*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (2 Viewers)

Point appears to be a game-time decision.

Seems like an unnecessary risk to push it. Unless he's healed up and fine. I guess it's up to their medical staff at the end of the day.

If this thing somehow gets back to NY for Game 7, I think Point suits up. But in a non-elimination game for TB, why risk it when you're on a 3 game win streak, you're at home and the opposing team has struggled in your building, and the other team is struggling mightily at even strength as of late?

But OTOH, perhaps you want him to get a little live ice time prior to the SCF to knock off any rust.

A TB victory tonight means Point gets another 4 days to rest for Game 1 of the SCF (would start on 6/15).

For what it's worth, Point was on the ice this morning for 35 minutes. He was also one of the last players on the ice with healthy scratched Cal Foote. The videos of him skating seem to indicate he's close to returning.

Seravalli says per his sources that Point is not expected to play tonight, but likely will play in their next game. Whether that's Game 7 vs NYR or Game 1 vs COL.

Yea I could see it both ways. Definitely better to kick some rust off if they get to Colorado.

For whatever it’s worth (nothing) I don’t think he plays tonight.

He looked decent in the videos I saw on twitter of him skating. Tough to really get a feel based on a short video though.

I don't think the Rangers have gotten it out of their zone a single time without turning it over.

I think they've turned it over multiple times more they've turned it over just once actually.

Rangers really did not have much going on tonight offensively. TB had far more scoring chances. Igor kept them in this one somehow.

Rangers looked gassed, but TB were simply the superior team after going down 2-0. Maybe they had some rust to kick off those first couple of games. Vasilevskiy was lights out Games 3-6.

Rangers have an interesting offseason. You've gotta improve on the 2nd line center spot. Kakko might be dealt. Gallant did not want to talk about the decision to bench Kakko at all in the post game conference. Makes me wonder if there's something more going on there.

TB should be getting Point back for the SCF. Big return. Colorado vs TB should be a decent SCF.

Honestly this is crazy. It’s such a (sports) blessing to be able to root for these guys. Wish my son was a little older so he can experience this, he could live to 110 and never see this again.

So it looks like Game 5 will be in Denver while I'm in TB.

@Capella @E Street Brat What's the scene like around the arena/downtown for a big game like that on the road?
Sorry I missed your post the other day — I am getting old. Definitely head to the arena. They will have a watch party. I believe it’s a 10 dollar donation and you can buy the tickets on the team site. I haven’t been but a friend goes to every one and says they are a blast, it’s almost like being at the game. Otherwise there are plenty of bars downtown that should be very busy. You’ll definitely have fun.

Rangers have some work to do here, curious how Chris Dreary goes about it.  This team was the same all year, even in the playoffs.  Wildly outplayed at 5-5, but having a superior power play and goaler.  With any semblance of a 5-5 game, maybe this season could’ve been special.  They had 3.5 top 6 guys, as I consider  strome a .5.  They need a true C2.  Also need some RW help.  Laffy seems a keeper, but if he can’t play RW then he’s basically a 3rd liner.  I am not a Chytil fan.  Kakko is a mystery and i am waiting to hear more about the scratch.  If someone wants to sheet him, so be it at this point.  He’s been injured and just doesn’t seem to adapt to the NA game, though his scouting profile says otherwise.  He is big, but seems to be more a grinder and cycler.  I don’t mind having him at $2mm per on a bridge, but i need to see more.  Personally, i think strome is gone, copp stays.  Chytil, Lundqvist, kravtsov and kakko can be dealt and obviously nemeth.

Point did all of practice today and centered the third line with Paul and Colton. Sounds like he’ll be back Wednesday.

Colin Stephenson on Twitter: "GG on Kakko: "We love the kid. He's a good player... Trying to win a game." On the Kid Line: "They're all key ingredients, fir sure."" / Twitter

Colin Stephenson on Twitter: "GG says he "definitely, 100 percent" sees Lafreniere and Kakko as top 6 wingers next season." / Twitter

Sounds like I jumped the gun and read too deep into things.

I think Tortorella is right. They created a monster after they swept TB in 2019.
