it crazy consider Michigan and TAMU kind of on the same level?

I will treat as "inadmissable" the SEC honks' (e.g. Clay Travis) argument that all the Big Ten teams below Ohio State were overranked by the committee. Still, for anyone interested in the argument, here's what Travis tweeted this past Wednesday:

Rig job in effect by the CFB playoff committee: Wisconsin, Penn State & Michigan are ranked seven spots higher in CFB rankings than in AP or Coaches Poll. UF, Bama & AU are six spots lower in CFP than in AP or Coaches. Ohio State is being protected to keep LSU from one seed.
As you can imagine, it's gotten loads and loads of run down here and is treated as unassailable -- but fair-minded (!) -- gospel.

I was just repeating what they showed on tv last night.

Lots of good stuff yesterday but one of my favorites was Kirby punting with 5 minutes left.  That was so Richt-esque.  He’s better than Richt though.  UGA’s problem appears to be they made the wrong decision in the Fromm vs. Fields debate.  Fromm seems to be either hurt or overrated - lots of missed throws, especially under throwing guys.
If I were a Georgia fan the Fromm over Fields decision would be a deal breaker for Kirby for me. You can’t make a decision that bad.

I really hope tOSU gets the 1 seed. I think they are clearly weaker than LSU and Clemson and would give OU the best chance to win.

So Fromm who had them in the national championship game 2 years ago and the SEC championship game last year should have been replaced during the season last year for Fields? That’s like saying Ohio state fans should be upset that the coaches let Joe Burrow get away.

Saban managed the Hurts-Tua situation masterfully.

Burrow was a 4-star. Fields was an elite 5 who was considered one of the best qb prospects in years.  Not even close to the same thing.

Seeing LSU favored by anywhere from 9 to 10.5 points. OSU and Clemson within 2 points either way. Different places have one or the other favored.

Generally, they cap the bets at $500 on Sundays to get a feel for how the public reacts.  Be interesting to see what the lines do this week.  I'll take a little Ohio State as an underdog.  Will hope LSU gets lowered a touch but I doubt it.
