*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

TOR/NYR OT was ridiculous and I'd really like to just have 3 on 3 keep going and no more shootouts. Thank you for attending my TED talk.

(I don't even care that Toronto lost, they played really well, Shesterkin was just too good tonight). I think first line Nick Ritchie may be over soon though.

nyr look different when shesterkin plays.  still have no idea why seorsieve played opening night.  just hoping they play igor at least 60.

I've figured out Seattle's problem: Ron Francis.

I mean, half these guys are BRUTAL.

But Captain Giordano says they'll be better now that they're coming home and can start practicing.

I watched my first game on ESPN+ last night now that they have taken over the streaming broadcasts from NHL.TV last year.  I'm honestly really not a fan.  Major downsides are that you can't hide scores, and when you join a live broadcast already in progress, it default joins live.  I've got 2 kids that I usually get to bed around 8:30, which means I join games mid-stream most of the time.  With NHL.TV, I had the scores hidden and could just start the game from the beginning.  Now I basically HAVE to see the score since it's tied to the game link, and then I have to rewind to the beginning from wherever it is live.

First world problems, I know, but come on - if you expect to be a legit streaming service, at least let people hide scores and such so you can enjoy the game as if it was live.

How it's going for Hakstol's return in South Philly.

@2Murphy8: Nate Thompson just beat the breaks off Bastian, good #### https://twitter.com/2Murphy8/status/1450269572217679873/photo/1
that was fun. and great to see them take care of Boston last night too.

loving the additions to the team, and Farabee and Kaneckny looking in stride so far. only thing holding me back from watching this team every game is the God awful decision of whoever to pick that new goal song. What a travesty the Flyers P.R. did with deciding on that song, and picking this annoying song

I think the "Bang the Drum" is tired at best too.

i saw the interview with the players, and i know G and a few others mentioned they would like "doop' back. funny that the Flyers want to put that video out and just kind of ignore it.

Curious on outside perspectives on this. Based only on last season/playoffs and the few games this year rank these four players in terms of skill/value to team/effectiveness, whatever, just give me a list - 1 to 4: Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner, William Nylander.

Let's see who's watched the Leafs...

This is probably the exact right order. I think #1 and #2 are not debatable. Matthews is a top 5/10 player in the league and the best goal scorer in the league last year (and will be this year unless McDavid is going superhuman or Ovechkin is turning back the clock).

Nylander generates chances on his own better than all of them and finishes them better than all but Matthews.

Marner needs to be way better and will never be worth anything near his contract but is so ridiculously skilled and can make plays so few in the league can.

Tavares does a lot of little things so well (faceoffs, net front, scoring) that he may bring more than Marner but he's also likely on the decline.

These Vegas golden helmets make them look like a rollerball team.
Can't stand them.  They look terrible (IMO).  The gray ones are perfect.  I know they are about the "show" in Vegas, but why make the players look clownish?

Tampa has claimed Alex Barre-Boulet from the Kraken, roughly 2 weeks after they claimed him from Tampa.

I was going to say that there are easier ways to see Seattle, but they haven’t played a regular season game there yet.

i turned cav onto The Crew add on for Kodi 19.  highly recommend.  you can’t go back, but it’s free, home and away feeds and a replay games area that loads quickly.

Islanders are the only Metro team that isn't over .500 but they don't play their home opener for another 4 weeks.

Pour one out for the great Bob Neumeier ... better known nationally for his horse racing coverage for NBC, but a longtime broadcaster in Boston who was briefly the Bruins radio PbP guy in the '90s.

Also well remembered for his call of "The Brawl in the Mall" between the New England Whalers and Minnesota Fighting Saints from the WHA in 1975. (His color guy, Bill Rasmussen, was the guy who founded ESPN ... also, Jack Carlson is the real-life "third Hanson brother" but had to turn down a role in Slap Shot when he was called up by the Oilers.)

Still think this was all about magic waving hands to keep the eyes of the sexual abuse/assault suit happening, and it will likely wind up causing the same result with a massive front office culling.
Not sure why they are waiting so long to change coaches. Pretty clear it has to be done.
