2020 College football thread - It's the offseason, yo. (2 Viewers)

Contrary to some opinions here, coaching a major program is as hard as it gets in sports...as Harbaugh is showing...lose focus and it could set your program back years, no matter who you are.
How did he lose focus? Recruiting seems ok. Just seems like his game plans are out of touch.

Recruiting is medicore at best since they dont develop their talent consistently. They have 27, 28, 29 kid classes when everyone else is in the 22-25 range and STILL floating in the bottom half of the top 10

And the game plans are definitely out of touch

The parts about Taggart were unbelievable though. A former player saying his practices were little league, and the fact that FSU rounded up the buyout money after GAME ONE last year. Lol. They were done with him immediately.
@Capella Since I assume you (or anyone with a brain, which certainly doesn’t include me 🤣) didn’t watch that “other” game that was on tonight ...

Clearly there is something personal between Taggart and Walt Bell. FAU was still throwing the ball up 22 points with under a minute to go. He almost got his starting QB maimed on a sack on the final play.

Apologies if that causes any terrible flashbacks for you.

Lol I didn’t watch but flipping channels I saw the matchup and chuckled. How did that game get set? Bell was the OC at FSU for willie’s first year and was the lead recruiter for Sam Howell. I guess Willie and Bell weren’t super close, but it was still a surprise when Bell left for UMass. Sam Howell decommitted shortly after and the rest is recent history I guess. Safe to say if Bell stayed, Howell would be there and I guess Willie would too.

Did they shake hands after?

Clemson olineman has it and traveled with the team.
Yeah it makes sense but FSU will still get accused of ducking a beatdown.

@PeteThamel: SOURCES: A Clemson back-up offensive lineman tested positive for COVID-19 from a test taken Friday. They received the results after Clemson landed in Tallahassee. The player traveled with the team.  FSU officials weren’t comfortable playing because of potential spread.

Sure but Clemson has had like 8000 Covid cases this year including their star QB. Maybe they should get their house in order.

Well this is just really dumb

@PeteThamel: Source: The issue that FSU medical officials had with Clemson’s positive test is that the offensive lineman practiced while symptomatic this week. (He had been testing negative.) After he did test positive from the Friday test, there was concern he’d been contagious.

@PeteThamel: That would mean other Clemson linemen could potentially have COVID and hadn't tested positive yet. For FSU officials, that's a position group where spread on field is the biggest concern.

The 3:30 cbs game is.....San Diego State vs Nevada?!?????? :lmao:  This season is TRASH
I think it was supposed to be Ole Miss against Texas A&M, but the game got cancelled and CBS didn't have the rights to any other SEC games.  So they pulled a game from CBS Sports Network and put it on the main channel.

College GameDay said UF just showed up to stadium for noon start. Vandy visiting locker room is cramped and wanted to minimize time there.

Yikes. That’s not even a good SEC game they had scheduled.

Yeah, absolutely no way that game should be played. How is a symptomatic player practicing?

Vandy did the Gators a solid by going Wildcat.  If that QB keeps it on 2nd down zone read, he gets close to the end zone

Good game in Cbus so far...I’ve gotta like Indiana with all the Tampa connections, including the entertaining Whop,

Yeah, Indiana actually played a pretty decent first half for the most part, and OSU goes in up 21.
yeah, this game is a perfect example of the little things that separate a really good team from just a good one. That red zone turnover for IU was killer and pretty much ended any hope they had.

I'm glad cooler heads prevailed and the Clemson game was cancelled, but is anyone calling into question their integrity with respect to testing protocol throughout the week? First of all, someone showing symptoms needs to isolate regardless of whether or not he tests positive. The fact that the kid traveled is insane to me. One of my buddies said they had the same sample re-tested and it came back positive - there's no way that's true, right?
