I think he's one of the best.

When he plays

Doesn't make him All-NBA necessarily

He scored 47; he was awesome in the last game

Butler finished 7th at forward. Voters were not going to be more inclined to vote for him over Giannis, KD, or Lebron. Tatum led the league in defensive win shares and had a better defensive rating than Butler. Butler was probably more deserving than Derozan or Siakam. But Butler played 600-800 fewer minutes than those two. No one is suggesting Butler isn’t a top talent. There are only so many All NBA spots.

maybe. Maybe not. Fact is miami was in the hunt for him when the t’wolves aent him to Philly. Basically it was thibedoux giving Riley the middle finger for trying another post LeBron rebuild after the Heat basically lost thibs the bulls job by crushing them for 3 years. 
 

Butler had his eyes on Miami ever since D wade got in his ear about the culture here. Butlers history of expecting effort from all the guys on his team wore out his welcome in Chicago and Minneapolis and other than embiid the same thing happened to him in Philly. No team (except maybe San Antonio) hold their players as accountable as Miami. Jimmy loves that. Miami and butler are the perfect fit of style and tenacity. He’s also not a diva about running the show (cough Lebron cough) or about being in game shape (cough Shaq cough) 

finally, don’t put it past Riley to keep on going after studs. Beal was in play until he wasn’t, and Giannis did at least listen to what was coming out of Miami.  If embiid decides he wants out I see Riley front and center there.

Miami just doesn’t get these awards bc they are a deep, boring, well coached team almost year in and year out. Spo, Riley, Bam, Jimmy, all get overlooked for coach, exec, defensive and nba awards bc of the versatility of their greatness (and in the case of Bam and jimmy, injuries this year). Herro winning 6th man was kind of a lock but even then you had guys touting K Love bc, well, giving the heat credit goes against the national narrative by the boys in Bristol. 
 

finally, yes, there are a crowd of forwards in the nba so Jimmy is gonna suffer. And using anarchy’s list as a guide if you had a game 7 situation Jimmy might be 5th on your list of who you’d trust after Giannis, KD, lebron, and Tatum, but remember in the bubble it was jimmy giving the lakers all they could handle in that series. He basically was toe to toe w lebron and it was The Brow vs Bam that was the difference there. 

 
Nice block by Horford. Bam should be ashamed of himself the way he has played for most of this series. Horford at 1000 years old has been better. 

 
Boston doing what Boston does. Crippling inability to extend a lead. They'll sit around 15 most of this game and eventually the Heat will get a run late and will come down to the last minute.

 
These guys that roll the waistband of their shorts 3 times to make them shorter (Herro and Butler for example). These are Billion dollar franchises…they can’t  just get a tailor to shorten the shorts for the players that want them?

Boston wearing out. Couldn't extend to 20 or 25 when they had the chance. Don't see much hope in the 2nd half unless somebody really steps up.

 
That said, I'm enjoying Mark Jones quite a bit. Always liked his work. That will always been Breen's crew, but Jones is filling in quite well.

Because they don't usually review it or because you don't believe he stepped out of bounds before shooting?

Heat led in free throw attempts 22-8 in the first half, do you believe the refs are helping the celtics win?

I don’t believe he stepped out of bounds.

I was being slightly hyperbolic.

I have no dog in this fight but admit I do like Jimmy Butler a lot. I was a Larry Bird fan so that’s a wash.

The officiating in the first half or first 6 games has nothing to do with my opinion.
