So was there any validation for those whom were so incredulous that Jokic won MVP over Embiid?  And felt that way in part because Jokic, carrying a team of G leaguers, got bounced in the first round?  Does it really matter whether you get sent home in the first or second round?

Both players were extremely deserving, but those that publicly kicked and screamed with nonsense like “revoke voting rights for anyone that voted for Jokic over Embiid(!!!)” should be publicly shamed.

Spo starts Strus and benches Duncan and the Heat takes off about 30 games ago. Strus has the highest +/- in the playoffs. How does Miami develop these players? Gabe Vincent too. Each will make $1.8 mil next year.

well, a torn ligament in your shooting hand, concussion, and broken orbital bone would likely do most people in, no?

Riley knows things

Some would say that those little things shouldn’t impact an MVP.  But it doesn’t really matter, I suppose.  You should be proud. The People’s MVP carried his team to the second round.

By the way, are we still surprised when an Embiid injury impacts his team’s success?  What is this, year seven?  Rinse, repeat.

Brah, Embiid was a broken man... you can't judge him on this series.

But also, ya... anyone who talked about Jokic being bounced mattering, is wrong too.  Voting was already over, still don't know why people use playoffs as an argument.

Yeah, I’m not judging at all.  Just making the same point you are.  It’s a regular season award.  And both players were amazing.  Yet so many people were up in arms about what a travesty the voting results were.  And they used the playoffs as supporting Exhibit A why those that voted Jokic were corrupt, idiots, or a combination of both.  Just wondering if they get their Twitter rights revoked now that Embiid was also “unsuccessful” in the post season, no matter the reason.

If Mavs/Suns game 7 goes on Sunday, what day might the WCF start?  Will be in SF next week and would be cool to be there for a home game.

racks me up the overflow of Celtics love in here now because they were physical and fouled the crap out of KD to beat the Nets. Funny how all the love still comes pouring into Tatum, and the reality is he is shooting below average in basically all categories this series
Yeah, here I knew we aren't reading the same thread. Last two pages are literally all Tatum criticism.

How poetic would it be if Crowder throwing Ntililina into Paul for the worst foul call of all time ended up with Paul injured.
It would be irony and poetic justice all at once.    That play was everything I hate about Phoenix all at once, including Booker being shown whining/pouting to the ref (despite not being in the play).

Would it be a hot take to say Booker is one of the whiniest frontrunners in the league? He talks so much when he's winning but he just disappears and throws cheap shots as soon as the tide turns. No backbone.

If Philly locks him in for another 5 years @ $270mm plus the two 1sts, there is definitely a clear loser.
seems a pretty simple sitch. Harden was more not-the-solution (exascerbated by Morey's negligence in filling the Curry/Drummond slots) than a problem and may indeed have been behind the 8ball of the new rules and decreased enthusiasm toward conditioning in Kyrieworld and never got in front of it. i cant imagine anyone matching the $47mil Harden can opt into for this season, so you give him that yr and no promises, see if Maxie takes the 3rd-yr leap ahead that other Wildcats guards llike JMurray & Booker did and if Harden can be an asset in those circumstances. Philly's exisiting prob pkgd w two low 1sts is not a ruinous price for a yr & a half of Beardo. You may come out of it with allstar Maxie to go with Embiid and a final-year Harris for 2023 (and maybe Harden on more of a Lowry than a Westbrook deal) and most teams would envy that

Jimmy Butler basically said last night that he wishes he still was playing with Embiid in Ohilly. Even as his team just killed them. Then in the hallway is yelling “tobias harris over me?!?” and some other stuff.

It was negligent choosing to placate Simmons and keep him and Tobias instead of Butler. They have wasted 3 seasons now since that Leonard buzzer beater.

Deciding as a franchise to keep Ben Simmons and Brett Brown over Jimmy Butler.

i honestly didn't think it would be possible, but somehow people are still blaming Ben Simmons for the 2nd round loss.......

the issue at the time was the Harris contract. the issues between Jimmy and Brett Brown were something they could work out and Brown was open to working it out.

But at a certain point Sixers' fans need to be honest with themselves and this team. really can't keep scapegoating, there are multiple issues with this team and it seems like everyone wants to just say it is a simple fix here or there. Embiid was healthy for one playoff in the his entire career, and the team has limits with him on the court. and he is one of the few plusses the team has.

:lmao:

Nobody was doing this were they?

I'm not sure if anyone here was guilty but I definitely read and heard those comparisons shortly after the trade.  I remember Shaq addressing the hype with an emphatic "Hell No" 😂

Apologies if someone already answered this, but Game 1 of the WCF will be Wednesday at 9pm ET.

ECF starts on Tuesday.

The Maxey/Harden subplot is also hilarious.  I'm glad someone is finally calling Harden's bs out.  I'm still bitter how he treated everyone in Houston.

That first video needs context. Apparently one of the assistant coaches called Maxey over to chat - it wasn't him refusing to sit with Harden.

The second video looks like something that happens all the time between teammates.

Also - Maxey gets all pissy in this video at Harden when it was he who made the ####ty pass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUiWuw330Lo

Already having a hard time focusing on work with a potential closeout game for the Bucks looming tonight!

Bucks saying they're gonna limit the Deer District to 11K fans.  We'll see about that.  Supposed to be a nice night in Milwaukee with temps in the 60s, so it'll be crazy down there.  Definitely glad that I'll be inside watching from my seats.

Looking for a(nother) big Giannis game tonight.  Bucks have obviously shown that they can win in Boston, so I'm not afraid of a G7 on the road, but I'd rather not find out.  Bucks in 6.

Boston just has to stay focused and eliminate the mental errors.  Without Middleton, they are the better team but they chucked and flopped their way to a loss in game 5.  I'm sure Udoka is as firm with them as he has been all season and they know what is at stake.

Still, the best player in this series (and the world, IMO) is Giannis so they are still in danger of losing even if they play well.  If Giannis just plays great where he is knocking down 3's and FT's, there may be nothing they can do about it. That is why I was so upset they threw game 5 away. You can't put your season on the line for 1 game against that guy because your only hope is that he misses the open shots you give him or just runs out of gas in the 4th (like game 4).

You got it bad

Crazy to think just a few months ago people were comparing the Embiid/Harden combo to Shaq and Kobe.
those people would be me. now, i was a big Simple Simmons fan early on but ragged Brett Brown for not getting he and JoJo on the same page as far as the two-man game. seven and a half yrs did the best pick&roll-type center toil without a guard who could run one and then they get one of the best at it. i was very excited and declared the Sixers instant champions, then backed off when Morey didnt restock the bench (from now on my exclamation for bad bench play will be "NiANG!!). Kobe/Shaq proved to be hyperbole in extremis, but i believe the p&r metrics for this duo's brief time together back me up a little. Though, as stated above, i would not pay max dough to make it happen, a Sixers offense based on a Harden/Embiid pick & roll can win a championship

My 17 year old son was planning to be in the Deer District crowd with some friends tonight but he's going to the game with me now. I invited a business colleague but he backed out a couple days ago so I'm taking the boy.  What a beautiful day - should be a fantastic evening for the indoor and outdoor crowds.

Super cool.  If Boston loses, I can take solace in the fact that CletiusMaximus and his son had a great time tonight.

That said, sorry they are going to ruin your night.  :boxing:

Huh?  They decided to max harris and let Jimmy walk. Because Simmons was intimidated by Jimmy and needs the ball in his hands.

How many more years does Embiid have on his deal? The job the front office has done bringing in coaches and players to surround Embiid makes you wonder if he asks for a trade or doesn't resign.
