I only see that Embiid is signed through next season (per Spotrac).
spotrac often doesnt show extensions. this Sporting News article of less than one day's vintage has him signed thru '27 (i thought it was '25)

Most importantly, Embiid is under contract through 2027 after signing a four-year, $196 million supermax extension with the 76ers prior to the start of the season. Harris is under contract through 2024, and Maxey is still on his rookie deal.

someone better at the wayback machine can probably recall better than me, but wasn't the narrative on Butler "can't play with that guy, he's manically crazy. he's breaking the Sixers."

Riley knows things

The heat, as an organization, are pretty cool.  Have a buddy who works in their front office and they are all pretty much working their tail off to find players that fit their culture and then grab them and develop them, with no slacking from the FO to someone like Zo being there, to Udonis having a roster spot just to beat the culture into them. (my buddy is single and travels a ton to see players all over the place)

Butler is a perfect fit.  So is Bam. and on and on. Likely Robinson is the one who "least" fits the culture bc he is a defensive liability but when the team needs spacing that is what he is there for.

Having the arena in Downtown Miami doesn't hurt either (as opposed to Dolphin Stadium which is about 30 minutes north west).

I also think Miami has the best coach in the NBA.  He doesn't get near the national love or attention he deserves.  I would be thrilled if he came back home to Portland.

I've said it before, I will say it again: there has never been a professional sports team with more wasted keystrokes or oxygen spent on a team that mattered less than the Philadelphia 76ers.  Boggles my mind how much wasted energy is spent on a team that is largely irrelevant.

This past year's Lakers give em a run for their money.

Grant Williams just BERATING the refs after his second foul (which should have been his third), and they do nothing…

Play-making Tatum is really fun to watch. I hope he keeps this up. But if I'm a C's fan I'm nervous that the 4-4 start on 3s is going to lead to him putting up 16 three-point attemps.

Bingo, and as we saw the last two games, frankly...he doesn't even need the 4/4 start to do that.

Dumb foul by Giannis.  Just give up 2 and save the foul.

And stop gunning long jump shots.  Dominant early in drives and making them take fouls.  Just quit doing that rather than keep attacking and getting them in foul trouble.

Yeah if that gets challenged and is a charge…I have no clue what a player can do.  smart was not set until Giannis is in the air.  Even then he is still moving.

Not sure which of today's 2 news tidbits about The Sixers is worse:

Danny Green torn ACL, and Doc will be back as coach.

Is there some history between Doc and Howard Eskin?  I was watching the post game interview of Doc last night and Howard really seemed to set him off.  Although Howard could do that to the strongest of men.  He's such a weasel.

4 on Giannis. Celtics gotta keep challenging him now.
That 4th was pretty weak too…if they called  that much contact when he drives half the Celtics would have fouled out by now.

Doesnt mean it was a bad call or wasn’t dumb of him in his foul situation.  But he took more contact than that on the several drives not long before that call with nothin.

Guys like he and Lebron get plenty of calls, but also have plenty not called because of their strength to power through it.
