2019 Is Already THE SUCK!!!1!!!! (1 Viewer)

Sorry to hear. My friend was in his early 40’s and had a congenital heart defect. Had open heart surgery a few months ago to explore and repair some things. Seemed to recover well. Then experienced leg pain shortly after. Discovered an aneurysm in his femoral artery. Returned to surgery  a month ago to repair that. And now this.

This guy just got divorced this year because his wife is lesbian. And they had two young boys age 7 and 9.
My condolences.

My friend was a little older (60), but it was completely unexpected.  His wife had been sitting on my couch just 3 days prior telling us about their retirement plans.  My uncle never married and had no children.  My father was his only brother (88 with dementia).  Very sad that he passed, but I am angry as hell at the convoluted mess of an "estate" he has left behind for me to now figure out.

She’s staying with the same hospital and doctors that have ####ed everything up thus far?!?  I don’t mean to judge, but I think that’s nuts.  At this point, I’d consider switching to one of the highly ranked children’s cancer hospitals, for a consult at a minimum and possibly for the entirety of treatment. Is the chemo in patient?

We can help this family with free housing if they come down to Houston. Texas Children’s Hospital is the No. 3 pediatric cancer hospital in the country, and we also have MD Anderson here. Please let this family know that we can help them.

I hear you, and there are serious discussions about moving her. The thought has been to get her into chemo as soon and as seamlessly as possible. And that is happening. We have to start attacking the cancer as soon as possible, and switching healthcare facilities could delay treatment.

In spite the misdiagnosis, I think we all expected to get adequate care following this recent diagnosis. Unfortunately it's been kind of a cluster####. The family is understandably unhappy with the care, and they have discussed this with the oncologist and hospital and expressed their frustrations. Personally, I think this is a good move if/when they decide to transfer to MDA. Everything will be documented, and there will be more information in the record should there be future legal discussions.

The plan for right now is to just get through the first round of chemo.

ETA: Yes the chemo is inpatient. Amy was admitted on July 26th, and she's been there ever since. First round of chemo is scheduled to be completed this Saturday. She is having some minor physiological complications from treatment, and if they can get this under control, Amy will be discharged on Sunday.
