Doesn't have to go even 15 teams deep. 5-7 teams would be better than it is at present. And I wouldn't put 10-12 teams deep as an impossibility.

I’m fine with 8, but only if we guarantee each of the P5 champs is in as well as the top G5, then 2 WCs but not more than two from any conference.

I refuse to agree to guaranteed conference champs.... unless all the conferences get rid of divisions. The top 2 teams in a conference should play in the conference championship game.... not some 8-4 team from a crappy division. 

Conference divisions are stupid and serve zero purpose.

But you do have to allow the odd Clemson to come out of nowhere.  (this isn't the best example, but bear with me on the fact that they were a 3rd tier program for 20 years, then blew up.)  Those teams tend to get left out, where now they are allowed in.

I can agree with this. Clemson’s rise is extremely weird.

People say that the #4 team wins every so often, but one of those wins was Alabama as the 2nd SEC school and you could argue they were probably the 2 seed if it was conference neutral.

The other was a 1 loss OSU team that was put in the 4 slot over an undefeated FSU that got smoked as the 3.  I mean I get it, you have to put OSU as the 4 that year.

4 teams is fine.  2 teams is/was stupid. We can be damn sure those two years the 4 seeds likely would not have gotten a chance in a 2 team playoff, and both those years when it happened they won out.

This is the right answer.  That way the Capellas of the world get their "eye test" Alabama in every year and the rest of us get our "results on the field" champs and small school dreamers in every year.  Also, quarters should be on campus of the top 4 conference champs.
