2021-22 NBA Thread: Bill Simmons furiously recording 2.5 hour long pod about how Boston is still better than Golden State (1 Viewer)

ESPN Sources:
Full trade participants:
Kings: Donte DiVincenzo, Trey Lyles and Josh Jackson.
Bucks: Serge Ibaka, two future second-round picks, cash.
Clippers: Rodney Hood, Semi Ojele.
Pistons: Marvin Bagley Jr.

Pistons taking a chance on Bagley without giving up much. Solid trade.

Sources: Full Spurs-Raptors deal:

Raptors: Thad Young, Drew Eubanks, 2022 Pistons second-rounder

Spurs: Goran Dragic, Toronto 2022 first-rounder (protected 1-14, protected 1-13 in 2023, turning into future seconds)

Giving up a first seems like a lot but the Pistons’ pick softens it somewhat.

Horst is a god.  Semi and Hood were never going to see minutes in the playoffs.  Donte stuck behind Allen and Pat.

Bucks get a stretch 4 who can defend AND a couple of future seconds?

Sixers shouldn’t trade any more than they were willing to last year.  They can trade tobias or stretch him in the off-season and still get Harden. Or make another Simmons move potentially. Nets are just butthurt because they came over the top of the sixers last year and overpaid. Harden didn’t know how crazy Kyrie was ….

If Morey wanted Simmons he should've made the move when he was in HOU still and they wanted Ben. I was saying then it was a no brainer at the time. I'm no Harden fan but getting Ben off your roster for at least someone who can score was better then what they are dealing with now.

adding Thad Young this yr is like adding Kyle Lowry last yr (Sixers know that now) - a playoff-oriented move worth what you gotta pay.

ESPN Sources: The Spurs -- who are trading for Toronto's Goran Dragic -- are expected to negotiate a contract buyout with Dragic. Among the interested expected to be interested once he becomes a free agent: Dallas, Milwaukee, Chicago, Clippers.

We're backloaded at guard. This only makes sense if they are trading Coby White for a big who can defend and they think Lonzo might be out longer then expected

The Celtics are trading PJ Dozier and Bol Bol, a future second and cash to the Magic for a future second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Dozier and Bol are both out for the season. Cost-savings for Boston.

I feel so bad for my man DiVincenzo
Could be worse, DiVincenzo could have been moved to Sacramento before the championship (in the Bogan deal that fell through).  At least he got a ring, even if he got hurt in the 1st round and missed the rest on the court.  Plus his dad is a huge Bucks fan and he got to enjoy the whole thing with his son on the roster.  Nothing but good memories for the Big Ragu as a Buck.  Now he gets to go make his money.

That's a much better haul than the Kings deserve for Bagley.  Nice move for them.

Fox and Sabonis actually looked fantastic last night for the Kings.  I'm sure it was a temporary post-trade bump in their enthusiasm, but maybe they'll at least be more fun to watch.  Hield and Bagley were such anchors in the locker room, getting rid of them has to help a little.

Those seconds could be spun for something else or they keep them and get a buyout pick up with the open roster spots.

Lord help me, but i like what Sac has done. You just dont let go of stars on rookie contracts, buuuuuuut, If Holmes and Sabonis can find a floor language and both pick for Fox, Harry Barnes and/or DD are gonna be open all day. Fox/BadDay/DD (w TDavis, who was finally coming into his own til hurt) is a good guard rotation and Lyles has been learning stretch5ness well since joining the Pistons. I'd as soon have them as the Wolves, Pels, maybe Mavs

Harden for Simmons has happened.  Along with a lot of other players moving and some firsts.    Curry, Drummond and others in the deal

76ers gave up Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and 2 first round picks. Eesh.
I think the Nets won this deal.  Anything short of a championship in PHI is a failure, and that's what will happen.  Harden will be asking out by Feb 20.

I cannot imagine wanting Harden at this point.  Maybe there will be enough of a honeymoon for them to make a run this year.

Same could be said of the Nets though.  I think Philly gave up a pick too much, but from a 2022 on court perspective, this is essentially Harden for Curry which you do 10 times out of 10.

Imagine the built up disdain for Simmons that his Sixers teammates have since the playoffs last year, and now imagine having been traded with him and be forced to suit up with that mental midget on another team?  Ugh.

I'll take it. Simmons is gone. Harden is a headache too but he's a top 10 player when he tries.

Now or never for the process.

Yea feel bad for Curry. That's the business though.

I am soooooooo happy for Joel Embiid. I am sooooooooooooo happy for Poopbeard the Pirate. i am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy that Simple Simmons gets Kancerie to flat-out out-flat him. Title's won - i'll take any team str8up in charity bets

Drummond has been the only serviceable backup for Embiid this whole time.  Man that hurts the team overall.  Guess they like Paul Reed.
Drum was the perfect backup, but buyout season will answer that (tho Jazz might not buy out Whiteside - who Azubuike has already passed - now just to keep him outta Sixer hands). You just got you a title, boy - chill.

Man I feel for KD. Dude goes into this thing in Brooklyn probably thinking he poised for at least 1 title. Then Kyrie does what he does best, gutting an organization from the inside with stupid off-court drama (I've seen it as a Boston fan). And now Harden is dumped (even sound like he wanted to bail, if you believe the hearsay).

in before djax posts an essay on how awful this trade was for the Sixers.

Or maybe he will wait until the night they are eliminated from playoffs to say it.

Ya that's rough. Plus suffering a fairly big injury. Not good. I thought the nets were poised to walk through the east this year.

In the end, KD, Harden and Irving played a grand total of 16 games together.

Do we think New York/Brooklyn fans and media are going to be any nicer to Simmons than Philly?

Does Ben suit up March 10?  I can't even imagine how he's gonna face that crowd. It's gonna be nasty.

He might be too nervous to play anywhere outside Brooklyn.  Nets could just have Simmons play only home games and Kyrie play only road games lol
