2019 College football thread - It's 2020, yo. Go to the new thread. (1 Viewer)

In American college football, the longest NCAA Division I winning streak is held by the Oklahoma Sooners, who won 47 consecutive games between 1953 and 1957.

Sooners can still hold on to this record.
That really wasn’t even football back then. Leather helmets and whites only?

20 minutes ago I was ready to tell some of you to suck it up and deal with being tired tomorrow, only a few more opportunities for great football games this year.

Now I’m ####### exhausted.
I’ve fallen asleep 3 times in my chair.

I don't think Lawrence has looked off as much as LSU has largely done a great job in the secondary on the WRs.  Lawrence has been good mobile and in the RZ

Agreed, LSU's DBs have really gotten after them and challenged them.  Just haven't seen any soft zone type coverage.  You can only do this with really high end recruits and LSU has that.  Clemson has such high end WR talent not many teams can take this approach and not just get torched.

Defensive gameplay was decent but never adjusted. Lawrence looked off but Etienne should have been used more regardless, he was getting chunk plays.

Nope. Should be modern era and segregation era stats and then they should throw the segregation era stats in the dumpster.
Well I will take that into consideration.   oh and this

Prentice Gautt (February 8, 1938 – March 17, 2005) was an American football running back for the University of Oklahoma football team from 1956 to 1959. Gautt was the first black football player at the University of Oklahoma where he wore #38.

Yep.  Both secondaries have largely been successful doing that...at least in the 1st quarter for Clemson.  Tons of talent at the skills position tonight.

I feel comfortable now saying this LSU offense is the best I’ve ever seen.

ETA - Right after I posted Herbie said the same :bowtie:

Chase has more receiving yards than 11 of Clemson's soft ### opponents put up As a TEAM this year.

Well I thought the Sooners would have softened up the LSU offense by wearing them out running in TD's.  Burrow should have torn his rotator cuff while throwing for 32 TDS against the Sooners.

Come on man, really?  You still gonna talk soft schedule after we beat OSU?  No doubt we took our lumps tonight and LSU is awesome but let’s not act like we didn’t belong.

Not saying you didn't earn it by beating OSU, but that and having a charmin soft schedule don't have to be mutually exclusive. :)

Im not sure anyone in the country was beating LSU in that dome tonight.

How does Herbie screw up the imitation of Orgeron?  Every ####### body is doing that imitation.  My wife who hasn’t watched a second on this game does it better and she has no clue who the guy is.

My wife is a speech pathologist and she’s worried about throat nodules. 😅

LSU has definitely earned it.  Look down the schedule of teams they beat.  All the SEC West, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and now Clemson.  They'd be a worthy champion had they even lost a regular season game along the way.
