Mavs are playing great (Brunson is one of the most underrated players in the league)—but I’m very surprised by how poorly Utah has played and how poorly Snyder has coached so far this series.  Utah was getting blown out yesterday until they went small—took Gobert out—and went with Mitchell, Conley and Clarkson together. This quickly got them back in the game—when Snyder puts Gobert back in—and the Mavs pull away.   Secondly—I really liked the Jazz getting Nickeil Alexander Walker for an injured Ingles.  He’s a young, tall, guard with length that can be a pest defensively and is capable on the offensive end—and hasn’t played a minute in the playoffs yet.  The past two offseasons—the dude legit worked out with Dinwiddie and knows some of his tendencies.  Nobody so far on the Jazz has had any success stopping Brunson/Dinwiddie—and it makes no sense to me that there is a tall defensive guard sitting on the bench who hasn’t even had a few minutes to see if he can be effective.

That would be fun especially in a debate

1st Person : Yeah Nikola Jokic is amazing defender vs GB

2nd person: Jokic doesn't was terrible defending GS last year

1st Person: No I'm talking this year man 

2nd person: I think you mean Jovic the Forward not the Center

1st person: Oh #### yeah man the other Nikola that's who I meant

I could see a lot of heavy debates do to mess ups coming 

 
Borrego out in Charlotte. Guess it makes sense after how poorly the team has played when it really matters, but that feels like more of a roster construction issue (too much money to Hayward and lack of inside players)

Hahaha no doubt.  If they like the kid, I could see why they'd want to do it, though.  Heck of a steadying presence for a 19-year-old foreigner to have his countryman and likely role model on the same team.

Brunson went to Villanova which is almost down the street from me. So I got to watch him play a ton on TV and in person. Some of the players coming back from Philly during the day games when they played at Wells Fargo would come into our store some times. I don't think anyone local is surprised by Brunson's success nor were people with Ryan Archidionico AKA Ryan Wright span of success in the league. 

This is why a lot of 76ers fans were pissed when Bridges was traded during draft night. A lot knew how good Bridges could be. Saddiq Bey to DET was a sneaky underrated pick too. Now with Jay Wright retiring it'll be interesting to see if the span of success of Nova players in the NBA continues. Since Jay Wright was coaching there the last 21 yrs if you wanted high IQ and fundamental basketball player you pick the Nova guy. 

To add to my work story before Nova became really big nationally guys like Kyle Lowry came into my store constantly and met Jay Wright more then a few times including my HS Graduation that was held at the Pavillion. Lowry use to get me tickets to the games back then and when he first entered the NBA would get my buddy who is a huge Nova fan and I tickets with his family when they'd play against the 76ers. Now Nova is so big around here most guys don't go off campus often as it draws huge crowds of people.

That be similar to a Japanese player coming to American and signing with the Angels who's first and last name are similar to Othani

Same problem as when he was in Boston. Dude has an incredible agent to be pulling in that kind of money for someone who has broken 20/game only once.

 
Apparently all it took was that Game 2 loss to remind the Bucks that it’s the playoffs. Defensive intensity in particular has been very impressive tonight.

When it mattered was getting four more wins in the regular season or at least 1-2 more to get two swings at making the dance.  

.354 to .458 to .524 is pretty decent improvement.  The only reason I make this move if I'm Jordan is if Lamelo isn't happy.

I was at the game last night at the United Center. Brutal to watch as a Bulls homer.

I know what Grayson Allen does well is technically called "moving without the ball", but to see it in person is something to behold.

He zigged and zagged, juked and feinted, slithered his way through the Bulls defense. No one could keep track of him, and he kept popping out for an uncontested three-pointer (that he nailed).

Right. The team lacked the composure or savvy to finish many of those games that would have made a difference. Far too easy for veteran players to manufacture fouls with any contact. They were a horrendous 0-7 in OT this season.

Harsh to blame that on coaching, but MJ always has to have a scapegoat for his failures.

 
kind of a touchy point, but the best coaching being done out there right now is being done by black coaches, so i'd be looking for one if i was an owner unhappy with team progress. last year's turnaround coaches Monty Williams, Nate McMillan (Thibs qualifies, but he lost em fast, like usual); similar efforts from Kidd, Udoka & Green this season - the coaches who are converting "what i do" players into "how we win" teams are the ones who the players are most likely to listen to. sure, there are bad black coaches - JBBickerstaff may have turned the Cavs around, but what i saw from them recently makes me wonder if he's over his head for the next step - but the premium is on guys who can get their players to buy in on the relationship between game & team in a winning concept.

 
Sixers played poorly. Embiid thumb really bothering him but still within 5 at the half. 3rd quarter is going to decide how this goes.

Not much decided there.  Should be a good finish.  Really don't want this to go back to Philly.  Joel's thumb needs a week off.

1st home playoff game in 5 years.

Wish could say their performance was surprising. They've been terrible for months. Lavine hasn't looked right for awhile. Lonzo wasn't making up the difference in last night's game but they desperately miss him on both ends. A lot less of the iso basketball that's plagued them and long scoring droughts for years 

Ayos play faded as year went on. Though his playing time now is a bit strange.

All said, they've already done more this series than I thought they'd do (win a game). I thought they were the worst playoff team based on play the last months.

yeah, Sixers seem flat today. From a behavioral lens, there is nothing funnier than officiating in the NBA. the more you complain and whine the more the refs side with you. it is such a silly system, NHL did a good job of kind of getting the silliness out of the way with the calling of dives, but the NBA has a way to go

funny comments by Embiid after the game. 

Kyle Neubek:  Joel Embiid's full comments on the officiating: "I admire the job that they did today. To me, it felt like they had one job coming in here tonight, and they got it done, so congrats to them."

that is a snippet, he did say he played bad, and didn't say anything about them losing due to the refs. but Embiid is much funnier than Nurse when discussing refs
